We'll be starting our live UFC (and Comcast) play-by-play at approximately 7:00 PM PST/10:00 PM EST. Will Sanchez upset Crocop? Will Eastman upset Jackson? Will Admin Tony actually have enough credits to order the show? Will Comcast come through with HD? The questions are many.
Well, I called the no HD part. At least we didn't have a credits problem.
They're burying Lutter for failing to make weight. They've actually done the best job possible with what God handed to them, because after the first five minutes of burial on this show, plus Anderson saying he wanted to kill the fucker for disrespecting him (not those exact words), I'm way more into the fight now than I was yesterday.
1. Patrick Cote vs. Scott Smith. Cote won a largely boring fight via decision. The defining moment of the fight was when he stunned Smith in round two and then did -- nothing. Crowd booed this vociferously.
2. Rampage Jackson vs. Beastman Eastman. ~! No upset. Quinton was more tentative than in the old days, but still he was in control of this fight and it seemed to be only a matter of time before the knockout. And that's what happened, with about 1:20 left in the second round.
3. John Halverson vs. Roger Huerta. Huerta won in like 10 seconds after 14 unanswered punches to the head. The question was whether this was set up via a knee to the head while Halverson was on all fours. The announcers through it was, but Huerta claimed it was a knee to the shoulder, and the video appeared to back that up (although there wasn't a great shot of it).
4. Crocop vs. Eddie Sanchez. Crocop won via TKO in round one. You're stunned. He was never in trouble, but also looked like he didn't take the guy seriously at all, which will likely cause him trouble again at some point in his career. The people were super into him thought, and he's a SCARY MAN.
5. Anderson Silva vs. Travis Lutter not for the Middleweight Title. Lutter tapped in the second round after Silva put him in a triangle and then started laying in elbows to the head. The question was whether these elbows were legal or not. What a weird show this has been.
a. Frank Edgar vs. Tyson Griffin. Griffin won the upset via unanimous decision. At the end of round three Griffin put him in a kneebar and was cranking like nothing you ever saw, pulling to the point where Rogan on commentary said he coulnd't even watch it, and despite all this one judge STILL gave the round to Edgar 10-9. Don't ask me.
b. Jorge Rivera vs. Terry Martin. 14 second KO by Terry Martin. Well.
Thanks for joining us, kids. We'll be back by 11:30 PM PST with a special radio show for members running down both this PPV and WSX, since Admin Nailz also watched that program with us last night. Should be a good time. Talk to you then!
