| The Rumble overall was a decent show. At the very least I was entertained, and for sure it had a few great moments like Mickie's revenge, Khali's elimination by Beth, and Shawn's elimination, of which it took me reading FFW to know fore sure was planned. It's not like any of the matched made me want to claw my eyes out, and any match involving Ezekiel, no matter how impressive those traps are, has that chance. The thing that's really confusing to me is that there are multiple posters in the feedbacks that have been posted commenting on Edge's physique, and that mystifies me. First, he's obviously in fine enough shape that he's medically cleared to wrestle. That's great. Now here's the thing. "Medically cleared" and "jacked to the gills" are two totally separate things and I would guarantee you he did not a single bit of cardio or probably much of anything other than toning with light weights for his upper body strength for what, 7 months? How in God's name is he supposed to look after being the definition of immobile for half the year? The fact that he's in any kind of ring shape at all is a miracle, let alone expecting him to come back with abs peeking through. he's a guy who had no choice but to sit on his ass for an extended period of time. Once you hit you thirties your body isn't the great devouring, easy-care machine it was in the teens and twenties. That shit needs maintenance and he was FUCKING INJURED. Jesus. Overall the only thing I thought while watching was "Goddamn I am glad Edge is back." I didn't care about his physique. It was a nice surprise, topped off with him winning the rumble and yet another GREAT camera shot, in my mind topping the elimination chamber shot last year of his expression after eliminating Cena, of Cena eliminating Batista, a closeup of Cena's face, and then Edge slowly coming into view behind him, stalking. Honestly? That shot alone made the Rumble worth my money. Fuck all these people judging a man based on his physique. Take those comments, and then sit back and wonder why people like Edge and Rey Mysterio, two very, very talented workers of our generation, chose to take steroids at one time or another. Congratulations, you're perpetuating the myth. |
