We're looking for reports on tonight's WWE tri-branded house show in Ottawa, ONT, as well as the TNA house show in Dalton, GA (Kurt Angle & Booker T & Scott Steiner vs. A.J. Styles & Beer Money, Samoa Joe vs. Daniels), and last night's TNA house show in Augusta, GA at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Tomorrow is the Breaking Point PPV from Montreal and we'll have some notes on it below.  There is also the final night of the TNA Georgia house show run with Kurt Angle vs. A.J. Styles for the TNA title in Styles' home town of Gainesville, GA.

An all-day marathon of season two of The Ultimate Fighter, which was won by Rashad Evans and Joe Stevenson, and had Rich Franklin and Matt Hughes as coaches, is airing through 11:30 p.m. tonight on Spike, including the final show, which was a great live event.

It's our Hall of Fame month, as we've got a Hall of Fame preview this week running down many of the candidates in this year's election in Monday's issue of the Observer.  We will run down the remaining candidates next week, and the following week will be our traditional biggest issue of the year, the regular Hall of Fame issue.

All subscriptions to the newsletter and web site for more will include what is traditionally our most talked about and best selling issue of the year, the 2009 Hall of Fame issue, which is now just a few weeks away.

The issue is available today on the web site for premium members as is a back issue from 1992, put up this week for premium members on the site.

The issue looks at  Gene & Ole Anderson, The Assassins,Atlantis, Red Bastien, Carlos Colon, Big Daddy, Edge, George Gordienko, Ultimo Guerrero & Rey Bucanero, Gran Hamada, Volk Han, Owen Hart, Curt Hennig, Chris Jericho, Rocky Johnson, Ivan Koloff, Konnan, Karloff Lagarde, Mark Lewin, Jose Lothario, Midnight Express, Mick McManus, Bill Miller, Fabulous Moolah, Pedro Morales, Dick Murdoch, Rey Mysterio, Kendo Nagasaki, Jackie Pallo, Blue Panther, Rollerball Rocco, Rock & Roll Express, Rick Rude, Sabu and Masa Saito, including previous finishes and strengths and weaknesses as candidates.

We also have notes on changes in PPV plans in WWE, with both the positives and a major negative regarding themed shows.  We also look at the Undertaker-C.M. Punk program and the mentality behind the changes.

We've got notes on the Khali/Big Show backstage skirmish in Puerto Rico.  We have notes on a change regarding drug testing penalties, thoughts on Batista, update on Umaga, company's last ditch effort to keep Jeff Hardy from leaving, Jerry Lawler as mayor and Lilian Garcia's departure, as well as an update on the best selling DVDs this year with updated numbers, as well as an update on WWE.com traffic and orders.

We also have notes on the Mitsuharu Misawa Memorial shows planned for 9/27 at Budokan Hall and 10/3 in Osaka, including what is planned, and why this is in many ways the end of an era, including the dream match-up of pro wrestling legends for the first and probably last time, as well as the reuniting of one of the best tag teams in history after nearly a decade apart.  There is also talk of a onetime only tag team of legends and we look at the interest level in the events.

We also look at the details behind the firing of Angelina Love, as well as internal TNA thoughts regarding the idea of monthly PPV shows.

We also have a feature on Nigel McGuinness and WWE, as well as how this affects ROH going forward.  We look at McGuinness' final scheduled matches.  We look at the style differences McGuinness and Danielson will be facing as well as what they'll need for success in WWE.  We look at the status of other ROH stars as well as what this means to the ROH fan base.

We also look at the Dragon Gate USA experiment, looking at both the PPV show and the taping of the second show in Chicago.  We look at the issues that face the company going forward, as well as dates to remember and reactions to the Chicago event.

We also have a feature on someone who only had three pro wrestling matches in his career, but all three were main events against legends, one set the all-time record for the largest pro wrestling gate of its time (and it wasn't that long ago), the second was a major show and the third was the biggest pro wrestling event ever held in his home country.  We look at the unique circumstances of the man's career and his background before pro wrestling that led him to gaining one of the most conclusive wins in history over a wrestling legend who did very few jobs during his career.

We also have notes on the death of career of Joe Novo, who wrestled as Joe Nova and Butcher Brannigan around the world.  We look at his career and life after wrestling.

We also have an update on the WWE PPV business, with some good news.  We look at reasons why the first show with a marked increase from last year took place, and what that means when it comes to themed events.

We also have our usual look at the ratings of all the national TV shows over the past week, including notes on one show doing its best numbers in months and another doing its worst numbers in a year, as well as the plight of week two of season two of Bully Beatdown.

We also have our usual weekly features such as the results from the major league events held around the world over the past week, and rundown of the major television shows.

--Jeff Hardy has, probably wisely, not made any new statements regarding his arrest yesterday.  There are a lot of key questions, such as why he would not have been able to produce a prescription for the drugs found given that celebrities can usually have pretty easy access to doctors prescribing them most of the stuff found.  Obviously, the cocaine residue is problematic.  The steroid volume seems significant but it wasn't stated what steroid was found.  WWE hasn't made any statements at all about this, and I seriously doubt you'll be seeing C.M. Punk or the announcers reference it on the PPV tomorrow night.  Another interesting point is that even though Hardy was probably the company's most popular wrestler when he left, aside from TMZ, this story hasn't broken past the wrestling media.  In conjunction with the Rey Mysterio suspension, at another time, this could have been lumped together and whether this is a good or bad sign, it shows the only interest in wrestling mainstream right now is brief clips to laugh at on sports shows or entertainment shows of the celebrities appearing on Raw.  As far as Hardy's future, unless he is cleared of the major charges, this will put a major damper on getting a reality show, particularly with a major network as he was hoping.  As far as a return to WWE, I don't see it happening unless he is cleared, and even then, the microscope will really be on whether he comes back with zero strikes or two strikes.

--The local Fayetteville Observer coverage of the Hardy story is at http://www.fayobserver.com/Articles/2009/09/12/933051  The only thing new is it quote Deputy Neil Godfry of the Moore County Sheriff's Office, saying that the raid of the home came because the Fayetteville Police Department received a tip a few days ago.

--Regarding the addition of the Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz, obviously a late decision due to the fact neither even appeared on Raw this past week, the elimination of Dolph Ziggler vs. John Morrison was finish related, in that they couldn't come up with one.  We were told Morrison vs. Ziggler will instead take place on the Hell in a Cell PPV in three weeks, but that could change five times between now and that show.  This may be related to Undertaker vs. C.M. Punk in the sense that they'll do one major screw-job finish on a show, but I don't think they'd want to do two.  Undertaker was originally beating Punk and winning the title, but there seems to be almost universal sentiment that the timing is all wrong for that move.  Punk beating Undertaker with the Anaconda Vise without tons of interference or gimmick involvement is likely not even under consideration.

--So here is the new lineup:

*Punk vs. Undertaker for the world title - I think it's widely believed Punk should retain in a controversial fashion to set up a Hell in a Cell rematch in three weeks.  But as noted, given that the original finish of this match was simply Undertaker winning the title, it could happen.

*Randy Orton vs. John Cena for WWE title - All signs point to a  Cena title win here, since Cena has been pinned on two straight PPV shows and was left laying on the final episode of Raw.  Plus, if Undertaker doesn't win, you're talking two major screw job finishes and it's hard to pull that off in an I Quit match.

*DX vs. Legacy with submissions counting anywhere in the Bell Centre.  Obviously a long match that will probably end up in a concession stand or a women's bathroom.  It really would be good for Legacy to go over, but with the submission finish, that makes it more difficult.

*Christian vs. William Regal for the ECW title - Finish doesn't really matter given how low priority the title is.  That said, Regal as champion leading his stable, if the stable is being kept in tact, has a good dynamic.  In my opinion, timing is right for the title change here.

*Chris Jericho & Big Show vs. MVP & Mark Henry for the tag titles - Would be a mistake to take the titles from Jericho & Show right now, particularly because being champs allows Jericho to be featured on both Raw and Smackdown.  I'm not sure how putting Mark Henry & MVP on Smackdown every week benefits that show.

*Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz for U.S. title - The belt means nothing and Kingston has had a string of wins.  If I was making the call, I'd go with Miz here

*Great Khali vs. Kane in a kendo stick match.  Hopefully kept short.  Kane won last month and there was no need to bring it back.  Even Steven booking for $100 indicates Khali getting his hand raised.

--Bas Rutten and Ron Kruck will be commentators on tonight Shark Fight Internet PPV at http://www.sharkfight.com for $5.95 from the Amarillo Civic Center headlined by Don Frye vs. Dave "Pee Wee" Herman and Nissen Osterneck vs. Gerald Harris.

--GLAAD isn't happy with Bob Arum after his interview with Ariel Helwani earlier in the week.  I have to say Ariel was freaking hilarious in his deadpan response to Arum at http://glaadblog.org/2009/09/11/boxing-promoter-bob-arum-makes-anti-gay-comments/  They want Arum to make a swift and sincere apology for his remark that the sport of MMA is "guys rolling around like homosexuals on the ground."

--Lance Storm talks Jeff Hardy at http://www.stormwrestling.com/091109.html

--Matt Hardy on Twitter said, "It's been a long, stressful day for me..But everything will be ok..Guaranteed.  Like Public Enemy said, "Don't Believe The Hype."

--Chris Jericho wrote:  "Don't think of judging Jeff Hardy until you've walked a mile in his shoes.  I will always have Jeffs back."

--In a strange decision, Jeff Hardy was the featured WWE Alumni on the main page earlier today at WWE.com (thanks to John Joyce)

--The Jeff Hardy arrest as of this afternoon was the No. 69 most searched for thing on Google, down from a peak of No. 6 yesterday

--Regarding the low ratings for Impact this week, I don't think that was any surprise.  They knew they were going to take a hit from football and the Steelers-Titans game had 20.9 million viewers, making it the most watched sports event since the Super Bowl.  For a comparison, the NCAA championship had 17.6 million, Kentucky Derby had 16.1 million, highest rated NBA playoff final game was 16 million, Daytona 500 was 16 million and the baseball All-Star game was 14.6 million.  Last year's NFL season opener had 13.5 million viewers.

--C.M. Punk talks the movie "The Wrestler" at http://www.thespec.com/Sports/article/633399 and also talks wrestling Undertaker
