--Hulk Hogan, in selling his book, claimed he came "damn close" to killing himself with Xanax and Rum before a phone call by Laila Ali convinced him to continue.  He also talked about Linda being abusive to their kids, claiming she once threatened Nick with a wine bottle, and that Linda is an alcoholic.  Expect to hear from Linda any day now.  Story is being run in many places but was originally in today's New York Daily News at http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/10/21/2009  He said he begged Linda not to divorce him, but she still did.  Showbiz Tonight on CNN Headline News will do a feature on this tonight at 11 p.m. Eastern

 

--We don't have more in the way of details, but Jim Ross is doing better today after suffering an attack of Bell's Palsy on Monday night.  He saw a neurologist today.  No word on if he'll be at the PPV  or a timetable of his return to the ring.

 

--ESPN won the cable ratings race with a 2.9 prime time average last week due to football.  USA was second at 2.2, an TBS was third, also at 22.  Syfy was No. 8 at 1.0 and Spike was No. 16 at 0.8  The two hours of Raw were No. 6 and No 8.  Top five were Monday Night Football, and three baseball playoff games which included Phillies vs. Dodgers game one (5.0), Phillies vs. Rockies game four (3.7) and Dodgers vs. Phillies game three (3.5).  In 18-34, Ultimate Fighter finished behind only Monday Night Football and one playoff game (Phillies vs. Dodgers game one).  However, in Males 18-34, TUF beat every baseball playoff game of last week in the demo.  In 18-49, Raw was No. 5 and No. 8, and Ultimate Fighter was No. 7.  Only one baseball game (Phillies vs. Dodgers game one) beat TUF and Raw.

 

--UFC announced its counter to the Strikeforce show on 11/7 on CBS.  They will be airing a two-hour special from 9-11 p.m., head-to-head (what a coincidence) on Spike airing Randy Couture vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Vitor Belfort vs. Rich Franklin, B.J. Penn vs. Kenny Florian and Anderson Silva vs. Forest Griffin

 

--Monday Night's Countdown to UFC 104 did 524,000 viewers.  That's a lower number than usual.

 

--Frank Mir is claiming he has purchased a solid steel cup to guard against the low blows of Cheick Kongo for their 12/5 match in Memphis

 

--In the U.K. for the week ending 10/11, Raw did 37,000 viewers live and 35,000 on the Thursday repay. Smackdown did 83,000.  Impact didn't crack the top ten on Bravo, so less than 38,000 (thanks to Ian Hamilton) 

 

--Judge Douglas Baird said today that Nick Bollea doesn't have to come back to Florida this week to give a deposition in the John Graziano family lawsuit.  Bollea is filming a movie called "Kill Katie Malone" but will be giving a deposition on 12/11.

--UFC this weekend has a ton of television, as Friday night at 9:30 they are airing UFC 95 from 2/21 in London headlined by Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Stevenson and Dan Hardy vs. Rory Markham.  Saturday they have programming from 4 p.m. straight through to 10 p.m.  At 9 p.m. they will air one hour live commercial free from UFC 104, with prelim matches Ryan Bader vs. Eric Schafer and Pat Barry vs. Antoni Hardonk.

--Don "D.C." Drake noted he has to pull out of the 10/24 TWA Reunion show in Voorhees, NJ because of coronary artery disease.  He's noted that he's had two heart attacks and 16 stents implanted to keep the blood flow intact.  In late summer, he had a serious heart attack and triple bypass surgery.  He said when he was opened up, they found the heart of an 80-year-old man.  He said he attributes his heart issues to his usage of testosterone in the 80s.

--Jeff Gagliardo noted the Chris Jericho appearance on VH-1 Classic's "The Metal Show" has no references to wrestling.  Jericho argued Bruce Dickinson was a better metal singer over Rob Halford, and ripped on Bruce Springsteen.  He was out of character and most talked Fozzy.
