9/28/07 Full Impact Pro Results

Friday Night, FIP debuted in a new venue in familiar territory: The National Guard Armory in Brooksville, for their 3rd Year Anniversary weekend with some of the top stars from ROH and Chikara. They've been building for Cage of Pain II (the Saturday Show) for a while and this is the go-home show until then, if you'd call it that.

----

The YRR opens the show (as usual) gloating about their recent success in FIP. They come out with the Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew, composed of Lacey and Rain, who are apparently friends of theirs now. Seth Delay (who has had a continued feud with the YRR for decades it seems) comes out and challenges any member of the YRR (this has been done quite a few times, and Seth usually loses). Kenny King accepts this time around.

Match #1: Kenny King of the YRR defeated Seth Delay with a nasty looking Burning Hammer. Not a clean finish: tons of interfierence.

Jigsaw came out to save Seth (why didn't he stop the interfierence earlier) and Blade got in the ring and we had our second match...

Match #2: Jason Blade of the YRR defeated Jigsaw with a TNA-style roll-up. Jigsaw is awesome. The YRR attacks Jigsaw until Black Market come out and make the save. Black Market put over the Cage of Pain Match the next show, describing the various weapons they will use (chairs, light tubes, etc), and challenge the YRR for a Street Fight Main Event.

The Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew of Lacey and Rain get into the ring once the YRR clear it and talk about how there are no women in the building to challenge them. Daizee Haze comes out, followed by Shimmer champion Sarah Del Ray. So we have a non-title three way.

Match #3: Lacey (w/ Rain) defeated Shimmer Champion Sara Del Ray and Daizee Haze in a 3-Way Non-Title Women's Match with some DDT variation (sorry, I looked away for a second). These women clobbered each other very hard. During most of the match, Rain attacked Daizee and kept her out of the match while the other two battled. Lacey scored the fall on Daizee.

Match #4: The Irish Airborne defeated Hallowicked and Scott Commodity. Crowd wasn't too into this one.

Gran Akuma makes his entrance. Dave Prazak puts over his hired gun, THE NECRO BUTCHER~!.

Match #5: DP Assosiate THE NECRO BUTCHER~! (w/ Dave Prazak and Mr. Milo Beasley) defeated Gran Akuma clean with the Tiger Driver in a decent No Rules match.

After the match, Necro does a number on Gran Akuma until Delirious's music plays and he comes out to fight off Necro, until Larry Sweeney attacks him from behind. Dave Prazak reveals Larry Sweeney is the newest member of the DP Assosiates, which leads to...

Match #6: "Sweet and Sour" Larry Sweeney (w/ Dave Prazak and Mr. Milo Beasley) defeated Delirious after Necro came back out and hit Delirious with a steel chair when the referee wasn't looking.

--Intermission--

Match #7: FIP Florida Heritage Champion Erick Stevens defeated Chico's #1 Student JACK EVANS~! with the Doctor Bomb. Best match of the night up until this point. Jack is nuts, as expected and the crowd was solidly behind him the whole match, even though Stevens is local. Stevens isn't as popular in FIP as I'm sure Gabe would like him to be, and the people loved Evans. Those who saw him for the first time came up to me pleased, often wondering if he had suicidal tendencies.

Match #8: BxB Hulk and Yamato from DRAGON GATE~! defeated FIP World Heavyweight Champion Roderick Strong and FIP World Tag Team Champion Jay Briscoe in a match under Dragon Gate (Lucha) rules. Originally scheduled to be Jay and Mark, due to Mark's injury, Roderick subbed. Best match of the night by far. Quick and hot action. BXB Hulk got the pin over Jay Briscoe, surprising everybody.

After the match, Larry Sweeney attacked Roderick with the Tex-Arcana title and told him he wanted a shot the next night at the belt.

Match #9: The YRR of Chasyn "Not Cocky" Rance and Sal Rinauro defeated Black Market in a Street Fight. All four members of the YRR came out to beat down The Black Market until the Heartbreak Express came down and evened it at 4-to-4. They didn't go into the crowd as I expected, but it was a typical garbage match main event that FIP's been doin.

After the match, Joey Machete from Black Market cut a promo on the YRR, warning them about Cage of Pain.

Thoughts:

Pretty good show. Some wacky spots from Jigsaw and Jack Evans, but that's no surprise. Since this building is a bit new, crowd didnt recognize many of the faces. I like this venue a lot and hope FIP returns and uses it more often. Personally, I'm getting sick of the World Champ not being in the main event. Out of all of the FIP Shows this year, Roderick Strong has been the last match on the show maybe 3 times (possibly 4, I don't remember) while the main event is usually with Black Market and the YRR or the Briscoes. It reminds me of old ECW when Heyman would put the Public Enemy on last at a lot of the shows, after the World Title. Hey, it's fine once in a while, but we've been waiting for Roderick to close the show for a while and it hasn't happened. FIP can really be seen as a top indy now, with pretty reasonably big crowds and big stars coming in.

FIP runs next on 9/29/07 with Cage of Pain II, featuring the blowoff of the feud between Black Market and Heartbreak Express, against the YRR of Kenny King, Jason Blade, Sal Rinauro, and Chasyn Rance. {plug}
