--Every major media outlet in Montreal has picked up the story of the 12/11 show headlined by Georges St. Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck for the welterweight title being at the Bell Centre.  The expectation is a similar night to the GSP vs. Matt Serra show in 2008 (thanks to Patric Laprade) 

 

--Regarding last week's cable ratings, USA was first again with a 2.4 weekly average.  That's about to change once the NFL season starts and ESPN dominates the fourth quarter.  TNT was second at 1.9 and ESPN was at 1.8.  Syfy was No. 12 at 1.0, and they'll be going up from there with the addition of two hours of Smackdown.  Spike was No. 25 at 0.6.  For those wondering about Bravo and Bravo picking up NXT, Bravo was No. 22 with a 0.8 average.  So NXT would be just slightly above what the station averages, and for pro wrestling, for it to be beneficial, it usually has to average significantly above the station average because the premium sponsors don't want to buy ad time on wrestling shows.  Raw was No. 10 and No. 11 last week, behind The Closer, Rizzoli & Isles, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, Covert Affairs,. Jersey Shore, two NFL preseason games (4.2 and 3.9 ratings) and White Collar.  In 18-49, it was No. 8 and No. 10.

--Diamond Dallas Page has filed suit against the band 3OH!3 because they did the diamond cutter symbol.  He filed the suit in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.  Hopefully nobody sends DDP any WEC tapes of Ben Henderson.

 

--UFC 125, which may be headlined by Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen, will be on New Year's night, not New Year's Eve, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. 

 

--On Monday's Pardon the Interruption they had a mailbag question asking the hosts if Randy Couture's win over James Toney proves MMA guys are better fighters than boxers.  Both Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser blew off the question. Wilbon said that if Couture was in a boxing match with Toney, that he'd lose.  Kornheiser said the fight was like putting someone in a race car and asking them to beat Jeff Gordon.  Kornheiser also talked about Muhammad Ali fighting "some guy in Japan (thanks to Steve Khan)

--Michael McKittrick wrote about the sports talk stations in Boston and all the UFC calls, he said WEEI had hosts talk about UFC 10-15 minutes per hour but it was mostly negative, saying they didn't think the sport had staying power, that fans don't like fighting on the ground and how the matches were boring.  He said most of the talk was still on the Patriots.

--Shark Fights announced that before the PPV on 9/11, which starts at 10 p.m. Eastern, that the undercard fights would air on the sherdog.com web site starting at 7 p.m.  They had promised a TV deal for the prelims, and, well, that's not exactly something that's going to help them much.  The prelims do have name fighters, with Ronnie Mannn vs. Douglas Evans for the lightweight title (yes, they put their title in a dark match), Paul Bradley vs. Johnny Rees, Aaron Rosa vs. Devin Cole, Marcus Hicks vs. Karen Darabedyan and Pete Spratt vs. Eric Davila.
