by ANCHOR~!
Howard Finkle was the ring announcer, he is the best ever. He came out to Welcome to the Jungle by Guns n Roses. He welcomed us all to the show, he even mentioned the arena name which is a rarity.
Armando Estrada came out and ran down the card. We then opened with Jesse/Festus v.s. Deuce/Domino. This was a bad match, only Jesse really impressed me with his high flying moves. Jesse/Festus won with their double team move to get the pinfall.
Next up was John Morrison against Jayden(Johnny) Jeter. When Jeter made his entrance, Only my voice was heard as the crowd was completely silent. Some people remembered who he was but not that many. God bless these guys as they tried to have a good match, but the crowd just didn't care. There was chants for “TNA TNA TNA” Two people chanted this and they got funny looks. Jeter went for a kick and “hurt” his leg. Morrison then hit a swinging neckbreaker for the pin.
Dave Taylor came out to face Chuck Palumbo (with his Motorcycle). Everybody booed Taylor (because he is English) and chanted SCOTLAND. Taylor then got on the mic and cut an AWESOME PROMO. He said “You will all be saying ENGLAND ENGLAND when they when the World Cup tomorrow” Great stuff. Palumbo won after a big boot for the pinfall.
Maryse/Michelle McCool v.s. Katie Lea/Victoria – nobody knew who Katie Lea was. Michelle got the pin on Katie Lea to win the match. Michelle seemed to be LOVING LIFE.
Kane beat Kevin Thorn in a very short match after a Chokeslam. Howard said it was time for an intermission, I listened to Coughlin's Five Star Radio during the break. Note – Rich Franklin will beat Anderson Silva tomorrow at UFC 77. Glad Mr Coughlin is on the right side.
CM Punk v.s. Big Daddy V/Matt Striker – Everyone wanted a picture of V. Punk had his ribs taped up. Punk was over but there was a few chants of hate. Punk and Striker started it out. Big Daddy V got the tag and pinned Punk clean after a samoan drop and a elbow drop in a very short match. Poor Punk!
The lights went out before the next match for about 2 minutes, so Hornswoggle could be placed under the ring.
Jamie Noble vs Rey Mysterio – THIS WAS AN AWESOME MATCH! Although a few people didn't think that, mainly the people that chanted TNA and get this “BLACK MACHISMO”. Seriously who fucking cares about TNA. How could anyone hate this match, this was the cruiserweight style of match that was so awesome on Smackdown years ago. It would top anything TNA have done with their X Division as of late. Rey won after a 619 and a springboard splash off the top.
Fink announced that WWE will be back in Glasgow on Saturday April 19th 2008 with Smackdown.
Main Event was MVP, Finlay and THE GREAT KHALI~! v.s Matt Hardy, Batista and The Undertaker. I've seen Khali live before but this was the first time I saw him wrestle. He was on the apron for most of it. He looked very concerned when Finlay/MVP were being beaten on. Taker looked very sore when he entered the ring. He asked for some water half way through the match. Hornswoggle hit the ring, but chokeslamed by the Undertaker. Undertaker pinned Finlay after a Tombstone Piledriver.
After Taker left, Batista and Hardy got the fans to cheer and gave handslaps to the crowd including me.
Fink reminded us as we left that WWE will be back in Glasgow on Saturday April 19th 2008 with Smackdown.
They were advertising Power of Scotland as we left which is a show with Muai Thai and MMA fights. It's a 6 hour show – NO THANKS.
Overall this was a better show than RAW from an in ring standpoint. Looking forward to the show next year. {plug}
