AAA Verano de Escandalo part one TV report
AAA Verano de Escandalo (Part 1)
By: Xavier Hernandez
Show aired on: 10/11/2008
The announcers welcome us to the show from Guadalajara, and this is the first supercard since TripleMania. They have another nice stage for the supercard, just like WWE does for their PPVs. Video Package that hypes every match taking place during this show. This part will be the championship part, since four titles are on the line, including the most important title in the company: the AAA Heavyweight title.
*In-Ring Segment: After the fireworks (another WWE idea), Konnan arrives to the ring to complain. He says he's back to Red-Neck land, and people should be ashamed of carrying Mexican flags, since they only won three medals in the Olympics (ouch!). Konnan tells Roldan that he didn't book him again, and it was a waste, because Konnan is money guarranted. Konnan says Antonio Pena was great, not like Roldan. Konnan, Pena and Octagon made AAA, which the company that others disrespect. When he was in AAA, there were great guys in the company like Perro Aguayo Sr., Cien Caras, Blue Panther, Love Machine, Eddie Guerrero, among others. Nobody danced nor acted like a clown during that time. Konnan says there's no stars in AAA, only dancers and clowns. Konnan also claims he didn't steal Roldan's car. Joaquin Roldan arrives, to tell Konnan he didn't book him, because he didn't feel like it. Roldan tells Konnan that he always makes fun of his wrestlers, and shows Konnan a video from nay years ago. Roldan shows a video of Konnan dancing and rapping (double ouch!). The crowd wants Konnan to dance, and Konnan says that was outside the ring, and not inside. Roldan claims any dancer can tear Konnan apart. Konnan tries to attack Roldan, but he's kicked out by the bodyguards. Roldan thanks the crowd and leaves. (Very long segments, but Konnan made some good points).

The Apaches start the comeback, but the Morenos hit Frankensteiners on both Apaches. Apache tries a Powerbomb, but Cinthia counters into La Rueca, and Mari makes the save. Diabolica hits Mari with a chair, and Fabi goes after her. Both teams apply many double team maneuvers on each other. Cinthia hits a Diving Crossbody on Mari to the outside. The referee is distracted again, and Histeria joins in to help Abismo. Chessman complains, and Abismo attacks him. The tecnicos return to clean house with the heels. The Hermandad also uses the ladder to hit Halloween's ribs and face. Tiger is tossed into a ladder by the Hermandad. Hart is set on the barricade, and Tiger hits Air Tijuana to take out the american. The MPs try to climb again, but Lider stops them again. Lider sets a ladder across Crazy's ribs, and hits a dropkick on him. A ladder is placed between the apron and the barricade, to form a bridge. The Hermandad slams Halloween in the bridge, breaking the ladder. Tiger comes out of nowhere with a clean Hilo on Lider. Another bridge is made, and both Gladiador and Lider collapse in it. Nicho lands on a table, and Tiger hits a 450 Splash on Nicho, through the table. Crazy climbs the ladder, but Halloween spears him in mid-air. Winners and NEW Tag Team Champions: Joe Lider & Nicho El Millonario
-Aftermath: The Hermandad say it was justa matter of time before the belts landed with the true and original hardcore/extreme wrestlers. 187!
4) AAA World Heavyweight Championship
Cibernetico (c) vs. Chessman
-First Fall: Both men open with basic submission holds. Ciber suplexes Chessman, for a two count. Chessman begins to pucnh Cibernetico's forehead. Chessman brings a table, and sets it in one of the ring corners. Chessman sets another table, but at ringside. Chessman continues to deliver hard punches all over Ciber's body. Ciber makes the comeback with hard strikes and a Stunner. Ciber tries another Stunner, but Chessman counters and spears Ciber through the cornered table. Chessman covers, but Ciber kicks out. Ciber starts another comeback, but Chessman targets the knee of Ciber. Chessman tries to suplex Ciber through a second table, but Ciber blocks. Ciber jumps off the top and hits another Stunner on Chessman, which makes him land on the outside table. Chessman returns before the count of the referee. Chessman delivers another Superkick, and starts punching Ciber. Mesias arrives to distract Chessman, and Ciber capitalizes on the distraction to hit the CiberChokeslam on Chessman. Three count, and it's over.
Winner and STILL AAA Heavyweight champion: Cibernetico
-Aftermath: Mesias gets in the ring, and simply stares at Cibernetico. Mesias takes the title away from Ciber to look at it, and gives it back at Ciber.
FINAL COMMNETS: Overall, a good show. Not great, but it was somewhat entertaining. The mixed match was a decent opener, but the match that stole the show was the Minis match. It was just phenomenal, and hopefully AAA continues to book these kinf od matches. The ladder match was OK, because we had the usal teams, doing the same botched spots,a dn there's nothing else to it. The Harts should be champions, and not the Hermandad, but that's my opinion. The main event was also OK, and Mesias' intervention adds more to the feud.
What really bothered me was the announcers. They basically put AAA over big time for "delivering dynamic, unique and entertainig matches". They also said that "other companies are boring, and they try to copy AAA". They did this throughout the entire show. Well as a lucha fan, I believe that AAA is not a Lucha Libre company, but a wrestling company. Just look at the segment of Konnan, I felt like I was watching Monday Night RAW but in spanish. That's why I always support the traditional style of lucha, which can only be seen in one company (CMLL). It's just my opinion, and everyone may have different views.
Next week, it's part two of VdE, which will include Mesias and Vampiro inside a Steel Cage, and the return of another wrestler.
