Last night I went to the WWE Smackdown/ECW Live! show at Rod Laver Arena. The place was absolutely packed as it always is when WWE comes to Australia. We start the night with Justin Roberts in the ring getting the crowd pumped up for the night of action ahead. Then he is interupted by SHANE O' MAC? Shane tells us that as we all know, the Undertaker was banished from WWE at One Night Stand. He says that Vickie Guerreo gave the Undertaker a choice whether he wanted to bid fairwell to the fans in Australia and, of course he did. Then PYRO! First Match of the Evening: CHAVO (with Bam Neely)VS. CM PUNK (No.1 Contenders Match for ECW Title) I really hate these stupid stipulations that they do at house shows that mean nothing. Anyway Chavo stalled getting in the ring for about 15 mins and that got the crowd really fired up. Once it got started, it was a decent match with Punk hitting the scoop powerslam, then Chavo hitting 2 of the 3 amigos, then Bam hitting a cheap shot on CM Punk. Then the springboard clothesline from Cm Punk, Superplex from Chavo, High Knee and Bulldog from Cm Punk for a 2 count, then GTS for the win. Second Match: KOSLOV VS. MOORE AND NOBLE. This was your typical Koslov match with Moore and Noble getting little offence in before Koslov hits the inverted DDT for the win. Third Match: KOFI KINGSTON VS. SHELTON BENJAMIN Wow. Shelton got a big pop! Bigger then Kofi's. Maybe everyone just likes Paydirt. This was a really good match. After lots of holds from Benjamin, Kofi hit his legdrag, a crossbody and the double leg drop thing, but then out of nowhere shelton hits the T-Bone Suplex for a near fall, Shelton goes for paydirt, but kofi hits Trouble in Paradise for the win. Fourth Match: VICTORIA with Natalya VS. Michelle McCool. Victoria stalled the start of the match, which really was the theme of the evening for the heels. This match was pretty boring back and forth holds, before Michelle made victoria sumbit with a leg submission. Fifth Match: Miz and Morrison vs. Final and Hornswoggle. WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH. Good match Miz and Morrison hit all there normal moves and when Finlay was down they bullied Hornswoggle to extreme heel heat from the crowd. But then Finlay saved the day with a Finlay Roll, then a Tadpole Splash from Hornswoggle, then as he went for the Celtic Cross on Morrison, Miz hit a low blow for the three count. After the match Finlay hit Miz and Morrison with the Shelijah? INTERMISSION Sixth Match: MATT HARDY VS. CHUCK PALUMBO US CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH BIG POP for Matt. Chuck Dominated this match. But, as usual, Hardy came back and hit the AHHHHHH! elbow. (I wish he still the leg drop.) Then Side Effect for two, then Chuck came back and went for full throttle, but Matt countered and hit the twist of fate. (Chuck sold the twist of fate really well it looked awesome) Seventh Match: BROTHERS OF DESTRUCTION VS. MVP and MARK HENRY Mark Henry is HUGE! I thought Kanes pop was loud until I heard that bell. Undertaker was in Melbourne!! This was a suprisingly boring match with MVP and Henry working at their usual VERY SLOW PACE. But then Undertaker hit Oldschool on MVP. (When he went for it on MArk Henry, he caught him in a bear hug.) Then a chokeslam, but Henry broke up the count. Then Kane got angry and they double chokeslamed Henry, then MVP got a Tombstone for his efforts. Eighth Match: FUNAKI VS. KHALI The Definition of a squash. Giant Chop from Khali, then vice grip for the win. MAIN EVENT: BATISTA VS. EDGE FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Edge stalled the longest out of everyone. Then he got on the mic and said everyone in the crowd is a wanker. Then Batista said that he found it hard to disagree with 15,000 Australians. But he said Edge isnt a wanker, hes a chicken shit. Now edge finally started the match. Batista controlled the whole match he hit a spear for 2. Then he went for the batista bomb but Edge countered and hit the Edgecution. Then Edge went for the spear, but Batista hit the spinebuster. Then Chavo and Bam ran down. He got rid of them then hit the Batista Bomb on edge but Bam broke up the count at the last second. Edge disqualified. Then everyone starts bashing Batista, but then the bell tolled. Undertaker came out and Bam and Chavo ran away then Edge was corned between Batista and Undertaker, and got lots of fists in his face before the TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER. Undertaker then left and Batista stayed around and high-fived all the fans to close the show. All in all a good show, maybe they should have had the khali match a bit earlier.
