Hi... I'm back to be your interim AAA recap guy while Dave and Bryan continue the search for someone who wants to handle this on a full time basis... But before I get to the recap, I just wanted to give a few plugs out to people who deserve them and to a cause that really deserves it... First off, I think everyone who has any interest in lucha libre, should head over to the site of “The Cubs fan”. I can't begin to understand the frustration he must feel with baseball (well, at least Milton Bradley is on the shelf), but he is an ocean of lucha knowledge and news. I'm more like a small puddle. His website can be found at: www.thecubsfan.com/cmll/ (or obviously by clicking that link). I can't say how much i've learned about lucha from this site, as well as the input of Rob, who is a regular on his site... Second is wrestlers rescue website. As a former worker, way down there on the bottom of the pimple on the ... well, you get the idea... its just refreshing to see someone give back to the business in that way. I think this is a great cause for those who put it on on the line and everyone should check out their website at: www.wrestlersrescue.org For those willing to offer feedback, feel free to shoot me an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or checking out my website at www.scottdecker.com... Its a place with no real focus and a place to learn more about me if you are really that bored... I can't say I will ever get to reply, but who knows... its part of the mystery of life... Now... off to episode one of AAA's Verano de Escandalo 2009.... Live date: August 21, 2009 US air date: September 19, 2009 Location: Cuidad, Mexico 1. The Psycho Circus (Killer Murder Clown, Psycho Clown, and Zombie Monster Clown) vs. The Yakuza (Kenzo Suzuki, Oriental, and Sugi) Referee: Pepe Casas Captains: Psycho Clown and Kenzo Suzuki Not sure if Murder and Monster Clowns are the replacements of Killer and Zombie, or if its just a name change. The masks were identical. One thing is for sure. If these were replacement clowns, they were not any better than than the originals... Match starts off with a rudo beatdown. Yakuza on Psycho Circus to be more specific. Oriental with an Asai moonsault on Psycho and Murder Clown, then they are taped to the ropes, allowing the Yakuza to triple up on Monster Clown for awhile. Oriental fouls Monster with a dropkick to the crotch while he sits in the corner. Sugi with a nice running shooting star press. If Oriental leaving AAA ends the Yakuza, I hope they still find a nice spot for Sugi. Once the other clowns escape, the triple up on Kenzo Suzuki, then Sugi. Monster fouls Sugi with a headbutt off the top to the crotch. Clowns go for their triple splash on Sugi, but Kenzo breaks it up. Sugi and Oriental go for planchas on Murder and Psycho, but get caught and posted. Back in the ring Kenzo with a weak chokeslam on Monster Clown. Triple team on Kenzo ending when Murder Clown splashing him while he's held on the ropes for the pin... Winners: The Psycho Circus The Alex Koslov-Rocky Romero break up and feud is covered in the pre-match video... 2. AAA Cruiserweight Title: Extreme Tiger (champion) vs. Alex Koslov vs. Rocky Romero vs. Teddy Hart vs. Jack Evans Referee: El Hijo del Tirantes Pretty much breaks down to Alex Koslov vs. Rocky Romero and Teddy Hart vs. Jack Evans. Hart and Evans brawl on the floor while Koslov and Romero go at it in the ring. The Koslov-Romero stuff has pretty much been the highlight of the recent AAA shows. Hart comes back in with a back cracker on Romero. Evans comes back in and we're back to Hart-Evans again. Evans goes for a standing moonsault but Hart gets his knees up, then follows up with a powerbomb. With Hart on the floor, Evans does a tope into a huracanrana on the floor that sends Hart into the commentary table. Nice save by a fan for saving that monitor. Extreme Tiger and Alex Koslov in the ring and Koslov does his spot where he puts on his hat and dance/kicks Tiger. Koslov goes to the floor, Tiger hits a sliding dropkick to the floor. Tiger poses back in the ring and is caught with a spinning leg lariat off the top rope by Jack Evans. Teddy Hart goes for what looks like a superplex on Evans, but Jack falls out. Koslov pickes up Tiger like he's going for a powerbomb, but Tiger is caught by Hart coming off the top rope, finishing with a back cracker in a nice spot. Hart and Koslov double team Romero a bit, then Hart hits Evans with a piledriver on the ring apron. While Evans is carried out, Hart follows them up the ramp and flips the stretcher over. Hart hits a Canadian Destroyer on the stage, then heads back to the ring where he and Koslov double up on Rocky Romero again. Rocky comes back with a DDT on Hart and a series of clothelines on Alex Koslov. With Koslov on the apron, Tiger hits another baseball slide dropkick. Tiger goes for a dropkick on Hart but is fouled. Hart hits another back cracker and pins Tiger to eliminate him. Hart hits a blockbuster on Romero and follows up with a perfect shooting star press. Rocky comes back and pins Hart after a stomach breaker. Koslov with a superkick on Romero and makes him tap to the crippler crossface to eliminate him. With Koslov tied in the ropes, Tiger hits a dropkick for two, then a rocker dropper for two. Tiger goes for a split legged moonsault, but Koslov get his knees up and get a two count with his feet on the ropes. Hart comes back and distracts Hijo del Tirantes while Koslov fouls Tiger to win the match... Winner: Alex Koslov 3. Wagnermaina (Silver King, Electroshock, and Ultimo Gladiador) vs. La Parka II, Marco Corleone, and Octagon Referee: Piero Captains: Silver King and La Parka II La Parka II's arm is still pretty much dead weight. Ultimo Gladiador is announced as the newest member of Wagnermaina and is now wearing a mask... Rudos get the early jump. Silver King and Parka II take it to the floor, followed by Corleone and Electroshock. Triple team on Marco with the series ending in a Gladiador leg drop off the top. Triple team on Parka II doesn't get off the ground as Parka II backdrops Gladiador to the floor, hits a huracanrana on Silver King, and a spinning backbreaker on Electroshock. Parka II lifts up Gladiador and Corleone hits him with a VERY high dropkick. Octagon hits a tope on Gladiador, followed by Corleone hitting one on Electroshock. Parka II goes for a german suplex on Silver King when King shoves Piero, fouls Parka II, pulls off his mask and pins him. Unless this was edited, finish seemed to come out of no where in a quick match... Winners: Wagnermania Recap is shown of the recent events in the Billy Boy-Fabi Apache feud. They could dedicate a 3 hour show to just quick highlights of the entire feud... One thing is for sure, this feud will still be going strong long after i've moved on from the AAA recaps... 4. Hair vs. Mask cage match: Aerostar & Fabi Apache vs. Billy Boy & Sexy Star Referee: Pepe Casas Esther Moreno is shown here at ringside, then shown several times during the match. Normally an angle red flag, but in this case, it really didn't amount to much... Starts off pretty much as Billy Boy vs. Aerostar and Fabi vs. Sexy Star, less a few rudo doubleteams. Bill tears up Aerostar's mask, then hits a powerbomb on Fabi. Billy then climbs out and escapes the cage. He goes over and says a few things to Esther Moreno, then climbs back into the cage. Fabi hits Star with a chair, but Billy dropkicks the chair into Fabi's face before she can use it on him. Sexy Star and Billy with chairshots on Aero to juice him. Star attempts to escape, but is stopped by Fabi. Fabi tries to escape but is stopped by Billy Boy. Billy helps Star up, then ducks an oncoming chairshot from Aerostar, who hits Star instead. Fabi with a chairshot on Star as well. Aerostar holds Billy for Fabi, but he moved and Fabi hits a dropkick off the top onto Aerostar. Sexy Star escapes. Aerostar with a high cross body off the top rope onto Billy, then as Billy recovers, runs across the ring and uses Billy's back as a springboard to escape. Billy destroys Fabi but can't escape the cage. Fabi comes back on Billy with chairshots and Billy juices while Aerostar and Sexy Star brawl on the floor. Fabi tries to escape, but Billy throws a chair at her back. Billy powerbombs Fabi on the chairs. Billy goes to escape, but Aerostar prevents him fro escaping. Fabi takes out Billy with multiple chairshots and escapes the cage... Loser: Billy Boy Post match sees Tirantes come out and call out Roland. Roland comes out and after exchanging a few words everyones worst nightmares come true as “Eye of the Tiger” starts playing. Well, second worst nightmare. I guess the worst nightmare would be a 70 year old Hulk Hogan coming to the ring. I hope when that times comes, he gets an electric wheelchair because I don't know if I would trust Nick's driving in that case. Out comes Konnan and Teddy Hart, who then get in the cage. A spot in the Legion is offered to Fabi Apache, who decided to stick with AAA and the Legion jump her, Aerostar, and Esther Moreno who very quietly tried to make the save. After the Konnan celebration, Billy Boy was preparing for yet another haircut as we go off the air... Next week's show should be the second half with: - Nicho and Joe Lider vs. Elegido and Gronda II in a hardcore match with the return of Gronda I (damn did I pick a hell of a time to return to these recaps) - Charly Manson vs. Chessman in a street fight - Dr. Wagner Jr. defends the AAA Title against Cibernetico and “Mesias” Ricky Bandaras |
