Results from the second round of the Ted Petty Invitational!

Quarter-final match: Josh Abercrombie d. Devon Moore.

Quarter-final match: Brent Albright d. Joker.

Quarter-final match: Human Tornado d. 'Spyder' Nate Webb .

Quarter-final match: 'Lightning' Mike Quackenbush d. Joey 'Magnum' Ryan.

They did an injury angle with this match. Quack hit the floor and sold it hard but was able to get back in and gut out the win.

Quarter-final match: Claudio Castagnoli d. Davey Richards.

Quarter-final and IWA Mid-South Title match: Chuck Taylor d. Scorpio and retains the Heavyweight Title.

Fans gave Scorpio a very enthusiastic round of chants afterwards including PLEASE COME BACK!!

The announcers tell us that Quackenbush would not be able to continue and that Abercrombie would receive a bye in the next round before taking intermission. Scorpio and Chris Hero signed autographs and t-shirts and were very cordial to all the fans.

Semi-final match: Claudio Castagnoli d. Brent Albright. Very good match!

Semi-final and IWA Mid-South Title match: Chuck Taylor d. Human Tornado and retains the Heavyweight Title .

Abercrombie comes out to have his victory by forfeit announced in the ring. Quack's music hits and the place goes nuts. Quack refuses to give up his spot in the tournament and demands they continue with his match.

Semi-final match: Mike Quackenbush d. Josh Abercrombie. The reactions for Quack in this match were insane.

Last man standing match: Eddie Kingston d. Chris Hero. The opening four to five minutes of this match were like the Pied Piper leading the wrestling fans in a big circle around the ring as they brawled from the merch table to the concession stand all the way to the other side of the ring. The build got bigger and bigger and multiple items came into play, including at least three chairs and a section of the barricade in the ring itself. Kingston finally says "It's time for you to die motherfucker" and throws Hero into the barricade and he lands on his head and is unable to answer the ten count. Insanely awesome match. Kingston had a huge gash on his face. Hero was unable to get up afterwards for at least three minutes.

Tag Team Title match: Nigel McGuinness with surprise partner BJ Whitmer versus the Iron Saints (Thomaselli Brothers) is a NO CONTEST. Nigel and BJ turned on each other near the end of the match (BJ had kicked Nigel in the face but blamed HIM for botching the spot) and then Albright ran in and they started beating him down two on one so the ref threw the match out. The Thomasellis issue an open challenge to Albright & Whitmer, any time, any place, and both give Nigel mad respect.

TPI FINALS with IWA Mid-South Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Title on the line: Mike Quackenbush d. Claudio Castagnoli and Chuck Taylor to retain his Light Heavyweight title and WIN the IWA Heavyweight Title. Castagnoli was pinned by Quack and Chuck was submitted for the finale. The crowd literally exploded when they counted three and his hand was raised. Ian Rotten comes out to thank Quackenbush for embodying the spirit of pro wrestling and representing exactly the kind of man Ted Petty was. Quackenbush thanks the crowd, the wrestlers in the back, all wrestlers everywhere and most of all Ted Petty. He tells us it's been a heck of a year for him but it's not over yet and to be on the lookout for his name in the Michonokou Pro results in the weeks to come.

Personal note: all of the matches tonight were good to outstanding, and easily rival any Ring of Honor show I've ever attended. The fans were awesome, the interaction between the wrestlers and fans was hilarious (Chuck Taylor got in a fight with a little kid AND insulted my mustache) and the wrestlers themselves busted their ass for a passionate crowd of people who truly love pro wrestling the way it is and should be. I have to put over the ring crew, the vendors at the merchandise table, the fans in the building from one end to the other, and once again the wrestlers themselves for quite literally busting their asses. Thank you for making my trip to Midlo a memorable one and for giving me a reason to come back to TPI again. Support IWA Mid-South and buy the DVD's, you won't regret it! {plug}
