ECW 12-10-1996
1.Show opens with Taz and Joey Styles making fun of the ECW show names like Holiday Hell,Hardcore Heaven and so on but then say WWE's ppv names aren't any nicer. Styles says blame it on Finkle.Taz takes a shot at Bubba Ray Dudleys weight and then says that he trained him. Anyway on with the show
2.They open with a clip of Raven beating the Sandman for the ECW title in a barbed wire match. Man does the WWE On Demand music fucking suck. They go to the ECW video open and I hadn't seen this video in a while and watching it makes me wonder how most if not all of these guys aren't in wheel chairs from some of the sick bumps taken (Dreamer off the stage thru tables missing 2/3 tables,Sabu doing a springboard flip onto scorpio in the first row but bouncing off a table,Way too many)
3.We come back with Joey Styles running down a timeline of the ECW title and its past winners from the beginning where Shane Douglas spat on the NWA title and made the ECW title the "official" heavyweight title. And to think Corraluzzo thought it was a work. Timeline ends with raven holding the ECW title.
4.They Come back with still photos of the barbed wire match and from the stills it looked brutal but from what I remember they didn't play this match on TV cause it wasn't that good and the table gave out on the finishing spot. If I'm wrong please correct me but I think that's what happened
5. D-Von dudley is cutting a promo where he gets cut off by the beginning of what sounds like the beautiful people by marilyn manson. I was expecting Axl Rotten to come out since he was supposed to be his tag team partner but then i see him standing there and out thru the crowd comes the BWO. They pass out BWO bingo cards.Stevie cuts a promo plugging the shirt doing his best Joey Styles imitation and then calls AXL,Ian Rotten which gets a pop and a small Ian sucks chant. D-von and Axl attack the BWO but here come the GANGSTAS out to the most awful generic rap song ever. Typical Gangstas brawl with New Jack piledriving Dvon on the floor and then putting him thru a table with a dive off the stage. Axl gets hit with a Stevie Kick and New Jack hits the chair to the face off the top rope for the pinfall. Typical ECW brawl but crowd was into it. After the match New JAck put on a BWO shirt. Now that was just weird
6. We go back to Joey Styles and Taz in the studio where Taz asks "What r the Gangstas up to now?" They stare blankly into the air. Then they thought better and started to put Jack over saying how he was a great athlete who tried out for the falcons and taz had a nice talk with him on his last night in ECW. Meh
7.A very good Shane Douglas promo with Francine airs in front of a Christmas tree. He runs down Gary Wolfe making fun of his injury but putting over that he has a heart of a gladiator and like a true ECW wrestler wants to get back in the ring right now. He then says"you're very very thankful because you've got your memories and I got your girl" Good Douglas promo.Both Shane and Francine looked very young here.
8.Joel Gertner promo interrupted by the BWO.They try to recruit Gertner to be their "Bisch". Gertner refuses and pretty much says Bisch had a ton of surgeries so he could look like him. gertner makes fun of meanie's belly,Stevie follows with "Well that's the pot calling the kettle black" Without a beat 3 and 1/2 (Played by RF video owner Rob Feinstein) says "Someone say pot?" good little promo
9. An RVD and a Taz promo aired for their match next week. Very short and to the point
10.Chris Candido comes in while Joey Styles tries to go to the next match coughing and sneezing and pretending to be sick saying how much he wanted to wrestle tonight but because he was so sick he couldn't and asked if he could sit in with Joey and do analysis. On top of that he kept hugging Joey for warmth.Classic Candido.Pure Gold
11.Brian Lee v Louis Spicolli-Candido puts over teaming with both men and that him and louie could've been champs if he lost weight (Referring to the angle they did in WWF with Louis trying to get into the Bodydonnas). Louis has his hair bleach blond but with a buzz cut and Chris says "He's even trying to look like me" Match starts with Lee throwing some really bad punches in the corner and hitting a lariat after an Irish whip out of the buckle. Follows that up with a very weak boot to the head and then hits three fast elbwo drops off the ropes. Louie hits a flying forearm that lee sells like the Undertaker (had to get that in some how) Louie throws ref pee wee moore down and lee hits louie right in the eye with a gimmick and louie gets color. Lee pitches him to the floor and works on the eye. HE goes to the top rope to dive on louie in the front row but louie was too far away so he climbed back down (Surprised this wasn't edited since Paul E was the man who could edit anyone into being a star) He then jumps again and works over the eye more. End of the match comes where louie's so blinded he dvd's the ref and candido runs in and they do a two on one beat down. But here comes Shane Douglas with a ref shirt. Louie fires back and hits candido and lee with dvd's and covers lee. Shane counted 1-2-3. But of course it wasn't the real ref. Louie figures out that's its shane and they go at it. Louie hooks em up for the DVD to a really big pop from the ecw faithful but lee catches him by the throat and hits a chokeslam for the pinfall. Beat down continues and here comes Pitbull2 for the save to a big pop but quickly gets chokeslammed over the top thru a table
Very good storytelling with the eye injury and the crowd was super hot. Not a good match but the story was worth watching it
12.Show ends with Joey interviewing Raven.Raven admits to being stripped of the title cause he had to go to rehab for the 7th time (true story dont know bout the 7th time tho) He said Paul and Todd brought em back cause they knew it would pop the box office. He then goes onto to say that "The only person that can beat me and has never beaten me.....is me"
