Reader Feedback: If the Mayan apocalypse was real, what would be the last wrestling match you'd watch?

Rock vs. Austin

By Josh Nason

If you watched any of the news in traditional or social format this week, you probably saw something about the dreaded "Mayan apocalypse", a claim that the world was going to end Friday due to a date on the Mayan calendar.

Well, we're still standing, but I took to the Wrestling Observer Twitter account to ask our 6000+ followers what would be the last match they'd watch if everything was indeed coming to an end. You'll notice some familiar names and matches in the responses.

Thanks to all who participated and look for more of these features throughout 2013!

@JamieSessions
Watched the dragon gate six man, ROH vs. CZW cage of death, and Nigel McGuiness vs. Bryan Danielson form ROH's killer 06 run.

@Vom_Kriege
Punk vs. Bryan, Ironman match, for every belt in the company. Special guest referee - Samoa Joe

@Lordstrom
A Kobashi match no doubt.

@Timder
Misawa vs Kawada with Misawa hitting the Tiger Driver 91 just as the world explodes.

@CommanderClark8
Rock vs. Austin, WrestleMania X-Seven

@areacode212
that exploding coffin match from the Wrestling Society X premiere would be pretty awesome to watch as the world blows up around you

@ktsthegame
my last #wrestling march would be Austin vs Rock WM 17

@Neil_McNerlan
Bret Hart vs Steve Austin - Wrestlemania 13

@KevinManOnFire
Melina vs Alicia Fox

@Answertheten
Bret vs. Austin WM 13

@MichaelBrown_91
Garrett Bischoff v Wes Brisco, purely to remind me that the apocalypse isn't so bad..or just look at the impact taping results and be grateful that it will n ever come to pass on TV.

@RolandoDCantuJRr
Hogan vs Savage WM 5, or Bret/Owen Summerslam

@memphomofo
rockers/rougeaus iron man match from Capitol Centre in DC that I saw as a kid that I can't find a tape of.

@meyersMMA35
That's a tough one but I always loved Benoit/Jericho from the Super J Cup.

@Carlos_Herrera_
@UltimateWarrior v @HulkHogan @WrestleMania..childhood memories.

@Herbalicious32
Ric Flair vs. Rick Steamboat (May 7, 1989)

@PhilAustin
I'd pick one of those five hour broadways from the 1900s. Let's put off the end of the world as much as possible. Either that or Midnight Express v the Southern Boys from the 1990 Bash.

@BurritoBelly
Misawa v. Kawada. Any of their matches.

@Hippousmc
Torn between rock vs Austin at mania (both matches) or HHH vs taker hell in cell with HBK.. HBK facials and reactions... Priceless!

@JohnnyWhyte93
Shawn Michaels v The Undertaker WM25

@Newky_Brown
Punk v Hardy

@Trademark629
Misawa/Kawada June 94. There is no other answer.

@JillyBeanJab
Flair vs. Punk

@JakeyIn612
Trish Stratus vs. Lita 12/4/04

@HairyChap
give me any Angle Shawn match. Or alternatively a match than lasts hmm 45 years or so.

@Shk66
Just watched Benoit-Angle from RR '03. I'd be content if that was it.

@Hamlin37
Flair-Steamboat in Chicago
