By Bryan Alvarez This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Thanks to Mike Coughlin for this report on the prelims: a. Gurgel beat Halverson via unanimous decision. b. Diego by round 1 stoppage over Bielkheden. c. Luigu beat Luke. This was as bad as it gets. Boring. d. Koscheck by KO in the second (really). e. Arlovski by stoppage in round 2. Boring until that point. We're onto the live show. 1. Jon Fitch vs. Chris Wilson. Wilson looked good in the first, got mauled in the second, and then lost most of the third until he actually hooked Fitch in a pretty tight triangle with 30 seconds left. Went to the judges and they gave it to Fitch. They showed clips of Mark Coleman getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. Coleman then announced that Dana had given him five months to train for a fight with BROCK LESNAR. Seriously. 2. Evan Tanner vs. Yushin Okami. Not much excitement in the first outside a knockdown by Okami. Okami knocked him out with a knee from the clinch in the second. Tanner was OUT. This made me sad. Okami wants Anderson Silva. 3. Chris Leben vs. Alessio Sakara. Leben won. The story of this fight was that Chris blocked punches with his face for nearly an entire round, then finally punched him out. We were watching this with a guy who had sat through Strikeforce last week and then the first two fights on this show, so he was thinking fighting was pretty fucking lame at this point. He doesn't think so anymore. This was something else. "God damn!", he kept saying, over and over. 4. Heath Herring vs. Cheick Kongo. This isn't the most exciting war ever, but it's certainly a war. We're onto the third round. Well, that was fun. Kongo is almost completely useless on his back. It went to the judges and Heath got the split decision. 5. UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva vs. PRIDE Middleweight Champion Dan Henderson in a unification match. First round was all DYNAMITE DAN, who took Silva down and pounded on him the whole time. Round two, well, different story. Silva rocked him on the feet, then when it went to the ground Silva got his back, put him in a body triangle, and then tapped him out with a rear-naked choke. A hell of a performance by Silva. Thanks for joining us tonight. Vinny and I will be up by midnight PST with a complete rundown and analysis of this show. Talk to you then!
