By Mitchell Jones SmackDown opens through the shining white light with Teddy Long announcing that all the titles will be defended tonight. Cue Ryan McCombs shouting that he will rise up as the intro credits roll. In the ring, Michael Cole introduces Mick Foley as the new full-time color commentator. Can't wait for those non-stop references to Katie Couric. John Morrison and The Miz defend the tag team titles against Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore. This gets the boxing-style intro, which rocks my world to know that this is now company policy for all title matches. The match is nothing I haven't written about before - both teams switch momentum until the heels get the heat on Yang. Moore finally makes the hot tag and lays both opponents out, but Miz throws Yang to the outside and Morrison lands the spinning neckbreaker (now called the Moonlight Drive) on Moore to get the win. Armando Estrada introduces Colin Delaney to the ring to face Vladimir Kozlov. The USA chants start, which is the most heat Kozlov will ever get. You can always tell which monsters will get over and which won't, and Kozlov won't. If you guessed that Kozlov got the win via squash, have 100 points on me. The reverse DDT finishes Delaney off. Backstage, Mark Henry confronts Nunzio about their match later on. Victoria and Natalya take on Wonder Woman McCool and Cherry. Why is McCool so damn unlikable? Why are Victoria and Natalya so scared of her? Just kill her. KILL HER NOW. KILL THAT STUPID BINT!!! *ahem* so anyway, Cherry hits a crossbody to Victoria off the top rope and pushes Natalya off the apron, but Neidhart trips her and Toria takes control. Hot tag to Wonder Woman, the ring is cleared, but Victoria smartly pushes her off the turnbuckle and Natalya gets the roll-up for the win. Mark Henry is ready to face Nunzio, but the crafty Italian brings The Big Show with him to even out the odds against The Worlds Strongest Man. Show does nothing in the match and allows Henry to power Nunzio into defeat with the powerslam to the mat. Post-match, Henry picks Nunzio up, but Show climbs in to defend his buddy and Henry retreats to the outside, raising his arms and smiling like he just stole a delicious Subway sandwich. Show grabs a mic and tells Henry to pick on someone his own size next time. Matt Hardy defeats MVP in the US title match to retain in a decent match. MVP works on Hardy's upper body with chokes, arm stretches, and the big running kick to the face for a nearfall. Hardy blocks a kick to the gut and hits the Twist Of Fate for the win. Finlay faces a blast from the past in the next match - Julio Dinero. Julio used to be Julio Fantastico, a regular Shotgun Saturday Night jobber who became famous (as far as anyone can be under the conditions) for being a part of Raven's mini-Flock with Alexis Laree (Mickie James) in TNA during the early years. Hornswoggle trips Dinero on the outside and Finlay finishes him with the Celtic Cross centre-ring for the victory. Post-match, Hornswoggle hits the Tadpole Splash and Cole laughs heartily. "Gotta laugh at father and son." Mick Foley introduces Batista to the ring and brings up the controversy of the Shawn Michaels/Big Dave match at Backlash where Michaels acted injured but still managed to kick Batista in the face, limping out at the end of the match. Dave states that he lost and let the side down, but Foley asks if Michaels was really feigning the injury. Batista claims that he will injure Shawn for real if he's faking. Festus returns, without any hoo-hah whatsoever (not even an entrance) with Jesse to face Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder. No gimmick change, and no mention of the match with The Undertaker at all, at least until the end. The big man takes Hawkins down with a running splash, shoulderblock and jumping squash on the chest, but Hawkins manages to avoid the crossbody from the top and hits a reverse neckbreaker/front DIamond Cutter-style move for the win. Festus sells the throat, thanks to the Gogoplatu. The Undertaker enters the ring for his match with The Great Khali, but Vickie Guerrero and Edge come out and Vickie claims that "that chokehold" is illegal in the WWE and subsequently bans it. Futhermore, due to his lack of remorse and pressure from authorities, she has no choice but to strip Taker of his World title. This brings out The Great Khali, but the giant gets locked in the "lethal chokehold". With Taker distracted, Ryder and Hawkins steal the title belt and hand it to Vickie on the stage. Khali bleeds from the mouth as Edge wheels Vickie backstage and Taker stares on.
