wXw 16 Carat Gold tournament first day report 3-5 Oberhausen w/TNA, ROH & Japanese stars

By Timo Knopf

It was
a great show where every match was unique in its
own way.

All matches were first round tournament matches
save for the Tag match which was a wXw Tag Team Title match.

2007 tournament winner Chris Hero beat 2008 winner Bad Bones in the main
event. MOTN. Hero made his triumphant return to wXw after 2 years
of absence. Crowd ate up his every move.

Big Van Walter beat Daisuke Sekimoto in a strong man competition
type of match full of deadlift suplexes and powerbombs. I have never heard
such loud bumps before in my life.

Claudio Castagnoli beat UK World of Sport legend Johny Kidd in a gentlemen's
catch style of a match. Claudio again looked like a greek god, hewn from stone.
