Impact tonight is headlined by Kurt Angle vs. Booker T in a non-title match. I didn't read the spoilers or I have long since forgotten, but what they need to do is have Booker win so we'll have approximately 10 number-one contenders (Christian who should get a rematch, Tomko who pinned Kurt, Samoa Joe who has been promised a title shot, and probably a few I am missing).

MMA fighter dies after sparring

There is a press conference Monday at the Staples Center where Floyd Mayweather will announced whatever the WrestleMania main event is going to be. I expect an angle to set up a tag because I still find a singles match to be a very bad idea.

In what will be an interesting experiment, Yahoo will now be offering the UFC PPVs online. You still must pay $44.95 to watch it on your computer screen, which seems like a dealbreaker to me unless you cannot get it any other way. The upside is they will give you 24 hours of unlimited archive viewing that you can't get with cable or satellite.

Raw was way up to a 3.98 rating with 5.5 million viewers this week. ECW did a 1.4 and two million viewers.

Motor City Machine Guns will be working the April 18th and 19th ROH cards in Chicago and Detroit.

There is a big interview up with Rob Van Dam here.

Albert Ching writes: In case you hadn’t heard, just passing along that former TNA backstage interviewer extraordinaire Leticia Cline is a contestant on CW’s “Beauty and the Geek” this season, starting March 11. No word on if before each one of her segments the host will say TO THE BACK.

Steve in Jersey writes: I just checked out your news update today and I think you might want to double-check the Vince dividend item. As I understand it, the increase is only for Class A shareholders (shmucks like you and I) and not for Class B shareholders (the family). So unless Vince is able to purchase public stock in addition to his private holdings, he's going to have to live with his mere $12 million from the normal 24 cents this quarter.

I can report that Lance Storm survived his knee surgery today, thankfully. He posted about it yesterday (pre-surgery) here.

Mike Moreno and Jermaine Wilson both failed drug tests for marijuana on the February 16th Total Combat show in San Diego.

TNA Lockdown on the 29th takes place in Lowell, MA at the Tsongas Arena.

There is an ROH video wire up here featuring highlights from the Roderick Strong FIP match this past Friday that people said was the stiffest in company history.

KIMBO VS. TANK, the biggest fight since KING KONG VS. GODZILLA, headlines the new 26,000-word Figure Four Weekly newsletter! Maybe it doesn't seem that way, but this was a fight for the AGES, one I will tell my children about. We'll give you the history of Tank and Kimbo, how the fight came about, the myth of the streetfight, why this was a fight that can only come along once per generation, why hardcore MMA fans were upset about it, the business it did, the future of Kimbo and who he should and should not be fighting next, the lessons that can be learned by pro-wrestling, plus, of course, a complete rundown and analysis of the entire show. We've also got the story on Floyd Mayweather and how the deal with WWE came about, the mega match that was talked about but fell through, Mayweather's drawing power in 2007, his biggest fights and where he's going in the future, the plan for WrestleMania at press time, how much he's likely being made, how this compares to the Mike Tyson appearances in 1998, and more. We've got full results from No Way Out with star ratings, thoughts on all the matches, a look at the big bouts planned for WrestleMania so far, what feud does not seem to be clicking, and more. We've also got a full report of the WEC show last Wednesday, a fun show that got lost in the shuffle. In WWE news, the final report on Chris Benoit has come out and we'll go over the main points, including the drugs found in the house, how many pills he and Nancy appeared to be taking per day, what her issues with him were and what she was scared about, what she had told her friends prior to the murder/suicide, the strange things that happened the weekend it went down, including odd phone calls to 411 and strange Internet searches and phone calls by Benoit. Much of this info has never been reported before. We'll talk about the top contenders to get Smackdown, what it would cost them and whether they can afford it, and how it would affect WWE. JBL talks his comeback and his matches with Jericho, who lost a tooth in the feud and how, Hogan's latest BS, update on Cena's movie, more on the Hall of Fame, WWE house show results and how Rey hurt his arm, Austin talks about the Ric Flair retirement storyline and what his original design was (it was his idea), famous wrestler's son busted for DUI, wrestlers in rehab, Rock gets huge honor, PPV injury report, WWE doing great business, Raw ratings, and more. In TNA news we have the latest in the Pacman Jones/Tommy Urbanski case, Angle loses his title and how it all went down, other TNA losses in Japan, whether you'll see it on TV, how the vow renewal affected the ratings, what the idea was, contract notes on Joe and others, and TNA gets some good news. We have more on the Zuffa lawsuit with the former owners of PRIDE, Zuffa sues Randy Couture and why, Zuffa gets a lawsuit filed against them, how the Montreal show is doing and what the ticket prices are from scalpers, BJ Penn BURIES Sean Sherk, Liddell's next fight, the new DREAMS promotion and what it's all about, their plan for the rest of the year, big fights signed, what happened with Mirko Crocop and UFC and what his future holds, IFL loses it's TV deal and what that means for the future, a tons of upcoming events, notes on the death of Johnny Weaver, the Heyman Hustle debuts, former IWGP Champion suffers stroke-like symptoms and how his career parallels others that had similar problems, plus we've got all the news from Mexico including a review of Vampiro's new movie. Vinny also has a review of the WSX First Season box set~! The weekly newsletter, the online version of which members can read every Tuesday (we also have a hardcopy available for a few dollars more per month), has been covering all the news in the world of pro-wrestling and MMA since 1995. It is by far the biggest weekly newsletter available on the Internet (probably on any subject), and we go into far more depth on every story than any other news source you will find anywhere online.
