WWC TV Report 7/31 featuring Tony Atlas and a lot of recaps.

The program starts with a quick recap of all the feuds in WWC right now. Shelton Benjamin vs. Ray Gonzalez, Carlito vs. Vampiro (in reality Carlitos feud is with El 3 Veces Mega Campeka Ricky Banderas aka Mesias), Zona Urbana vs. Thunder and Lightning and Sensacional Carlitos vs. Orlando Colon. Also the commentator tells us about the change of heart of Chris Joel. Now Chris Joel is considered a Rebel without a cause because now he is a heel instead of a baby face. By the way, WWC didnt bother to explain this.

Instead of a match we see a recap of the feud between Sensacional Carlitos and Orlando Colon for the WWC Puerto Rican Title. They start with a clip of Night of Champions card early in 2010 in Ponce, where Carlitos became champion when he defeated Colon with pin fall. Then we see a backstage confrontation between Carlitos and Colon. They start to shove each other but quickly Hiram Tua gets between them. Tua has a long history with the two rivals. Tua originally was Sensacional Carlitos partner as Los Aereos. Later Tua double cross Carlitos and form a tag team with Orlando. These days, Tua is again a baby face and Carlitos tag team partner only on special occasions since Carlitos has become star on his own for WWC. Then we see the final moments of Carlitos and Orlandos match in Aniversario 2010 where Orlando regained the Puerto Rican title after hi hit Carlito with a DDT on top of a steel chair.

Orlando Colon does his promo via telephone and he promise to keep his title because he is on his way to become a legend in Puerto Rico. Sensacional Carlitos promise to stop being Mr. Nice Guy and his says that he wont care if Orlando gets hurt or not during their match. We go to a commercial break.

First and only match: Chris Joel defeated Tony Atlas via pinfall.

This match took place during the second night of Anviersario 2010 in Ponce. The least we can talk about this match the better. We see both wrestlers in some kind of challenge of who does the best bodybuilding posing routine. Obviously Atlas, attacks Chris Joel from behind. Remember that Chris Joel was a baby face back then. Thats basically the same thing as being stupid. Atlas throws some punches, a headbutt and a suplex. After Atlas bites Joel forehead, Joel decides to do his comeback with punches. Atlas throws Joel to the corner and tries to tackle him. Joel jumps and does a sunset flip and gets the 1-2-3 for the victory. That was it. Less than three minutes on TV. We go to a commercial break.

After the break we see our third recap this time is the recap of the Zona Urbana (Chiacano and BJ) feud against Thunder and Lightning. BJ wants to become the first Grand Slam Champion of WWC (he only needs the WWC Tag Team Titles) and Chicano is looking for vengeance, first from Los Fugitivos de la Calle, then from Abbad and Idol Stevens and now from Thunder and Lightning. Poor Chicano, too much hate in his heart. We see the final moments of the Three Way match for the WWC Tag Team titles in Aniversario 2010. The match that made Thunder and Lightning champions one more time.

Via telephone Thunder again asks if Chicano and BJ can trust each other. At the end the masked man promises that he and his partner will do anything to keep the titles. Zona Urbana does their promo inside a ring and they said that Thunder and Lightning are the past of professional wrestling and that they basically are the present and the future of professional wrestling in the island. Commercial break.

Fourth recap. Now is Shelton Benjamin and Ray Gonzalez turn. Im getting tire of this shit. During the Aniversario weekend, Benjamin defeated both Tommy Dreamer and Primo Colon. Also he got himself involved in Ray Gonzalez business. He attacked Gonzalez in Ponce and almost cost Gonzalez the victory the next night in Bayamon. Now we see Jose Chaparro (basically his is the manager of every single American heel in Puerto Rico) talking about the reasons why he was no able to do his job as a manager in the biggest night of the Aniversario weekend. Supposedly he was poison with a glass of wine. He thinks Gonzalez was behind this. While he is saying this BS we see images of him being taking out of the Coliseum in an ambulance. Something that was real (Chaparro did suffer some health issues previous the start of the event) was turn into a weak angle that doesnt add anything interesting to Benjamin and Gonzalezs feud.

Gonzalez recognizes in his promo that Benjamin is a great wrestler but now he has to prove himself in Puerto Rico. Why? Because even though WWC doesnt have WWEs glitz, here in WWC you have to prove yourself as a sound technical wrestler (thats not true). He continues saying that here in WWC you have to sweat and bleed to be successful (that part is true). Gonzalez says that is precisely what he has being doing for the last twenty years just to be on top and be the champion that he is. He promises to give Benjamin a lesson tonight.

We go to the final segment of the program: Lo que esta pasando en WWC con Alejandro Rodil. In English that will be translated as Whats happening now in WWC with your host Alejandro Rodil.

The first thing that is happening in WWC right now is that WWE Raw World Tour is coming to the island in September (this is hopeless). The other thing happening in WWC is the feud between Carlito and El 3 Veces Mega Campeon. We are treated with the final moments of Carlitos Three Faces of Death Challenge in which he was suppose to wrestle two mystery opponents and Booker T. The first mystery opponent was his cousin Orlando Colon. Orlando didnt want it to face his cousin and he was count it out. Booker T was the second opponent and during his match with Carlito, Orlando tried to convince his cousin about hitting Booker with a steel chair. Carlito threw the chair away and Orlando proceeded to super kick Booker and the referee. Then Orlando tried to hit Carlito with a punch but miss and Carlito took care of his younger cousin with the backstabber.

El 3 Veces Mega Campeon became the new ref since the original was KO by Orlando. El 3 Veces shit its too long. Mesias took the steel chair and hit Carlitos back with it. Booker went for the pin a got the win. Now enters WWE Spanish commentator Hugo Savinovich demanding an explanation from Mesias. The only answer that Hugo got was a nasty chair shot to the head courtesy of Mesias. This was very similar to the one Hugo received from Hulk Hogan in Wrestlemania XIX. After taking care Hugo, Mesias tells Carlito that he is the third mystery opponent and proceeds to attack Carlito and pin him after a big splash from the third rope.

Now we have Savinovich reactions via telephone. He basically says that Mesias betrayed him, betrayed Carlito and worst of all, Mesias betrayed the people of Puerto Rico (even though almost all the fans in the Coliseum were cheering Mesias after he nail Savinovich and Carlito with the steel chair). He finish saying that a Puerto Rican should not be fighting another Puerto Rican.

Carlito does his promo and says that even though Mesias try to finish Carlitos career in Aniversario, he couldnt finish the job because no one can finish Carlitos career except Carlito. I guess that message was directly to WWE. Carlito then ask Mesias why he hides behind Vampiros back if he (Mesias) is suppose to be the number one wrestler in Puerto Rico. Carlito promises that sooner or later they are going to meet one on one. Carlito then says that Vampiro doesnt have any chance against him. That almost ten years ago when they battle for the first time, Carlito was a rookie but now he is a complete wrestler. Carlito again reminds all the viewers that Vampiro doesnt have any chance.

The show ends with a mystery person (former IWA wrestler Gilbert) meeting Jose Chaparro. The viewers obviously cant see the face of the guy but Chaparro promises that the Revolution starts tonight in Bayamon.

Final thoughts:

This program didnt work for me. The only match presented was weak. They said at the top of the program that Chris Joel became a heel but didnt put him on camera to explain the reason why. Too many recaps of things the viewers have already seen. But thats something we should expect because WWC hasnt recorded any matches since Aniversario. During the recaps I think is better to hear the live audio and comments of the wrestlers instead of the commentator in a voice over. Let the wrestlers and his actions tell their story.
