Boogeyman making his way to the ring for the opening match, his opponent Matt Striker comes out with a mic. Striker knows that he is going to win tonight because he is all knowing. First though he introduces the most dominant force in the history of ECW, Big Daddy V.
Big Daddy V distracts early, and Striker jumps him from behind. Boogeyman quickly lays him out though and Striker bails to hide behind BDV. Boogeyman with a body slam and leaping clothesline, sending Striker running again. Striker gets the advantage coming back in, but it doesn't last long as Boogey hits a splash in the corner. Striker running away from Boogey on the outside and BDV lays Boogey out with a clothesline for the DQ. Samoan drop by BDV on the outside and he and Striker stand over Boogeymans corpse.
A lock up before Balls gets a few punches and a back elbow. Miz fights out of the corner and gets a near fall after a clothesline. Russian leg sweep for another two count. Kelly looks sympathetic towards Balls, who makes a comeback with a flying forearm and then the combo punches. Back suplex by Balls for two. Miz catches balls with a kick to the gut, followed by the Reality Check for the clean win.
Thorn starts off with Stevie and stomps him down in the corner. Stevie hits a couple of kicks and tags in Dreamer and they double team Thorn. Thorn takes control of Dreamer, and tags in Elijah. Tommy back on offense now, but Thorn gets a cheap shot from the outside and Burke hits the STO. Thorn back in and drops the elbow. Chinlock from Thorn now, but he fights out and makes the tag after a drop toe hold sending Thorn into the turnbuckle. Stevie is a house of fire, and takes out both men. Thorn back in and shoves Stevie into the ring post. Dreamer with the Cactus Clothesline sending himself and Thorn to the outside, allowing Elijah to hit the Elijah Express on Stevie for the pinfall.
CM Punk chants as they lock up. Some back and forth on the ground and they both try for the quick victory. Crowd is hot. Punk with a hiptoss before he goes for control of the arm. Morrison counters out and stomps away at Punks head. Punkcounters an Irish Whip and ends up hitting a springboard dropkick with Morrison hung up on the ropes and gets a two count. Body slam and a legdrop for another near fall. Punk with a couple of kicks to the chest of Morrison, followed by a chop and a hard whip into the corner. Snap suplex from Punk and a float over for two. Morrison trips up Punk who goes throat first into the ropes. Punk is on the apron and Morrison goes for sunset flip to the outside, but Punk holds onto the ropes and counters to a springboard crossbody off the second rope which takes us into a commercial break.
Roll up by Punk after the break for another near fall. He goes for the knee in the corner but Morrison drops him out to the apron. Punk tries to springboard in, but Morrison dumps him to the mat. Morrison sets Punk up with his head hanging over the apron and kicks him in the face. A wacky dropkick through the ropes gets a near fall for Morrison, CM Punk chants as Morrison has a neck hold. Punk headbutts his way out, and they do a nice sequence which see's Punk counter for a near fall, before heading a running knee to the face. Morrison with a chinlock now, and uses the hair to take down Punk as he tries to fight out. Morrison to the top rope, but Punk is up as well and hits a big superplex. Both men are down to the count of seven, and Punk recovers quicker. Leg lariat from Punk gets a near fall and Punk is frustrated. Knee lift / bulldog combo for another near fall which the crowd thought was the finish. Punk goes for the backbreaker, but Morrison counters and hits a wacky kick. Morrison now with a split-legged corckscrew moonsault which looked AWESOME, and Punk kicked out. Morrison looks for his finisher, but Punk counters and looks for the GTS. Morrison fights out and rolls up Punk and looks to use the ropes but the ref catches him. Roll up from Punk now and the crowd is going nuts. Enziguri from Punk, and he looks for something in the corner but Morrison moves. Morrison misses his springboard kick, and that's enough for Punk to lift him up for the GTS and this one is over.
Overall Thoughts: Good ECW with a great main event this week. Crowd was pretty hot all night which certainly helps, and they went nuts for the main event which was the best match between these two. CM Punk wins the belt tonight while Morrison is off on a 30-day suspension, but it's highly likely Punk would have won the title at Unforgiven or shortly after anyway. Will be interesting to see where they go with Punk's title reign, and if his fued with Morrison resumes again after the suspension. The two other main stories continue, with BDV taking out Boogeyman, and Kelly Kelly is still swooning over Balls. Thumbs up for this show. {plug} |
