Wrestling By This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it - We're very sorry to report the passing of former women's wrestling star Penny Banner. She had been fighting cancer for a long time and her daughter Wendi said this morning that she'd passed away last night peacefully in her sleep. This year she will be the first woman inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in Waterloo, IA. There is a nice article about her life up here.- Smackdown/ECW and TNA both tape tonight, so if you attend we would love reports for the front page to the above address and also to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Thank you! - Raw last week was the second and third most-time-shifted program in the cable top 20. The first hour was shifted by 7.3% and the second hour by 7.0%. The Hills was number one with 33%, which is a huge number of people watching on DVR. - And speaking of ratings, last night's American Gladiators did a 2.9 in the fast nationals, which is an awful number and may not bode well for the future of the show. - We don't have any details yet, but in an article about the ABC fall TV roster it was casually mentioned that ESPN is developing some sort of series on mixed martial arts. - Only thing I know about ECW tonight is that Colin Delaney will be signing his WWE contract. Apparently either this week or next Mick Foley will be back doing another skit with the Teacher. You know, because the first one was so compelling. - Abyss' return to TNA should begin with a video package this Thursday. - Dream 4 takes place June 15th at the Yokohama Arena. - The trailer for "Bigger, Stronger, Faster", which apparently is a great film about steroid use, is up here. The film opens in limited release on May 30th. - AEG, one of the world's largest sports and entertainment presenters, bought into Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions this week and is now the second largest shareholder behind De La Hoya himself. Thanks to Mike Sempervive. - Devin writes:Axl Rotten will be appearing at the NWA East/Undisputed Championship Wrestling events in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on May 31st, 2008 and August 2nd, 2008. Go to http://nwaeast-ucw.webs.com for info about NWA East/UCW and http://www.prowrestlingevents.tk for info about upcoming shows. - Backlash takes place April 29, 2008 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. - Saul writes: PWG World Champion Human Tornado (who recently suffered a knee injury that will keep him out of action for a year) has setup a spot on his Myspace page for donations to help pay for his medical bills. Human Tornado will also throw in a free poster for every donation. Link: http://www.myspace.com/htizzle - There is a new Kayfabe Commentaries with Sandman available here. - It's in Spanish, but there is an interview with Kemonito, the midget blue monkey of CMLL, up here. I do know that he admits to being Alushe before taking on this character, and that he claims to weigh 154 pounds. For those who have ever seen me wrestle, this would mean that midget blue monkey outweighs me by about five pounds. I call shenanigans. Thanks to Mark Coale. - Lance Storm has a Q&A up here. - A story on the chew-defiling Jeremy May - Bill Would Allow "Ultimate Fighting" in SC - This used to be one of the best places to go to learn how to work - Impact spoilers if you missed them - Iron Ring is more circus than serious - Note to webmasters/reporters: When recapping news from this site or from our newsletters, please include a link to www.f4wonline.com as opposed to "From F4W", "From Figure Four Weekly" or derivatives.
