I know, I know... you all thought I bailed out already... the real reason was after the build up, I felt I owed it to Charly Manson to just sit it out instead... the difference is, people actually missed him... but in reality, the reason was i've just been so beyond tied up the past two weeks, I just fell behind...

So before we get to the recaps (yes, multiple recaps on one posting!!), might as well hit the plugs first...

all your up to the minute lucha news at www.thecubsfan.com/cmll/...

9/26 - Verano de Escandalo 2009 - Part 2

Taped on August 21, 2009 in Cuidad, Mexico

As you can see, i'm on a three week delay, AAA is on a 4 - 5 week delay...

1. Nicho & Joe Lider vs. Gronda II & Elegido in a hardcore match. Piero is the referee.

Standard garbage wrestling match, as if you expected something with Joe Lider to be something else. Lider bleeding all over the place. Finish saw Elegido go for a superplex on Nicho, however Lider comes in for the save, holding Elegido on his shoulders, allowing Nicho to hit a blockbuster off a table on Elegido for the pin. I saw off the table since it never broke and they bounced off. Gronda II comes in to clear house with some clotheslines...

Fun begins now as we hear Road Warrior Hawk's “What a rush” and the Ultimate Warrior's ring music. Scary combination. Even scarier, here comes Gronda XXX... After a brief staredown and a shoulderblock to take down Gronda II, Gronda XXX gives us a taste of things to come by messing up a torture rack, dropping Gronda II on his head before unmasking him... by the way, nice leg brace on Gronda XXX...

Crappy quality footage of this can be see on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7Ghk6_dyk4

Winners: Nicho & Loe Lider...

Losers: Everyone who watched this...

2. Charly Manson vs. Chessman in a street fight. El Hijo del Tirantes is the referee.

What is the difference between a hardcore match and a street fight? After a brief disagreement with El Hijo del Tirantes, Manson goes for his twisting leg lock on El Hijo del Tirantes, only to be caught with his cheese grater and the bloodfest begins. At one point Chessman spears Manson through a wood board and Hijo del Tirantes gets thumbtacks stuck in his hand giving the count. Finish saw Chessman go to powerbomb Manson through light tubes, Manson slip out and send Chessman through them with a huracanrana. Manson with his leg lock for the submission, then removed his shirt to reveal a Perro Del... oh wait, i'll come back to that in a few shows...

Winner: Charly Manson

3. AAA Title in a cage: Dr. Wagner Jr. vs. Cibernetico vs. Mesias

Big move sees Mesiah hit a splash off the top of the cage on to Dr. Wagner Jr.. Cibernetico is eliminated first after Mesias hits a powerbomb off a table (are these tables made of steel like the ones from the FMW?). Cibernetico is stretchered out. Wagnermaniac hit the ringside and interfere everytime Mesias tries to escape. Wagner Jr. escapes to retain the title in a kind of anti-climatic way...

Winner: Dr. Wagner Jr.

10/3 - Taped on August 30, 2009 in Tlalnepantla, Mexico

1. Mini Abismo Negro, May Flowers, Cinthia Moreno & Ozz vs. Mascarita Divina, Pimpinela Escarlata, Mari Apache & Elegido with Pepe Casas as referee.

Cinthia Moreno with a Thesz Press on Mari Apache on the floor, however Mari catches her and throws her into the crowd. The first two rows are very interactive. Mascarita Divina jumps on the top rope, flips, and hits a huracanrana on Mini Abismo that looked incredible. Finish saw Elegido pin Ozz with a powerbomb...

Winners: Elegido, Mari Apache, Pimpinela Escarlata & Mascarita Divina

2. Billy Boy & Sexy Star vs. Aerostar & Fabi Apache with El Hijo del Tirantes as referee.

Billy Boy comes out with long hair with eventually leads to the wig being removed. Aerostar hits a nice plancha where he jumps on the middle rope and just goes over the top on to Billy. Sexy Star pins Fabi Apache with a powerbomb and challenges her for her title.

Winners: Billy Boy & Sexy Star

3. Cibernetico vs. Mesias with Poero as referee.

Wow... maybe I should just leave it at that. I would KILL to see Cibernetico vs. Gronda XXX in a 100 yard dash. Finish was Cibernetico and Mesias crash through a wood board/make shift table on the floor for the double countout. The 100 yard dash would be more entertaining.

Winner: Whoever didn't see this match...

4. Zorro, Escoria & Cuervo vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. (without title), Silver King and Electroshock with El Hijo del Tirantes as referee.

Finish saw Electroshock submit Cuervo...

Winners: Dr. Wagner Jr., Silver King & Electroshock

5. Loser Leaves Town Cage match: Alex Koslov (champion) vs. Rocky Romero vs. Sugi vs. Teddy Hart vs. Extreme Tiger vs. Jack Evans with Pepe Casas as referee.

Spotfest. Extreme Tiger hits a high cross body off the top of the cage on Alex Koslov and Rocky Romero. Tiger is the first to escape so unfortunately, he will not be “fired”. In a move I loved, Teddy Hart is on the top rope and Jack Evans is on his shoulders. Sugi runs up and hits a reverse huracanrana on Jack Evans. Teddy Hart escapes. Sugi goes to hit another reverse huracanrana on Evans, but Jack lands on his feet and jumps over Sugi to escape. As Alex Koslov goes to pull Rocky Romero back in, Sugi escapes on the opposite side of the ring. Sugi gets about half way down the cage and does a backflip to the floor which seemed a bit unnecessary. Romero and Koslov battle back and forth for awhile, Romero kicks Koslov off the cage and escapes, so Alex Koslov is fired. We know that to be true because Roland says so.

Loser: Alex Koslov

10/10 - Taped on September 6, 2009 in Tula, Mexico (much easier to pronounce than Tlalnepantla)

1. Mini Abismo Negro, Polvo de Esterllas, Sexy Star & Deccnis vs. Octagoncito, Pimpinela Escarlata, Mari Apache & Gato Eveready with Piero as referee.

Finish saw Mari Apache stomp the hell out of Sexy Star when Deccnis runs in for the save. Deccnis pins Mari with a “modified” Michinoku Driver (I love how everything outside of a normal move can just be called modified. It makes life easier). Mari takes the stretcher job.

Winner: Deccnis, Mini Abismo Negro, Polvo de Esterllas & Sexy Star

2. AAA Mixed Tag Team Titles: Oriental & Cinthia Moreno vs. Aerostar & Fabi Apache with Pepe Casas as referee.

Oriental comes out wearing a Perro Del Mal shirt. Well, he might've under his gear for all we know. Finish saw Oriental hit a sit down powerbomb on Fabi Apache when Sexy Star runs out with a chair. She goes to hold Fabi, Oriental takes a swing and hits Sexy. You'd think rudos would just stop doing that since it never works in the end. Fabi gets the chair and hits Oriental, then Cinthia Moreno, pinning Moreno.

Now Oriental can put that shirt on.

Winners: new champions Aerostar & Fabi Apache

3. Gronda II, Elegido & Jack Evans vs. Nicho, Joe Lider & Gronda XXX with Piero as referee.

I read that AAA really loves Jack Evans, but now i'm starting to wonder. The most pointless spot I ever saw was Nicho and Joe Lider coming off opposite ropes to take down Elegido with a leg sweep. WHY?!?! Oh wait... Joe Lider...

Here, I feel like I need to give a story. Back in the day, I went to an indie show promoted by Dennis Caraluzzo that was headlined by Jerry Lawler and Eddie Gilbert (see, THAT is back in the day) with my then stable mate, Bob Evans (who runs the EPW and its wrestling school (www.epwwrestling.com)) and Rob Veth... The undercard saw some guy with a mummy gimmick who proceeded to botch every single move he attempted. He started to climb to the top rope and we joked about it, one of us questioning if he would try a moonsault. He did and it was picture perfect. We were all stunned...

What does ANY of this have to do with Joe Lider you might ask? Well, here is something to remember because I doubt you will EVER hear me say this again...

Finish saw Joe Lider on the top rope, jump off and hit Elegido with a perfect backcracker for the pin. I gave Joe Lider credit...

The Grondas, Grondi, whatever were only in briefly, giving us a tease to something we're glad we'll never have to see. This was pretty much a squash to get over Gronda XXX, which now in hindsight, seems pretty silly...

Winners: Joe Lider, Nicho & Gronda XXX

I feel dirty now...

4. Dr. Wagner Jr., Electroshock, Silver King & Electroshock vs. Extreme Tiger, Marco Corleone, La Parka II & Mesias

Well, here's the deal. AAA started 30 minutes late due to soccer (I thought that only happened to CMLL). Plus they wasted time with a four week old recap. So this cut off a few minutes into the match. DVRs are strict with the times.

So according to the Cubs fan's site...

Winners: Extreme Tiger, Marco Corleone, La Parka II & Mesias
