SUNDAY UPDATE: TNA PPV PREVIEW; HARDYS REUNITE; RING CREW BLOW OUT; BROOKE DEBUTS SHOW
By Dave Meltzer
We're also looking for reports on last night's Raw house show in Charleston WV as well as today's Raw show in Roanoke and Smackdown show in Augusta, GA.
We'll have live PPV coverage beginning at 8 p.m. and we'll be doing a post-show radio show very late tonight on the site.
Tonight's lineup:
*Torneo Cibernetico with Curry Man, Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Averno, Puma, Milano Collection A.T., Masato Yoshino, Doug Williams, Alex Koslov and Tyson Dux - This will open the show and set the stage for the card based on crowd reactions. Expect a spotfest with quick action of guys tagging in and out.
*Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt - No doubt these two could have a good wrestling match, but the storyline calls more for a fight, so they're going to both have to change their normal game.
*Gail Kim vs. Angelina Love - Somehow I expect interference by Velvet Sky and more run-ins out of this one
*Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong for the Knockouts title - It makes no sense after the big pop on Thursday's TV to do the title change back this quickly, so it'll be an interesting match to watch how they do the finish.
*LAX vs. Robert Roode & James Storm (Beer Money) for the tag titles with fans as lumberjacks with straps. This was real embarrassing when they did it last year
*Ultimate X with Kaz vs. Naruki Doi vs. Volador Jr. vs. Daivari with no doubt the winner of the match giving his team the World X Cup
*A.J. Styles & Rhino & Christian Cage vs. Kurt Angle & Team 3-D - Fans pick the stip but it's clear they want people to choose a tables, ladders and chairs match which for trademark reasons is being called a Full Metal Mayhem match
*Samoa Joe vs. Booker T for the TNA title
Actually, on paper, this looks to be one of the better PPV shows. Joe vs. Booker will be interesting because the company does expect Booker to get cheered since the show is in Houston. Joe is a half-ass heel on television anyway. The keys are if the fans as lumberjacks don't detract from the tag match, if the Cibernetico goes smooth, if the TLC comes off indie or professional and where or not Volador Jr. and Doi can in few hours figure out how to work Ultimate X matches without taking the match down.
B.G. James will be making his debut as an interviewer.
"Brooke Knows Best" debuts tonight on VH-1. Actually it debuted already. The first show has Hulk all over it as Brooke moves into her new place. Seems like more of a set-up show. Kind of boring really except if you're into Hulk being scripted like a dorky parent. He should have invoked his creative control card a lot more here.
Raw is live from Raleigh on Monday night and Smackdown has a Monday night house show in Asheville. Smackdown & ECW are being taped on Tuesday night in Charlotte.
A note for both print and on-line, that what is traditionally the biggest issue of the Observer each year, the 2008 Hall of Fame issue, which comes out in late August, will be part of the package for all new subscribers who sign up for 12 issues of the print edition or three months of the web site.

We also have WWE Judgment Day buy rate news, including how it did compared with last year's show.
We've got more notes from Raw and something Vince McMahon was upset at, crowd reactions off the air, update on how many people watch Raw and Smackdown live vs. on tape and how the shows are different in that regard. We have notes from a magazine in Mexico discussing a Wrestlemania in Mexico City. We look at wrestlers about to return, best selling DVDs, why some wrestlers in a state WWE was in are mad at commission double standards, the Florida Championship Wrestling debut, JBL business updates, what WWE star is listed in an ad as undergoing hair restoration surgery soon and business notes from the South and Central America shows this past week.
We also have the most detailed look at all the pro wrestling and MMA TV ratings, including segment-by-segment rundowns for Raw, Smackdown and Impact so you can see what angles are gaining viewers and what angles are losing viewers. We also have what could be potentially very bad news for Smackdown, as well as the ratings for Canada.
We also have our regular features such as results from the major league arena shows of the past week and major TV show reviews.

http://www.thenewstribune.com/512/story/411190.html about 80-year-old Stan Naccarato, who had been the boxing ring announcer in the city since 1947 and was fired by the local promotion. Local promoter Brian Halquist said he knows he's the bad guy here but they are doing MMA shows and Naccarato hates it. The story noted it as a generation gap that has polarized fight fans, with the teenage fans preferring MMA (they may prefer it but don't watch it in any great numbers) while purists in boxing hate it. "They put on two ounce gloves and exchange punches for a few seconds, then fall onto the mat while one guy tries to put a tangle hold on the other guy," said Naccarato. "There's no art to it. No strategy. Somebody's gonna get killed one of these days. It ought to be banned. The kids love it, though." Halquist noted drawing 7,500 fans to a Tacoma Dome show
