We're told Dana White has a major announcement on the show. Randy Couture has predicted Gabriel Gonzaga over Mirko Crocop in the main event. 1. Assuerio Silva vs. Cheick Kongo. Kongo won via split decision. Good God this was boring. 2. Terry Etim vs. Matt Grice. At least these two men are small so we might get some fast action. They're both 9-0. Grice was described as "strong". Etim tapped him out with a guillotine in round one. Not a great fight, but they worked the whole time and it was a decisive finish, plus it was the hometown boy getting the win. Looks like Crocop vs. Gonzaga is next~! Yeah, or not. You see, the main event is sponsored by the movie "NEXT", so they put "NEXT" on the screen when hyping up Crocop vs. Gonzaga. Seriously. 3. Elvis Sinosic vs. Michael Bisping. Heck of a fight. Bisping mauled him the entire first round and left him a bloody mess. Sinosic came out for round two and suddenly floored him with a knee, then put on a tight kimura. Bisping managed to escape and went back to the ground and pound for the win. I haven't been to the MMA message boards, but the story of this fight was pro-wrestling enough that I guarantee there are giant threads proclaiming it a work. It wasn't. 4. Fabricio Werdum vs. Andrei Arlovski. Hell of a first round. Well, it was fun while it lasted. Arlovski decided to recreate his fight with Tim Sylvia in round two. I think he went approximately two minutes without throwing a single strike, and then with a minute or two left he threw a weak leg kick here or there. Mike Goldberg was blaming this round on Werdum, but I don't know what fight he was watching. Third round was more of the same. Werdum was at least TRYING stuff. Arlovski threw NOTHING unless Werdum threw first, with the exception of weak leg kicks. An infuriating fight, and Rogan buried both guys, saying UFC didn't want to bring back guys who had fights "like this". Arlovski needs to be sent to the dark match circuit for the foreseeable future. Bullshit. Arlovski won. 5. Crocop vs. Gonzaga. Couture predicted an upset, and Gonzaga said he was going to surprise Crocop by going in there and standing with him. Crocop said, "Everyone has a plan." Well, Gonzaga had a hell of a plan, and the year of insane upsets continue. Gonzaga knocked him THE FUCK out with a high kick. This seriously was one of the scariest KO's I have ever, ever seen, maybe the scariest. Mirko dropped like a dead man, smashed his head on the ground, and his knee and ankle bent underneath him in a manner that suggested knee or ankle injury. Absolutely, positively devastating.
