ShowXC Elite Challenger Series Vol.1:

  • Feel free to send in your thoughts on the show! If you do, please include your BEST and WORST fight, and score the PPV from 0-10!

    -Mauro Ranallo welcomes us to the show. Stephen Quadros is along side with him, that’s cool. They explain that this is like SHOWBOX, highlighting names we may have not seen yet fighting their way up to an Elite XC Showtime show and or PPV.

    -They hype the card.

    -Jimmy Lennon Jr. is the announcer.

  • LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT - Muhsin Corbbrey (4-2) vs. Lee Gibson (10-2):

    -The Fight: ROUND ONE: Cecil Peoples is the official. They circle and leg kicks by Corbbrey. A combo follows, coming up short and more leg kicks. More combo work by Corbbrey and then leg kicks. Against the cage, they clinch and knees by Gibson. They separate, Corbbrey misses a right and then gets a body kick. They clinch and exchange knees and separate. Corbbrey with another good kick and is in control. Gibson in with a superman punch and misses. Leg kicks by Gibson, Corbbrey gets a nice jab. Back to the leg kicks and connecting. They both leg kick and connect. Spinning back fist by Corbbrey misses, and back to leg kicks. Gibson clinches, and they separate. Corbbrey misses a big high kick. Leg kick by Gibson, heading into the last minute of the round now and a big leg kick again by Corbbrey. Corbbrey connecting at will with leg kicks on the lead leg of Gibson. Gibson with a nice right, they clinch and exchange shots and finally separate. Gibson shoots in, Corbbrey reads it and they clinch. Body shots by Gibson and the round ends.

    LARRY'S SCORE CARD: Some feeling out at the start, but it ended up a close round. I will go with Corbbrey 10-9 as he commanded well with great leg kicks.

    ROUND TWO: They both try some punches, nothing landing. Corbbrey back with leg kicks again. A straight kick by Gibson, and leg kicks by Corbbrey. Corbbrey with a combo not hitting much but landing a few. Gibson gets a body lock, clinch against the fence and knees by Gibson. They separate, and we have time as Gibson’s tape starts to come off his glove. Back to action and they both jab. They continue to stand and not land much. Leg kicks again by Corbbrey connect. Good knees by Gibson and they clinch. Body shots by Gibson and a big right by Corbbrey. Back to the leg kicks and then a high kick lands. Gibson clinches, some knees and a nice uppercut lands for Corbbrey. Leg kicks and a body kick land for Corbbrey. Final minute of the round and more leg kicks by Corbbrey. Combos by Gibson connect now. They clinch again, knees by Gibson but still not doing much damage. They separate again and Corbbrey teases a spin kick and backs off as the round ends.

    LARRY'S SCORE CARD: A rather uneventful round. Gibson is working, but not doing a whole lot. Corbbrey still is working the kicks well, and I will award him the round again 10-9. Close round again.

    ROUND THREE: Final round now and leg kicks by Corbbrey to begin again. They continue to try and strike, not a lot landing. More hard leg kicks by Corbbrey land. Corbbrey just jukes Gibson easily, they both land jabs. Corbbrey with leg kicks and a high kick barely connects. A nice left by Gibson lands, and then misses a combo. A nice right by Gibson now, Gibson shoots in and they are clinched. They separate and both look for combos. Leg kicks by Corbbrey again. Knees by Gibson, he is more aggressive and shoots in and they clinch. He lands knees and rights in the clinch. A big right now and Corbbrey is confused and tries to knee out. Gibson with another big shot. Gibson tries a single leg, but backs off. Corbbrey with leg kicks to stay away. Misses a high kick. A good jab by Corbbrey lands now. Nice right by Gibson and then a good right. They clinch and more knees by Gibson. Leg kicks by Corbbrey, a jab lands and they clinch as the round ends.

    LARRY'S SCORE CARD: A more aggressive final round for Gibson. He did more damage here and takes the final round. I say 29-28 for Corbbrey, but it was close and could go either way.

    -The Result: Corbbrey via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

    Quadros is with Corbbrey. He says he is from the east coast and did his job. He loves the fans anyway. He never wanted to take it to the ground and says Sherdog has his record all wrong and he has some knockouts. He knew he won easily, as he controlled.


    -We get a video package for Silva vs. Rosa.

  • LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT - Jefferson "Tanque" Silva (3-1) vs. Aaron Rosa (9-0):

    -The Fight: ROUND ONE: Jason Herzog is the official. Leg kick by Silva and he almost slips. Jab by Rosa and more combos by both. Leg kick by Silva, they clinch and against the fence. Knees by Rosa, under hooks as well now and Silva turns him now. Knees to Rosa, they switch position again and center. Big knees by Silva. Against the cage again and a slam by Rosa! He has top, forearms by Rosa. Light rights by Rosa, and then a big right. Silva looks for a triangle now and Rosa passes and gets side position. Elbows by Rosa now, has the crucifix position and lands a lot of rights now. Rosa with more elbows and rights and no answer by Silva. Silva escapes now and Rosa gets hammer shots to the head. Silva covers up and Rosa lands more shots. Silva switches and escapes, gets his back and gets a rear naked choke, switches to mount and Rosa escapes! He has mount and gets more rights on Silva. Elbows by Rosa, BIG shots on Silva who covers up and the round ends.

    Silva was down for a bit after the round and is cut badly. Silva talks to his camp and looks as if he may want to quit.

    LARRY'S SCORE CARD: Some great counters by Silva, but Rosa dominated and I will easily go 10-9 for Rosa.

    -The Result: Aaron Rosa via Doctor’s Stoppage after Round 1 (TKO)

    Quadros is with Rosa. Rosa is Anti-Ju-Jitzu. Rosa thanks Jesus and says Silva is a tough guy. He was worried about Silva’s stand up due to K1 experience. Rosa wants better opponents and wants to get better.


    -We get a video package for Scott Jorgenson vs. Chris David.

  • BANTEMWEIGHT (135lbs) BOUT - Scott Jorgenson (3-1) vs. Chris David (8-5-1):

    -The Fight: ROUND ONE: Nelson Hamilton is the official. They clinch right away and David looks for a leg, Jorgenson keeps up and blocks the takedown. Knees by Jorgenson, a great elbow and combo follow and Jorgenson is in control in the clinch. Another good elbow by Jorgenson, Jorgenson looks for a takedown and David fights him off as they spend a lot of time clinched. Knees by David, right follows and they stay against the cage. A good right by Jorgenson, along the cage they go and we are halfway through the round. Jorgenson looks for a slam, stopped by David. The ref separates them, a good knee by David but Jorgenson gets a GREAT high kick and David is down. Lots of shots by Jorgenson, David fights back from bottom and looks for a guillotine. Jorgenson escapes and gets side control. Big knee by Jorgenson. Lefts now as David looks to escape. To their feet and a high kick by David lightly connects. A nice knee and combo follows and against the cage they go. Knees by David, looks for a double leg and Jorgenson with hammer fists to David. Jorgenson is cut now as they are clinched against the fence. A nice right by Jorgenson as the round ends.

    LARRY'S SCORE CARD: A great first round. Jorgenson takes the round 10-9 as he landed that great high kick and was close to finishing.

    ROUND TWO: Leg kicks by David to begin. Wild punches by Jorgenson as they clinch and Jorgenson looks for and gets a GREAT Slam! Mount by Jorgenson, lands some good shots from the top. Jorgenson unloads as David looks for a submission counter. Rubber-guard by David as Jorgenson works him against the cage. Forearms and elbows by Jorgenson, rights and even more elbows as he controls. David tries for an arm, but Jorgenson into north south position and to the feet they go. They are clinched and working a lot, David gets a rolling kimura, Jorgenson escapes and Jorgenson gets a wacky looking arm bar. David rolls and escapes. Lands some shots from the top, big ones and punches Jorgenson against the cage. Jorgenson pinned against the cage on the ground and then gets an odd body scissors, a weird kneeling tombstone piledriver position so to speak. Jorgenson grabs a leg as the round ends.

    LARRY'S SCORE CARD: A very active round. Jorgenson had the great slam, but David worked hard, had great counters and was very aggressive in the latter half of the round. I will go David 10-9. Even fight thus far for me.

    ROUND THREE: The final round begins and they come out throwing. Kicks by David now, Jorgenson shots in and against the cage they go. Takedown by Jorgenson, back up and a BIG shot by Jorgenson and David is dropped! Jorgenson unloads with rights and kicks and David back tracks and is not in a good way. They get back standing and David misses a flying knee. Takedown by Jorgenson and into side position. David turns into him, but Jorgenson lands big knees and right. David catches him and gets a guillotine. Jorgenson escapes and has mount. Some hammer fists by Jorgenson connect. Jorgenson has him against the cage now, some big shots from the top by Jorgenson. North south position and up to their feet and knees by Jorgenson. Nice takedown by Jorgenson again, elbows by Jorgenson again and tries to maintain control. David keeps looking for a triangle or arm bar but Jorgenson is smartly staying away but busy. They are made to stand with 90-seconds left. They clinch, good shots by David but Jorgenson charges and gets another takedown as the round ends.

    LARRY'S SCORE CARD: Jorgenson kicked it up big time in the round, very aggressive and dominating. He takes the round 190-9 and the fight 29-28 on my card.

    -The Result: Scott Jorgenson via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

    Quadros is with Jorgenson. Quadros says he dominated in the 3rd round. Jorgenson says he worked hard because anything can happen so he dominated the 3rd round. He says David has a hell of a chin and he got frustrated. He wasn’t impressed with his wrestling, no offense. Jorgenson has pink shoes and just lost cool points.


    -We get a video package for Jeremiah Metcalf vs. Jaime Jara.

  • GLADIATOR CHALLENGE MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE MATCH - Jeremiah Metcalf (5-2) vs. Jaime Jara © (15-4):

    -The Fight: ROUND ONE: Cecil Peoples is the official. Metcalf is the Gladiator Challenge Welterweight Champion. Jara held the Heavyweight and Light-Heavyweight titles in Gladiator Challenge as well. Metcalf in and clinches, knees to Jara and stomps by Metcalf. Knees again and Jara turns him and gets knees. Metcalf is able to stop takedown and get more knees and they are made to separate. Good shots land by both. Jara in, they clinch and knees by Metcalf. Jara takes him center, knees by Jara and then a big left. They both throw a bit wild, they clinch again. They are separated again by Cecil. Leg kicks by Metcalf, they trade jabs and more leg kicks by Metcalf. Jab by Jara and then a nice combo. They unload and trade, Metcalf is in control and Jara looks tired. Jara is rocked again and they clinch. Jara gets a big straight left, which DROPS him like a bad habit. Jara now on top and Peoples stops it.

    -The Result: Jaime Jara via KO @ 4:15 of Rd. 1

    Quadros is with Jara. Jara says he hits like a heavyweight. He has fought bigger guys and Metcalf hits hard. He has worked hands and was ready to stand if he needed to.


    -We get a video for Edson Berto vs. KJ Noons.

    -They show clips of Krazy Horse knocking KJ the hell out.

    -We see clips of Berto dominating in his last two wins.

  • LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT - Edson Berto (11-3-1) vs. K.J. Noons (3-1):

    -The Fight: ROUND ONE: Jason Herzog is the official. They come out and Berto throws first and connects. Berto shoots in and trips up Noons. Berto on top and has Noons against the cage, elbows by Berto. Berto looks to set up, some hammer fist shots but Noons fights back from bottom. Berto tries a heel hook, but Noons escapes very well. To their feet and a high kick by Berto connects. Knees by Noons, Berto misses a high kick and Noons with a nice uppercut. Berto shoots, nothing but gets a knee. Noons with a big left, jabs now and Berto shoots, Noons gets top and works some shots on Berto. Nice right by Noons, a big left and Berto to his feet as Noons lands more shots. Berto wildly misses a combo and Noons lands and avoids a takedown. Berto is backing off and not nearly as confident. Jabs by Noons, Noons presses and gets a sweet combo on Berto. Jabs again by Noons and defends another takedown. A nice leg kick by Noons as the round ends.

    LARRY'S SCORE CARD: Noons was more aggressive, had great takedown defense and did way more damage. A marked improvement from the Krazy Horse fight and he takes the round 10-9.

    ROUND TWO: Leg kicks by Noons to begin the round. They exchange, good body kick by Noons and Berto gets him down finally. Noons up and Berto takes him back down. To their feet again and a nice right by Noons, but Berto gets a takedown. Berto looks for a heel hook, Noons rolls and into north south. To their feet and a combo by Noons. Nice body shot by Noons and they mocks Berto. Jabs by Noons and nice high kick. Berto shoots in and Noons defends, does go down and Berto in side control. Berto tried an arm bar and Noons escapes and pops back up. Berto looks tired and defeated. Leg kicks by Noons. Combo by Noons and more jabs now. A nice left hook by Noons. Berto keeps looking at the clock as Noons lands more body shots. Noons just walks around and circles, landing body shots as will. Another left by Noons and Berto doesn’t even look like he wants to be there. Another good high kick by Noons. Noons keeps landing shots as the crowd hates the ending. Noons lands another shot as the horn sounds.

    LARRY'S SCORE CARD: Berto looked like he wanted to tap standing. 10-9 Noons.

    ROUND THREE: The final round begins now and Berto looks totally gassed. Leg kicks by Berto. Jabs as well, shoots for a takedown and Noons gets a big overhand right. Leg kicks by Noons, Berto shoots in and eats a knee by Noons! Noons on top with big rights and Berto is in big trouble and the fight is stopped! A very good stoppage there.

    The doctor is out to check on Berto.

    -The Result: KJ Noons via SPECTACULAR KO (Lennon Jr. said that) @ 0:45 of Rd. 3

    Quadros is with Noons and says that had to feel good. Noons wanted to show that he was a good fighter. His wind was running out, but he is happy. He drilled escaping the heel hook and was ready for it. They discuss his work of the body and Noons says he made him tired with the body shots. Noons wants a rematch with Krazy Horse.


    -Mauro Ranallo says it was a great debut for ShowXC. Quadros is back and says he was impressed with Noons. He came back from a devastating loss in a big way. They run down the results as we close the show.
