ROH results for 4/13 PDF Print E-mail

By Chris McLeod ("Wacy" on the BOARD)

If you'd like, here are some results from ROH in Long Island last night.

1) Kevin Steen d. Pelle Primeau

Good match, Steen looked good. Though the dynamic of Steen vs. Primeau was totally, "Captain of the Wrestling Team beats on the young JV guy."

2) Daizee Haze d. Sara Del Ray

Good match, a few botched spots from Haze but overall good. Sara Del Ray looked good and had a great "DEATH REY" shirt.

3) Erick Stevens d. El Generico, Eddie Edwards, and Jason Blade

This was a fun match. Generico was great despite some guy in the crowd being very loud and hating him. Nobody liked Jason Blade. Erick Stevens got over huge by whipping someone (I forget who) into the corner, yelling "CHOO-CHOO~!" and then running into him. The fans were chanting it the rest of the night and it got him over huge. Aries asking him to join the stable was fine but yes, the name "Resillience" is stupid.

4) Delirious d. Colt Cabana

There actually WERE streamers for Cabana, despite other reports. Really, really funny match. Pretty much straight up comedy the entire time, it was kind of weird to hear Delirious speak English in between his ramblings, but there was one great spot right at the beginning where Delirious put Cabana in a full nelson and yelled "WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO WHEN YOU HAVE TO FACE THE MASTER LOCK" or something like that. And then Cabana just broke it.

5) Claudio Castagnoli d. Jay Briscoe

They had a tough act to follow but they got the crowd into it well. Impressive job. The post-match stuff was fun with Castagnoli and Steen/Generico both demanding title shots, and Steen got over big as a heel for hitting Mark in the back of the head.

6) Brent Albright d. Homicide

Lots of wild crowd brawling early. Couldn't see what the hell was happening. Once they got back into the ring it was pretty good, maybe went a little too long, but a fun brawl.

7) Jack Evans d. Shingo

Fun match, what you'd expect from these guys. Jack wins and makes the crowd chant "SHINGO" afterwards. And they do.

8) Roderick Strong's No Remorse Corps d. Austin Aries' Resillience 3-0, eliminating Erick Stevens, Matt Cross, and Austin Aries (in that order)

This was fun. Wild brawling early with Roderick Strong ending up being thrown on top of me and elbowing me in the face inadvertantely. Thanks dude. Davey was a fun whacky heel, after they eliminated Stevens he comes up to us and yells, "I'M WINNING~!" NRC played the heels well, Erick Stevens did his "Choo-choo" spots well and was possibly the most over babyface in the entire match. The crowd went wild for him any time he got in the ring and even when he wasn't they were chanting "CHOO CHOO."

9) Nigel McGuinness & Doug Williams d. Chris Hero & Takeshi Morishima

Sadly, had to leave early so didn't get to see it. I heard it was good though.

Overall it was a good show, much better than the recent Long Island outings for ROH. The crowd was hot pretty much all night and very responsive to the action in the ring. Very fun atmosphere, good wrestling, made for a really good show.
