This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it The only stuff on TV tonight is two hours of Unleashed as a lead-in to the 10 p.m. airing of episode two of the Ultimate Fighter. The first hour at 8 p.m. features the famous Stephan Bonnar vs. Forrest Griffin match, one of the great matches in UFC history, plus Diego Sanchez vs. Kenny Florian. The 9 p.m. show features Matt Hughes vs. Matt Serra and Dan Henderson vs. Michael Bisping in two major grudge matches created on the reality show. The preview of tonight's episode says, "Rampage scrambles to teach Kimbo new skills, while Team Rashad's Roy Nelson is deemed uncoachable. Team Rampage picks the next match-up, pitting size against skills." The 2009 Hall of Fame issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, one of the largest issues in our history and what is traditionally the best selling issue of the year, will be out Monday to print readers and is available right now on the web site. The main focus of the double issue is a look at the six new members of the Hall of Fame as voted by reporters, historians, and people both in the current business and people with long histories of being in the business. Because of the size of the bios, we only have bios of three of the six new acts in this week's issue, and there will be bios in upcoming weeks of the other three new members which span periods from the 1930s through modern times. We look at what the Hall of Fame is, how people get in, a complete rundown not only of the final voting but also the top ten in each different category and an explanation as to how each guy got voted in, as well as a detailed look at why others who came close didn't reach the magic 60% mark. We also have notes on people who will not be on next year's ballots, as well as who will be added to next year's ballot. We look at the close calls, including three top active stars who almost made it and what kept them from getting in. We look at who made the biggest strides as well as the biggest drops, as well as look at the first year on for Edge. We evaluate all the new members and talk about those on next year's ballot for the first time. The highlight is our lengthy bios which talk about three very different and distinct eras in wrestling and some very unique individuals that made it in. We also have the updated list of everyone in and the year they were put in, divided into several different categories. We also look at Saturday night's UFC 103, the head-to-head battle with boxing and different numbers that are out there. We look at the business of the show, what came out of the show, and full coverage of the event. We also have an update on the first week of Linda McMahon's run for the U.S. Senate. We look at her strategy in running, as well as in the first week what stories have come out regarding pro wrestling and her candidacy. We look at financing her campaign, as well as a political strategist evaluates her chances. We also look at the retirement of Quinton Jackson, the ratings of the first episode of Ultimate Fighter and how they rank among other big shows in the history of the show. We look at Jackson's complete statement, an update on other fighters who have said similar things and what has happened, and perhaps a reason why these things happen. We look at how the show fared in Males 18-34 this past week, as well as how the Fight Night show did, and a look at how season 10 is stacking up. We also look at the return of MMA to CBS with the Fedor vs. Brett Rogers Strikeforce match, as well as a look at the signing of Herschel Walker to an MMA deal, his expected debut, and more on plans for the CBS show. We've got the most detailed look at what is going down politically in TNA, including the departures of Jim Cornette and B.G. James, the hiring of Ed Ferrara, and how everything is intertwined, including reactions from many in the company. We also look at Batista's move to Smackdown and the move being rushed, the return from suspension of Rey Mysterio, one of the biggest stars in company history in talks, feelings on the booking of three Hell in a Cell matches on one show, Hardys update, Lilian Garcia's future, Jim Ross pushes for someone who is a surprise to get into the WWE Hall of Fame, Miami bidding for Wrestlemania, notes on the 10th anniversary Smackdown show, Injury updates, Jericho talks his character, Pat Patterson's 50th anniversary of being in the business, a new signee as well as details on the WWE weekend shows. We've got a rundown of TNA's No Surrender show, including why it doesn't look like it will do well on PPV. We look at the wrestling, the booking, and match-by-match coverage with star ratings. We also have a look at CMLL's biggest event of the year, the 76th anniversary event at Arena Mexico with the Mistico putting his mask up against the hair of Negro Casas main event. We also have tons of updates on Hulk Hogan's promotion and Hogan promoting the events. We also have a look at the ratings for all the major pro wrestling shows on television over the past week, including the Batista return to Smackdown and Cedric the Entertainer on Raw battling against Monday Night Football. We also have our usual weekly features such as the results of the biggest matches of the week and rundown of the major television shows. --Jushin Liger in Mexico including his first singles match with Mistico and what it is building to --A somewhat major star jumping promotions --A major star who announces he is leaving just days before he was supposed to be in a big show major stipulation match --GHC tag team title change --Former WWE star disappears --Update on TNA's Bound for Glory show --Update on members of the TNA creative team --Tons of news from the next few weeks of TNA television tapings --Randy Couture's contract --Chuck Liddell on Dancing with the Stars --Anderson Silva's elbow injury --Several new UFC matches New subscribers ordering 24 or 40 issues have to let us know what major story (ies) of the past 11 years you are most interested in and we'll send the issue with the best coverage of that story. We've got coverage of every major PPV event and world wide spectacular, every major star switching promotions, histories of companies like FMW, Rings and New Japan, retirement and obit issues of every major star who fits into those descriptions over the past 11 years, as well as our biggest issue every year, the annual awards issue, and our most controversial issue of every year, the Hall of Fame issue. Our most requested issues in our history are: --Rey Mysterio returns at the Hell in a Cell PPV, teaming with Batista to face Chris Jericho & Big Show for the tag titles --The main event for the Smackdown 10th anniversary special that will be taped on Tuesday night in Boston is DX & John Cena & Undertaker vs. C.M. Punk & Randy Orton & Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase. This match had been advertised in the local market for weeks. There will be characters from the past brought back and they are treating it like a major event. --ECW did a 1.2 rating last night --Dennis Miller, on his radio show today, said he is probably guest hosting Raw in December. (thanks to Tim Hacht) --Kimbo vs. Roy Nelson is expected to be the fight on the 9/30 TUF show, and if not, the Wednesday after. I guess that tells you the match-ups aren't planned because if you were planning, that was the exact last guy you'd want Kimbo to face first. --Mike Quackenbush has been added to the Open the FreedomeGate tournament with Cima and Davey Richards on 11/28 in Philadelphia. The front row, all priced at $75, sold out today. --More names for the Hulkamania tour are Heidenreich, King V (Nelson Frazier), Shannon Moore, Stephanie Pietz (a model) and Koa Marie Gabric (who recently worked for AAA). The promotion's web site lists Mr. Kennedy's name as Mr. Ken Anderson. Paul London's name is not advertised but his name has come up. --Hulk Hogan was on Bubba the Love Sponge today and claimed the recording of him threatening to have the Hell's Angels beat up Chase Holfelder, the lead singer of "The Miler After" was just a rib played on the guy and it wasn't to do with Brooke but with the daughter of a friend of his. --Dana White in a Los Angeles Times interview at http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2009/09/ said that after this season, Kimbo Slice will fight for UFC. It was well known Slice is fighting on the 12/5 show in Las Vegas. White said Rashad Evans ended up liking Slice and wanting him to train at Greg Jackson's camp, and Lorenzo Fertitta was quoted as saying, "We've been very impressed with Kimbo's performance." --White On Rampage last night on Carmichael Dave's radio show: "Rampage is a grown man. He's acting like a baby right now, but he's a grown man. If he wants to be in the movie business, Rampage, good luck to you, man. I hope he makes it big, and I'm not being sarcastic...I hope the movie thing works out for him. If that's what he truly wants to do, and that's what he feels and that's what he thinks his career is, I wish him all the luck in the world." White said he was blind sided by Jackson's post last night. "We really like Rampage. I'm not going to get into the battle of who's done what for who and all that stuff. We've done a lot for him and yes, he's been there and fought. The guys who come in here, they're fighters. That's what they do. We give them fights and they fight. And they make money and we make money. that's the way it works." White denied pressuring Jackson to fight Evans instead of Lyoto Machida. --In the U.K., the only shows from last week to crack the ratings for the week ending 9/13 were Impact at 46,000 viewers, the most watched of all the weekly wrestling shows, but Breaking Point did 106,000 viewers when airing live (thanks to Ian Hamilton) --In the weekly cable ratings, ESPN was No. 1 at a 3.4 prime time average to 2.5 for USA. Syfy was No. 12 at 1.0 and Spike was No. 15 at 0.9. For Spike, that's a really bad sign because last week's Impact did well, Ultimate Fighter did gigantic numbers and The Fight Night did well. Their other programming must not be doing well. Raw was No. 4 and No. 7 overall while Ultimate Fighter was No. 13 (2.93 rating). The second hour of Raw trailed the two NFL games on ESPN and NCIS (3.7). In 18-34, Ultimate Fighter was a distant third behind the two NFL games. The second hour of Raw was No. 9. In 18-49, Ultimate Fighter also No. 3 behind the two NFL games but Raw was No. 4 and No. 6, largely due to Raw doing so well with viewers over the age of 35. Spike was No. 6 in 18-34 viewers due to the UFC programming. --Jay Leno did a skit on Monday night talking about Linda Bollea and Charley Hill. He showed the beginning of the piece on "Inside Edition" but instead of showing photos of Linda & Charley together, he showed a really old grandma with a five-year-old. (thanks to Mike Malasev) --Lauren Mayhew, a singer and model, debuted as the new ring announcer for Smackdown last night. Jim Ross speculated that Justin Roberts would be moved to the Raw ring announcing job in his blog today. --The October issue of G.Q. magazine features a lengthy piece on concussions and the NFL. There is mention of Chris Nowinski in the piece, talking about his final concussion as a wrestler and health problems since the concussion, as well as plugging the book. Said to be a very good article (thanks to Daniel Thomason) --We will be back late tonight with Observer radio taking phone calls, so check the site at about 11 p.m. Pacific time. --Linda McMahon's campaign has sent out elaborate mailers to registered Republicans in Connecticut which indicate they are spending real money in the campaign. (thanks to Geoffrey Gillott) ---The Boston University paper has a nice article on ROH at http://www.dailyfreepress.com/the-world-of-wrestling-1.1909931 It promotes Friday night's house show and interviews former WWE writer Dave Lagana. Cary Silkin was also interviewed for the piece, plugging Boston's wrestling history and Bret Hart's appearance. They pushed it as the final time to see Nigel McGuinness and Bryan Danielson before they start with WWE. --I don't know what Chavo Guerrero did Monday night or last night, but on Twitter he wrote "Just gotta publicly say to Matt Hardy, "You're my boy, Blue!! Had a few to (sic) many last night! U know 1st day of the tour and all." Later he wrote, "I see that alot of u have tempers too. At least I'm not alone. If I offended anyone last night, sorry. I'd kiss u all if I could." He also responded to a fan and got mad: "u all realize that its not wrestling anymore, right? It's entertainment, sometimes I wonder by your comments. u guys realize that I can out "wrestle" most guys in the WWE, right? The way u guys respond, makes me think that u actually think I'm losing. It makes me think that I'm responding to RETARDS! We're not the UFC. It's not real! I can beat up a midget any day of the week, and so could u! But who wants to see that." I mean, a main eventer can do this no problem, but Chavo has been around long enough to know better. --Who do you think should be GSP's next welterweight title contender?
