NWA Showcase TV report for January 25

By Eric Paz

I'm watching this on the NWA website (www.nwawrestling.com), and because of the 'popularity' of the show, the video is slow and choppy and stops playing for no reason.

Opens up with Dave Marquez interviewing Sean Denny, who apparently has a match with BRYAN DANIELSON tonight. Denny is an Englishman. He goes on about how Danielson is known all over the world but he won't take him lightly.

We cut to Dave Marquez and IRONMAN ROB CONWAY in Vegas. They hype up the Young Bucks vs. Black Tiger IV & Cobra II.

Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. Black Tiger IV & Cobra II We're now in Hidalgo, Texas for the tag team match. Young Bucks start off hot, hitting dives to the outside to both Cobra and Black TIger. Cobra is a mysterious masked man from Canada (...) Bucks show some nice double team moves early on. Black Tiger takes over before the break. We're back and Cobra and Tiger heel it up. Cobra chokes Matt with his wrist tape. Cobra misses a spear/tackle and Nick comes in for the hot tag. Heels try to cut him off but he will not be denied. Oh wait, yes he does. Cobra and Tiger hit the HART ATTACK on Nick (y'know, cuz Cobra is from Canada) but Matt makes the save. The Bucks hit their high-flying "More Bang for the Buck" maneuver which finished off many a tag team according to the annoucer. Black Tiger throws salt onto Matt's face and Cobra rolls him up for the win.

Winners: Black Tiger IV & Cobra II

One Man Gang hypes up the NWA. Yay.

Bryan Danielson vs. Sean Denny

We're in Charlotte, North Carolina for this match. "Yee-Haw as they say" says the announcer. Didn't know NC was in the mid-south. Announcers hype up how this match is important to Denny because of Danielson's track record. He wants to make a statement with a win over The Best in the World. Starts off with some nice chain wrestling. Usual AmDrag stuff. Denny mirrors Danielson's offense. Dragon gets the heat by baiting Denny into a handshake. Mexican Surfboard applied. Denny reaches the ropes. A little back and forth action with Dragon dishing out most of the offense. Finish comes when Dragon tries to put on ARMS ACROSS AMERICA (Cattle Mutilation) and Denny rolls on top of him and PINS BRYAN DANIELSON. Sean Denny is your winner.

Winner: Sean Denny

Dragon is a sore loser and starts to beat on Denny until Chance Prophet makes the save.

Back with Marquez and Conway. Marquez says we have Sexy Sonny Samson coming up next, but Conway then says everyone wants to see him wrestle. Marquez wonders if they even have a Conway match in the NWA library. Yes, they do.

Rob Conway vs Don Juan

We're in Houston, Texas now! Conway brings the sports entertainment heat. Nobody evidently likes him and jaw-jacks with the crowd. Don Juan is supposed to be the face but it doesn't seem like anyone cares. Conway flexes a lot. Apparently Don Juan has wrestled for ROH and FIP, but I don't know who he is. Lots of stalling in this match. Don Juan works the head with a side headlock. Apparently he's the strongest man ever cuz he just shoulderblocked the shit out of Conway, making fly out of the ring. That or Conway just oversold a tackle. Commercial break. Don Juan is overpowering Conway, which - given his body type - doesn't really make sense. Even the announcer said, "He may not be in the best shape," which is a nice way to put it. Conway plays possum and attacks Don Juan from behind to get the heat. Conway gives Don Juan a dangerous backdrop suplex. Ouch. Conway misses a elbow from the top and Don Juan starts the comeback. Well, Conway hits his swinging neckbreaker with the legs on the ropes for the pin.

Winner: Rob Conway

Graphic for Adam Pearce (w/ C. Edward Vanderpile) vs. Damien Wayne for the NWA title somewhere in a town called Middlesex.

Back to Conway and Marquez, hyping up the main event along with next week's show, starring TJ Perkins, Rayo de Jalisco, Blue Demon, "Hidaka from Japan", Conway, GENE~! (dinsmore) and Cassandro

Adam Pearce vs. Sean Waltman - NWA Heritage Championship El Paso, Texas for this title match. X-Pac still acts like a douche. Pearce PEARL HARBORS Waltman. Fancy footwork by X-Pac. They brawl outside for a while. Vanderpile cheats and Pearce gets the heat. After much ballyho, X-Pac gets the win via reversing the figure four into a pin (ala the BATTEL~!)

Winner, and new NWA Heritage Champ: Sean Waltman {plug}
