--There is a negative story on Linda McMahon at http://www.middletownpress.com/articles/2010/08/31/opinion/  Disagreed with some as the guy who wrote it said how Linda McMahon wouldn't be able to apply rational management and fiscal restraint to government.  Perhaps that would be Linda's strong suit.  The company has been profitable and at times from a pure business standpoint, well ahead of the curve in letting employees go before a downturn happens as opposed to after.  The company has been profitable most years, not every year, but every year since they got rid of the restaurant.  He said Linda intends to win with an unrelenting campaign of character assassination.  There is something to that, but I expect it'll end up going both ways by the time the race is over.

--Karo Parisyan returns to UFC on 11/20 in Detroit against Dennis Hallman at UFC 123.  Parisyan canceled two shows at the last minute, and tested positive for drugs in a third before Dana White cut him less than a year ago and said he would never bring him back.  White made the call to bring him back.  Parisyan had been begging for another shot.

--John Cena talks to CBS about the movie "Legendary" including his channeling Hulk Hogan by saying that when he did his first movie in Australia, he flew back and forth and did his schedule (in fact, they did an injury angle where Carlito had Jesus stab him and he was gone for months).  At least he didn't talk about when he flew back and forth he was able to have eight or nine days each week.  Basically he's going to continue doing movies and working WWE.  Story is at http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31749_162-20015481-10391698.html   

 

--NWA champion Adam Pearce said he is going to try and work through a torn right rotator cuff injury.  He's had a problem with his shoulder since tearing his AC joint in 2000 in a match against Mr. Anderson in Green Bay, and with the stability of the shoulder compromised, another injury was likely and really lucky it took so long.  Pearce said the injury took place in his 8/7 match with Bryan Danielson although he doesn't know when in the match it happened.  It's not a complete tear, so he's going to work on rehab and has been undergoing therapy for about a week.  He's hoping that four weeks of therapy will allow him to recover enough strength to avoid surgery.

--DOA comes to Portland, OR on 9/12 for its second anniversary show with a nine-team Rumble gauntlet match for the tag title.  Christopher Daniels will be working for the promotion on 10/3 in Oregon City and also do a seminar in that city from 1-3 p.m. that day for $50.

 

--Regarding Tony Kornheiser's comments on the Couture vs. Toney fight, his actual comments were the fight was like asking a hose racing hockey to get in a car and race Jeff Gordon.  Basically he was saying boxing and MMA were two completely different sports, which they are. --Darren Aronofsky, who produced "The Wrestler," had a new movie called "Black Swan" premiere yesterday.  Aronofsky compared the two movies saying, "The more I looked into the world of ballet, I actually started to see all these similarities to the world of wrestling.  They both have these performers that use their bodies in sort of extremely, intense physical ways.  Their entire performance is based on intense physicality."  (thanks to Chuck Langerman)
