The show starts off recapping Matt’s two previous losses, which he attributes to the guys not following his gameplan. It then cuts to the locker room where Hughes chews out Dan and says he didn’t give him ‘Ten minutes of Dan Barrera’ citing stupid moments like not backing off when he got a knock down in the first. Dan tries to say something, but is immediately cut off by Hughes again who continues his tirade. The next day at training, Dana has a pep talk with Hughes and tries to back up Barrera’s performance. Hughes however, doesn’t give a fuck about the fight and keeps shutting down White’s attempts to say it was good and that Dan tried his heart out. Hughes then says he doesn’t feel like being there. Dana tells Hughes to just hold a ‘Jesus Meeting’ and beat the shit out of them. That hasn’t worked yet, Dana. Training time comes and Matt gives his team a talk about ‘following the gameplan’ and how he has no idea what to do anymore. He tells them that he thinks he must be there for them and therefore will not quit on them. But he tells them that he wants them to give him a reason to stay, and training begins. Hughes still sees no progress and wants to see ‘energy’ and not ‘just moves.’ Jared Rollins in an off-camera segment says he is offended by this and says he and Tommy haven’t even fought yet and they don’t need to hear the drama. Back on-camera Jared rallies the team to get going and it instantly pisses off Hughes, who says Jared reminds him of Dan. Hughes brings up the knockdown again and says Dan was too scared in the very first minute. He says Dan was just putting on a show for everyone. Hughes says he wants ‘the real people out there.’ Dan in the midst of all this, was at the hospital for his broken nose, so he had no chance to defend himself. Back at the house Mac thinks Hughes was too hard on Dan and Paul and says most of the guys are just rookies, and that Dan fought his ass off. He says if he was treated that way, he would’ve quit the team. Dan returns and the guys congratulate his effort, trying to sway off what Hughes said to him. The next day arrives and it’s fight announcement time. Serra with an off-camera segment loves the mentioning that he has control of all the quarter-finals and makes fun of Hughes. Anyway, Hughes puts Jared against George. George does training and recaps his career with 7 wins and 2 loses. He talks about loving fighting all his life back in his home of Australia. He says he’s very serious about the fight. In the house however, some people vent their frustration for George not being a team player like waking his teammates up when he gets up. Because most don’t like sleeping past 10 and he doesn’t wake them up, it pisses them off. Ben Saunders asks George in the car to do it next time and George says, ‘no’. Well that’s that. At Serra’s training session, Serra puts over George as the one with the hardest work ethic and says people on his team have nicknamed him The Overachiever. Hughes training session is up and Marc fucks up Jared somewhere in there. Jared’s rib ends up damaged. An EMT on site tells him his ribs may be hurt. Hughes then brings in his own personal Witch Doctor who says he may not be able to fight. Jared goes into the corner and cries and it makes Hughes happy, because he thinks Jared is really wanting to win. Later that day at the house Jared comes home and says there won’t be much of a problem as long as he sucks it up. He can still fight. Jared does training and recaps his career and states he’s been fighting for 8 years. Bowman says he’s the ‘dark horse’ to win. I wonder if there was an intentional joke in that comment. Douchebag Mac then comes on camera and says he thinks he’s the best, but Jared and George are right behind him in talent, so it should be interesting. Next day it’s 11:16 and Ben has finally woke up. Ben asks him what time George got up and George is instantly pissed off. It’s funny that Ben bitches him out because there’s already a few other teammates up at that time too. Ben thinks he doesn’t care about the team. Ben off-camera says everyone thinks he’s a dick, although nobody else ever comments on him so I think Ben is just being a bitch. Ben continues bitching and George tells him to shut the fuck up and then leaves. Weigh-ins. They make weight. Jared tries coming off as a tough guy. Serra thinks that Jared is not as tough as he thinks he is. The next day it’s fight time with referee Steve Mazagatti. The fight begins and the two measure each other up. For a few minutes, George lays him some nice shots before eventually shooting in. The takedown doesn’t go well as Jared has a good sprawl. George immediately gets back up and they go back into striking. They measure each other up more and then George just smashes his face in and Jared crumples to the ground with fists raining onto his face. Mazzagatti steps in and stops the fight. After the fight, everyone gives their thoughts. Serra thinks it was a great fight. Hughes says Jared was just ‘doing moves’ and didn’t look like he wanted to be in there. George said Serra’s coaching reminded him of all their training and so he was definitely in the groove to pull out a victory. Jared just does a hilarious Serra impression and stated he wanted him to shut the fuck up. The team congratulates George and Serra says it’s now 6-1. Hughes has the best on-camera segment ever where he just frowns and says nothing. Then in the locker room, or kitchen, or whatever it is, Jared has a breakdown and throws shit everywhere. He goes outside and Dana gives him a pep talk stating everyone gets knocked out, bringing up Chuck’s 2nd loss to Rampage. It gets through to Jared and he calms down. Next week it’s the final preliminary fight, Tommy Speer vs. Jon Koppenhager. Tommy reminds Hughes of himself and Jon is just a psychopath. It will be interesting. {plug} |
