JBL is in the ring at the start of the show. He calls out Rey and demands a rematch. Rey says he already gave him his match and he beat him. Rey then challenges JBL to put his US title on the line against anyone. JBL is a foolish heel so he does so and Rey introduces Lashley as his opponent.

Bobby Lashley vs. JBL

Lashley wins in a short match with the spear. Thus making him the new US champion. The crowd was hot for it so everything was good.

After the breaks JBL is outraged. He breaks a lamp in Teddy’s office and demands the decision be rescinded. Teddy refuses and JBL gets in his face. Teddy threatens a firing and JBL cools out. JBL says he could beat Rey and if he can’t he’ll leave Smackdown. Teddy takes him up on it and now it’s gonna happen tonight.

Tatanka vs. Simon Dean

Perhaps it was the Hispanic audience, or perhaps it was all the wacky Lakota tribe videos but the crowd was into Tatanka. He did little outside of chops and Dean bumped all over the place. A fine little squash.

We go backstage where Teddy is apparently trying to keep Matt Hardy happy as he’s not getting a push. Paul Heyman shows up and Teddy is mad. Teddy says that he knows Paul’s here to scout talent for his new ECW project. Which apparently we all should have just known about.

Three 6 Mafia plays for Mark Henry’s entrance. I don’t care so I fast forward.

Chris Benoit vs. Mark Henry

This was a pretty good little match. The finish was BS as Henry got DQed for slamming Benoit into the post repeatedly. Apparently they’re building an angle off of when Benoit injured Mark Henry’s shoulder. Which was roughly two years ago, apparently Mark Henry just remembered and decided to receipt. This match was highlighted by Mark Henry putting Benoit in the camel clutch, attempting to break his back, and humble him the old country way. The last part didn’t happen, at least not on screen.

When I was watching the Benoit thing I thought this could be Ricky Steamboat level big deal. As people genuinely like and connect with Benoit. Of course this is WWE so they immediately went right into the King of the Ring segment. That said this was an awesome segment. Regal was hosting the coronation and Booker T and Sharmell road out on a float with a thrown and a Pyro machine. They need to do skits with Booker and Sharmell just driving around town on this thing. It was awesome. Regal read from parchment Booker’s coronation. Sharmell then put the robe and crown on him. Booker had this look like he was almost going to cry. Seriously this was great stuff. Sharmell cut a promo and then gave the mic to Booker. Booker dubbed her Queen Sharmell and she cried as though she didn’t know it was gonna happen then did the Miss America wave as Booker cut his promo. The best part of this skit was Regal making Tony Chimmell bow to Booker. Booker hands the mic to Regal as he declares long live King Booker, over and over again as Pyro goes off and confetti falls. This almost makes up for the years of never doing anything with Booker T.

We go to break and come back with Nunzio and Vito. They’re still building the Vito is a tranny angle. Why, I do not know.

London and Kendrick vs. Vito and Nunzio

Kendrick not only got the pin in this match but also got the hot tag. So perhaps WWE have finally warmed up to young Brian. Or perhaps next week he’s gonna turn on London and they’ll do a feud where London just beats his ass repeatedly and makes him look like a goof. I’m fine either way.

Mr. Kennedy is returning.

Rey is stretching backstage and Chavo comes up to him. Chavo tells Rey that he has his back tonight. They hug people cheer. Love ladies and gentlemen, love.

Finlay vs. The Pirate

A squash as fodder for the debut of the leprechaun. I hope Johnny Ace is happy. Cause he may be the only one.

JBL vs. Rey Mysterio

They did a weird thing at the start where JBL basically won but Rey got his foot on the ropes so they had to start the match over again. I guess they needed to drive home that regardless of the finish JBL can beat Rey. Rey won with the 619 and the leg drop. Chavo got blasted with a chair shot, but luckily he got his arms up. He and Rey celebrated as JBL mourned the fact that he now has to go to the A-Show and fued with HBK. That poor poor man.

Overall an alright show. Not a great show, not an amazing show, but nothing wholly offensive. We could’ve used a Khali promo though they pushed the Taker match hard and showed the picture of Khali pinning Taker with one foot. The leprechaun thing was weird and didn’t get much of a reaction.
