Jan. 28 Doc Young's Wrestling Weekly: A look at Smokey Mountain Wrestling; Rumble Predictions & more

Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher go almost completely old school today, as we talk about Les’ time working for Smokey Mountain Wrestling. Before we get there, though we will touch briefly on WWE, and discuss when enough is enough…the right time to end a match, and why not enough guys know when that is these days.  As for the SMW discussion, you’ll hear about the differences between working with Bob Caudle, Dutch Mantell and Jim Ross on commentary, having Jim Cornette as a boss, and why Les’ crew who used to think he was too hard on them changed their minds when they met Jim Cornette.  Hint; it has to do with broken windows.  We’ll also talk about the circumstances behind the demise of SMW, and legendary music producer Rick Rubin, who initially was one of the financial backers of the promotion.  Finally, we’ll wrap with predictions for the Royal Rumble PPV!  A really fun show, and we’d love for you to visit our thread in the “Radio Shows” forum on the board for some extras you won’t find on the main page!

Jan. 21 Doc Young's Wrestling Weekly - That man got KNOCKED THE F@#! OUT!!!!!!

Broadcasting this week from Smokey Joe's Cafe, it's Doc Young's Wrestling Weekly with Les Thatcher, Will Strause and Victor Sosa!  We stole the B&V show opening gimmick this week, and if you heard last week's show, then I'm sure you'll understand.  If you're looking for detailed analysis of this past week's wrestling tv, this ain't your show.  We do spend a decent amount of time discussing Evan Bourne's issues, but the majority of this show is spent on another topic; concussions.  No, not a clinical discussion, but with Low-Ki knocking a man out last week, we talk about how situations like that should be handled, where the fault lies when a match is not stopped as a result of someone getting their bell rung, working stiff vs. working lightly, and the reason the traditional wrestler's handshake is a limp one.  Be on the lookout for our "Questions for Les" thread, which should be up in the "Radio Shows" part of THE BOARD around midweek and enjoy today's show!

Jan. 14 Doc Young's Wrestling Weekly; Great Les rant, Battle Royals, assorted hilarity~!

Les Thatcher, Will Strause and Victor Sosa return for one of the more humorous editions of Doc Young's Wrestling Weekly.  Les attempts to discuss Brodus Clay's debut without going on a rant.  He managed that, but could the legend get through all the Raw discussion without losing it?  As the late Gorilla Monsoon used to say, "Highly unlikely".  Also discussed: the Horsemen in the HOF, the end of wrestling at the former ECW arena, a question on the board about battle royals, Jitterbug Mary, Smokey Joe's Cafe, and Tom Jones~!  No, not that Tom Jones.  See our thread in the radio shows section of the board for more!  This show goes off the rails at times, but in a fun way.  Enjoy!

Jan. 6 Doc Young's Wrestling Weekly; WWE Classics on Demand, TNA PPV, Abyss = PR GURU, more~!

While Will Strause is off wearing wacky outfits at a comic book convention, Victor Sosa and Les Thatcher are here for their first show of 2012.  Since WWE didn't offer much in their first show of the year, they don't get much time here.  TNA talk includes Ring Ka King, PPV predictions for Genesis, and a tremendous tale about Les' neighbor, Abyss.  Picture this; Abyss....public relations guru!  And somehow, that leads to a HOCKEY STORY.  Apologies to Adam & Mike.  We close out talking about what Vic watched with his WWE 24/7 subscription this week that takes us to some truly awesome stories of a man who was a dear friend of Les, and a hell of a wrestler, Luther Lindsay.  Les brings the goods discussing this great man.  You can also learn a little more about Luther Lindsay and his career here:
