By Mitchell Jones SmackDown is live via pre-record with heat machine Vickie Guerrero on the stage, accompanied by Edge and his stupid-looking shoes. The gist of the promo is that Vickie can draw a reaction just from trying to get out of her wheelchair. Oh, and Edge will face The Undertaker at One Night Stand in a TLC match for the world title, and if the Deadman loses, he’ll be “banished” from the company. Way to make it a foregone conclusion. Where’s he gonna go? TNA? Think of the matches… Maryse, Domino and Douche… sorry, Deuce, defeat Cherry, Jesse and Festus. Cherry hits Maryse with a bulldog but the cover is broken up by the greasers. Festus kicks Deuce into Cherry and Maryse kicks her stupidly stiff in the head to get the win. Backstage, Chavo Guerrero tries to calm the air between Edge and he, but Vickie makes Chavo vs. The Undertaker for tonight instead. Edge promises that La Familia will be a unit. MVP introduces The VIP Lounge with his guest: former GM Theodore Long. To think, this guy used to be quite the chubby little manager and then came into the WWE as a lowly referee. And now, he’s a respected authority character and still a strong promo. So anyway, MVP lays into him for being jealous of the good looks, talent and hair that the former US champ has, which brings out Batista. The bouncer lets him in, and Big Dave wishes Teddy well for his future before threatening to shove his fist down MVP’s throat if he touches Teddy. Batista destroys the set to demonstrate disrespect and MVP hightails like a bitch. Vickie Guerrero makes MVP v Batista for tonight. What, you expected more? Children’s favourite Finlay beats Chuck Palumbo. Unsurprisingly stiff at times, this one ends with Palumbo dragging Hornswoggle into the ring, who sprays mist into his eyes and takes a Shillelagh from Finlay. Post match, the referee tries to work out why Palumbo has mist over his face whilst the leprechaun hides his mouth from him. That was pretty neat. Batista pins MVP with a Batista Bomb. Porter spends most of the match working on Dave’s left arm, but Batista hit’s a spinebuster and the bomb to end it. The Raw recap showcases the Piper/Santino feud, including the clips from Jimmy Kimmel and the cake into Santino’s face. Vladimir Kozlov then defeats Nunzio with a reverse DDT. This doesn’t even deserve it’s own paragraph. How long until they job him to The Undertaker? JAMAICAN ME CRAZY Kofi Kingston and Matt Hardy defeat Shelton Benjamin and the oft-forgotten Elijah Burke. The heels team on Hardy, leading to the Kofi hot tag. Hardy takes Burke out, Benjamin deposits of Hardy, and Kingston drills Benjamin with his spin kick for the three. The second Raw recap focuses on William Regal being fired on Raw. The Undertaker pins Chavo Guerrero cleanly. Taker is beaten on the outside by La Familia, so Charles Robinson tosses them out (rather out than off though, eh?). Left with only Bam Neely, Chavo stands no chance, seeing a top rope dive caught into a match-ending Tombstone. Summary: Not a must-see show, but certainly entertaining. {plug} |
