By Matt White Well, I’m back for another review of this here Ultimate Fighter show. I know that I didn’t review last weeks episode. I had the flu and hopefully it won’t happen for again this season. Let’s just say that last weeks episode was great. I hope they continue to keep the pace with the standard they’ve set so early on. Nate Diaz was pissed and he wanted to fight Dave. Don’t ask me why, I was trying to get my laptop set up at the beginning of the show (I usually write with a notebook and pen but I’m trying something new with this review). Tony, one of BJ Penn’s coaches, thought Gabe wasn’t prepared for training and didn’t take it seriously. Gabe wanted to get a “colonic” to cut weight. Yes, it’s what you think it is. Tony put him in his place at the team meeting by chewing him out. At the Team Pulver practice, Corey was going nuts. He got in peoples faces and was shouting all these random things. Nate said the whole team was crazy. Jen egged on Corey has he went crazy in training. I LOVE TEAM PULVER!!!!! Corey thought this was the time to push himself. No doubt it is the biggest opportunity for any up and coming fighter. Jens picked an “awesome” grappler to come in and teach the guys. That man was Jeremy Horn. When I hear the word “awesome grappler,” I’m thinking Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira or Fabricio Werdum or someone with a Brazilian name. Anyways, Nate loved Jeremy Horn and said “He fought everybody,” (pretty much true). Corey didn’t know who he was because he was married with two kids and had no cable (then, how did he get in to fighting?). He hoped to learn a lot of these guys names. Horn said Corey learned fast. Jeremy told Corey to come train with him and that he could make him a monster. Corey then sang, “This is my zone, this is my home!!!” and some other stuff that only the big bad wolf would say. Gabe went to “Healing Waters” to get a colonic. Oh boy. Gabe said he’s done it before. What ever happened to the sauna to cut weight? A woman put gel on a plastic tube and told Gabe to put it in his rectum. They showed his facial expression as it happened. It looked like what you would think it would look when you put something up your pooh-pooh hole. As this happened, the same woman massaged his stomach. She said she “loved it,” when poop came out. By the way, Gabe skipped morning practice for this. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll ever forget this segment. Back at the house, Nate didn’t like the guys joking around all day, walking around in thongs and “acting gay.” He said it gave him more motivation to kick their ass. How can anyone hate the Diaz brothers? Fight announcement: Well, first there was a commercial. It’s gonna be Rob Emerson vs. Nate Diaz. They had a staredown and it was great. Even Dana loved it, and said “I love this f%&ing season.” I think that’s true for everyone who’s watched. They recapped the anger of the Diaz brothers. They didn’t mention Nick’s defeat of Takanori Gomi. Diaz started writing “209” everywhere which is supposedly the area code for the city in California where he’s from. What’s with Californians and their pride in area codes? 619 anyone? Rob is from the OC, which makes me want him to lose. He started fighting when he was 19. Get this: He got his start in fighting when he was pulled from the crowd at an underground fight at the ripe age of 19. Nice. Sounds like something from a Don “The Dragon” Wilson movie. Toyota Scion weigh-in time. Both guys were 156. Dana said anything could happen in this fight. Rob thought he could beat Nate because he was just a street fighter. Nate said that Rob wasn’t going to call him a “bitch” (I have no idea if this ever happened) and get away with it. Of course, this all led to…… The Fight: I wonder if Nate will try to pepper him with weak punches to build points. Nate actually seemed to nail him a couple of times. Mostly a fight in the clinch and it was pretty much back and forth. Nate tried to grab Rob’s hands twice. How weird. Nate tried a kimura but no luck. Nate seemed to win the stand up war between the ten zillion clinches. Nate got a takedown but Rob got up immediately. In fact, Nate wasn’t having any luck with takedowns. Nate connected with a knee to the head. Nate tried another takedown but no success. Another clinch on the fence, Nate got out and landed some punches. Rob got some good knees in the clinch. After an unsuccessful trip attempt by Nate, the round ended. Well, that round was a bit of a war. I guess Nate won that round but it could go either way because both punched from the clinch. Round 2: Clinch on the fence. Nate landed some knees but he couldn’t get a takedown. He nailed Rob with some punches but it led to another struggle in the clinch. Nate finally got Rob down and Rob did everything in his power to get back up. Nate fought to keep him down. Rob looked tired as Nate peppered him with the trademark family punches. Rob seemed spent as Nate controlled him on the ground with those punches. Nate got full mount, Rob tried to reverse but received a rear naked choke for his troubles, tapping out with 17 seconds left. Good fight (In fact, Dana said it was the best fight in all five seasons), and another really good show. We get more Nate Diaz for at least a few more weeks!!!! Next episode, Jen gets pissed at one of his fighters!
