Our ongoing (delayed) TUF Finale ongoing play-by-play has begun! Keep checking back for full results of the show!
By the way, the big announcement was not CBS. They said they would be revamping Ultimate Fighter without giving any details, and that Forrest Griffin would be one of the coaches. The second coach will be announced at the VGA's Sunday. The two coaches will be fighting at the end of the season, so I would expect it to be either Quinton Jackson or Tito Ortiz, with the former most likely.
In Hatton/Mayweather news, after five rounds Dan Rafael of ESPN has it four rounds for Mayweather and one for Hatton. I can hear our BOARD buzzing.
1. Dan Barrera vs. Ben Saunders. Good fight so far. Ben dominated round two and we're going into the third. Mayweather vs. Hatton is seven rounds to one for Mayweather at this point. Went the distance. Good fight. Ben should get the decision. The Mayweather fight also appears to be over, but I don't know who won. There was a typo on ESPN that read "Mayweather knocked out Mayweather in the 10th". NO BUYS! Ben won the unanimous decision.
It's confirmed, Mayweather beat Hatton via knockout in the 10th round.
2. George Sotiropoulos vs. Billy Miles. George just owned this dude, beating him in about two minutes with a rear naked choke.
3. Ritchie Hightower vs. Troy Mandaloniz. Hightower came out swinging, but then got either tired or rocked and slowed down. Troy then jabbed him right in the face and hammer fisted him into oblivion on the ground for the stoppage.
4. John Koppenhaver vs. Jared Rollins. A hell of a first round. Virtually all on the ground with John in his guard, and nonstop pounding from both guys. John was busted open heading into round two. Jared beat the ever-loving piss out of him in the second. John survived so we're onto the third. SET YOUR DVR FOR THE REPLAY. This fight was unbelievable, particularly the third round. Back and forth action, and then John, who appeared exhausted to the point of death, did a sweep and landed in several shots to steal the win. An unbelievable battle, better than all but the best pro-wrestling matches this year.
5. Mac Danzig vs. Tommy Speer. Fight went about a minute. Mac got the takedown (not a typo), laid in the ground and pound from the mount, then when Tommy turned over he got his back and tapped him out with a rear naked choke. Mac showed what he was made of here, and that's MANLINESS.
6. Matt Arroyo vs. John Kolosci. Matt tapped him with an armbar in the first round after about four failed submission attempts. Persistence, kids!
7. Clay Guida vs. Roger Huerta. YEAH~! This is the greatest fight you ever saw. Clay Guida is a fucking insane madman and Roger is keeping up, somehow. We're going onto round three. ROGER HUERTA WINS. Talk about a comeback. I don't think I've ever seen a third round with as much action in the first minute as this one. Absofuckinglutely insane. Huerta managed to stun him with a shot, then get his back on a takedown attempt and put on a rear-naked choke for the submission. Perhaps the fight of the year. YOU MUST CATCH THE REPLAY. In fact, I'd be fine paying $49.95 for this free show. It ruled that much.
One more note: It wasn't announced on the air, but Sean Sherk has officially been stripped of the UFC Lightweight Title, so the winner of BJ Penn vs. Joe Stevenson in Manchester in January will become the new champion.
