1. Matt Classic vs Human Tornado
Tornado gives Classic a copy of Shaft on VCR to many groans. Classic smashes the tape to establish himself as a heel and lariats Torny. Heat on Tornado for a few minutes before he fires up with a very sloppy comeback. Hits a flippy to the outside (which looked like a move Classic wasn't up for taking) before tossing Matt into the ring, for the Slick Leg Drop for the pin.
Ok opener in 5 mins. *3/4
Vampiro in the ring cuttin' a vague promo about the 'old times' and preconceptions.
Matt Sydal interupts him. Saying MTV viewers dont want old guys in masks, they want real human beings (amazingly this is a heel promo) and attacks Vamp. Gone to break as Vampiro bleeds.
2. Syxx Pac (Sean Waltman) vs. Tyler Buck
Test of strength to begin, which is weird for these guys. Pac with a kick to the gut, then a club to the back. Syxx Pac works him pver until Buck gets a kick to the face from an early back drop attempt. No heat but we expected that. Pac takes a drop kick to the outside which I wouldn't have done. Tyler with an SSP from the buckle. That took a lot of balls. WOW! Both men counted out.
I really enjoyed this match. Short as it was there was good psychology and the finish made sense and put over the legitimicy of a move like an SSP. *1/3
Video package for the Filth and The Fury (Matt Cross and Teddy Hart.) Obviously well shot stuff, showing lots of moves and ATTITUDE! (their words.)
3. Jack Evans vs. Matt Sydal
Pretty obvious that they're trying to establish Evans as their guy to build around. I can think of a few reasons not to but he has mountains of charisma so why not. Sydal gets the cheap heat by insulting the crowd before Evans slaps him in the face to start the WRESTLING BOUT!
Sydal gets the heat with the low blow behind the ref's back. He's not a great heel in-ring but he does have the best facials for being the guy you would love to see get punched. Evans on the babyface come back with a flurry of chops, and a nice hanging somersault splash. Evans laid out Sydal for what appears to be his finisher here, a 450, before a huge black man tosses him off the ropes for the DQ.
Match = ***. Good spots, slowly paced (surprisingly) but I want to see more from them.
Mysterious black man and Matt Sydal put the boots to Evans to end the show.
