This is the final-ever Smackdown on the CW.
Although the only PPV this weekend is ROH's taped show from two months ago, the weekend is packed.
Today the Raw crew is in Barcelona, Spain, and the Smackdown crew is in Innsrbuck, Austria. EliteXC runs in Santa Ynez (more later) and airs live on Showtime at 11:00 PM EST.
Saturday has the Raw crew in Paris, France (which is sold out, and Paris has at least been mentioned here and there as a possible future site of WrestleMania, although with the time difference I don't know if I'd count on it having much of a chance of happening), Smackdown is in Munich, Germany, and TNA runs a house show in Miami.
Sunday has TNA in Lakeland, FL, and Sengoku in Tokyo, Japan.
Monday has Raw in Minneapolis, MN.
Tuesday has Smackdown and ECW being taped in Green Bay, and TNA Impact taping in Orlando with the first live appearance and promo of Mick Foley.

A story with comments by myself and three ex-WWE writers on the state of the company as well as the writers discussing the problems on the writing side is one of two huge features in two issues of the Observer coming out next week. Our second major feature Steve "Dr. Lucha" Sims' feature on the 75-year history of pro wrestling in Mexico. We look back to the real birth of pro wrestling in that country and how Mexican wrestling history has also been rewritten by the winners. We look at how the original birth of Mexican wrestling has ties to the birth of Gracie Jiu Jitsu because of a common thread at the start.
We look at the match between two of the most famous world champions of the era that took place in Mexico City before pro wrestling was supposedly ever even born in that country.
We look at Salvador Lutteroth, the original great promoter in that country and the beginnings of EMLL, and what lucky break was probably the difference between success and failure. We look at the first well-known promotional war in Mexico City, the first anniversary show and the introduction of what would be the trademark of Lucha Libre, the power of the mask.
We look at the rise of El Santo, the story of how and why commissions got so much power in that country and the original creation of champions. We look at the history of wrestling on television in Mexico and how it differs from the U.S.
We look at the second major promotional war and its ramifications, including the most famous match in Lucha Libre history and what major things came out of that, including the creation of the current Arena Mexico.
We look at the success of El Santo in the movies, as well as other Mexican wrestling stars who became movie stars, as well a the creation of the UWA and rise of Paco Alonso.
We also look at UWA's heyday and how it changed pro wrestling in Mexico as well as the lightweight title match that shocked the business. We look at the second TV created boom period, and the death that likely changed history and the balance of power. We also look at the rise of Antonio Pena, and how he changed the industry. We look at the heyday of AAA, and what caused the boom to end. We also look at the creation of the current boom period.
We also look at the economic situation of Elite XC and the ramifications of the next show in regard to the potential sale.

-- WEC officially announced today that starting in 2009 they will only be promoting matches in the 135, 145, 155 and 170 pound weight classes, so 185 and 205 are history. As has been discussed for some time, those guys will be absorbed into UFC. Brian Stann vs. Steve Cantwell has already been signed for the Fort Bragg UFC Tribute to the Troops special in December. Stann is like a living GI Joe figure, though he looked pretty green as a fighter in his last outing.
-- Miguel Torres vs. Manny Tapia will be taking place Wednesday, December 3rd from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for the WEC Bantamweight title.
-- TNA announced that Jeff Jarrett was upset over comments that Kurt Angle had made in the UK Sun last week and would be addressing it on Impact. Yes, on Impact. Angle said things like there were too many multi-person and stipulation matches, that King of the Mountain was absurdly complicated, and that it was stupid to have convoluted finishes to "protect the losers". That should be a fun interview.
-- Jeff Hardy needed six stitches after a Barcelona match with Vladimir Koslov.

Slice said Thompson was a tough guy who fought in Pancrase in Japan (maybe meaning Pride) Tony then asked generic questions about his look. Kimbo said his look was new a different (but I think he looks like Mean Joe Greene)Slice was bleeped a couple of times and came off as a badass, in a good way.
