--Kevin Iole just reported that Brock Lesnar is out of UFC 106.  Dana White got the word today from Lesnar that he had been suffering from a severe flu for three-and-a-half weeks and hadn't been able to shake it, and hasn't been able to train.  At this point decided he didn't have enough time left to get in top shape for the fight.  We've been able to confirm Lesnar has been sick so that part of the story is real, and was very down in recent days because he hadn't been able to shake it and it was coming up on a deadline of not having time to get in shape.  UFC contacted Shane Carwin and told him the plan right now is for the fight to take place on Jan. 2 in Las Vegas. We'll have more as the day goes on.

--For UFC this week on Spike, less stuff than in the past.  Nothing in prime time tonight, which is rare.  Wednesday has Unleashed from 8-10 p.m. with Matt Serra vs. Georges St. Pierre, Matt Hughes vs. B.J. Penn and St. Pierre vs. Penn as the highlight matches.  Ultimate Fighter airs at 10 p.m. on Wednesday as well as at 8 p.m. before Impact.  Listed preview is "Rashad and Rampage nearly come to blows.  Matt Mitrione continues too cause problems for his team by betraying one fighter and then lashing out at another.  The 7th preliminary fight takes place."

 

--Jim Ross talks Bragging Rights at http://www.jrsbarbq.com  The only update on his condition is he's awaiting results of an MRI on his head that was taken on Friday.  Everything else is in a holding pattern.  He won't be at the Smackdown tapings tomorrow and there is no estimate as to when he'll be back.

 

--We're still looking for a reporter who can do Monday night reports on the ROH television show.

 

--UFC 105 won't air live in Australia because Pacquiao vs. Cotto is taken precedent.  Unlike in the U.S. where it is free on Spike, this show will be a PPV in Australia airing at 6 a.m. on 11/21 and every four hours that day afterwards (thanks to James Stanios)

 

--Mick Foley on his myspace page talks about the roast for Terry Funk held on Saturday night.  He talked about meeting Billy Robinson for the first time at the convention, and said it was the first time he'd been at a roast but may also be the last time, as he wasn't happy with some of the meanness involved.  He said he didn't find jokes about J.R.'s Bell's Palsy, Magnum T.A.'s paralysis or the death of Patrick Swayze all that funny, plus felt the mean spirited nature of the jokes about Missy Hyatt ended up as overkill.  I'm just glad I wasn't there, because I can't even imagine finding a joke about Magnum T.A's paralysis funny at any point, let alone any jokes or Ross or Swayze this week.

--Some more WWE PPV changes.  Backlash is being retained as a name.  Extreme Rules, which took place in early June in the past, is moved to May 23, and the usual May Judgment Day name is off the schedule.

 

--Both ROH and Dragon Gate will be doing shows in Phoenix on WrestleMania week.  We don't have details of the Dragon Gate shows, but have confirmation of them.  ROH today announced a 3/26 show as well as a 3/27 afternoon show (so it ends before the Hall of Fame ceremony) at Phoenix College.  Tickets go on sale on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at www.rohwrestling.com.

 

--Some notes from Florida Championship Wrestling on Saturday night in Plant City, FL:  Trent Baretta b Wes Brisco (good match), Eric Escobar b Brett DiBiase, Bo & Duke Rotundo b Jimmy Uso & Danny Marlowe, Justin Angel (champ) won over Heath Slater, Curt Hawkins, Sheamus, Joe Hennig and Skip Sheffield in what started as a trios match but ended up as a Battle Royal for the title.  Abraham Washington did a show to set up the Escobar vs. DiBiase match.

 

--The Jeff Dunham show on Thursday night which Brooke Hogan appeared on did 5.3 million viewers for the first airing and 2.6 million more on later replays, making it the most-watched debut episode of a show in the history of the Comedy Central network.  That would be considerably more viewers then will watch Raw tonight, or any UFC same-day event.

 

--Today's New York Post on page 19 has Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson shooting scenes yesterday in the Financial District in New York for the movie "The Other Guys."   There has been stuff almost daily in one New York media after another regarding them shooting the movie there.

--A study showed that the greater Houston area had $49.8 million in total economic impact and the city collected $5.7 million in taxes due to WrestleMania coming to the city this year.  The year before in Orlando brought in $51.5 million according to estimates.  It's not a Super Bowl, or Final Four, but it's a very significant several day long entertainment event that is of great value to host cities, which is why in the past few years cities are making big plays to get it.

--The Maximum Fighting Championships have stripped Trevor Prangley as light heavyweight champ after a falling out with the company, and also released him from his contract.  They claim it was due to Prangley signing for fights in two different organizations while under contract to them.  Prangley said that he had asked MFC for permission to do the outside fights, but they never got back to him, so he did them.
