Hi Dave I watched SD for the first time in a very long time..im going to start watching again..wherever JR & HHH go..ill be watching...I enjoyed the broadcast.. Edge vs Hardy was ****..just great. HHH & JR came across as fresh to me...I really prefer JR on RAW, but JR on TV is better than nothing at all so. I Like all the possibilities of feuds on SD..HHH vs Edge, Undertaker,Hardy & Kennedy..it should be fun..and Carlito is there too but hes in the doghouse RAW without JR on Monday will be awkward, Im so used to hearing him on Monday. I have nothing against Michael Cole but hes not JR. Im guessing Cena vs Batista will be a main event at WrestleMania.. Im really not sure if Edge or HHH will drop the strap...im thinking Edge will cost HHH the WWE title and that will be the start of a long term feud .. ? Have a good weekend David Steigman Thumbs Down Best Fight: Miesha Tate/Elaina Maxwell Worst Fight: Bobby Southworth/Anthony Ruiz Very poor card with a lot of boring fights. This was my first time watching a Strikeforce card live and it did nothing to make me want to watch another one live. I voted for the women's fight as the best b/c they went hard after each other for the entire fight and there were moments in the fight where it looked like we could have a finish. Big shock considering that 100% of the women's fights I've seen thus far as you could pretty much copy and paste that statement for. I am looking forward to seeing both of these ladies fight again. I thought that the main event was a good fight, but I didn't vote it as best fight b/c it didn't appear that Melendez was ever in danger of being finished - including the RNC near the end of the 4th rd - or even hurt. It was also such a lobsided fight at times I actually lost interest in it as it didn't appear that Thomson was ever not going to be in control of the fight. I will say that they fight was fought at a higher level than the ladies fight - but I'm not really sure that there are enough women to train with at this stage for the ladies to really improve their skill level to say the mid-level men and clearly Melendez/Thomson are much better than mid-level fighters. I can't believe that Southworth is the best LHW that Strikeforce has. Yes he has some skill, but the sub attempts he through out there were all very sloppy and it seemed like he knew that all he had to do was through out a sub attempt every now and then to win the rounds as Ruiz isn't very skilled at all. Ruiz, IMO, is far too raw to be in the title picture in an organization as big as Strikeforce. Yes, I realize that they don't employ 200+ fighter like UFC does, but I think there are still enough fighters out there to be employed by Strikeforce to put together better TITLE fights. I also realize that Strikeforce is probably the 4th biggest co. in the U.S. now (behind UFC, Affliction and Elite XC - TBD who is #2), but Ruiz showed that he isn't at the level he needs to be at to be in a title fight. I know he beat Southworth in the past, but I feel very strongly about this. I believe that title fights should showcase the top guys, not the raw guys. Not much to say about the other fights as they did nothing for me at all. Rishi Malhotra Toronto Hi Dave, I have mixed feelings about the draft. When my wife and I were watching RAW I told her don't expect Triple H to go to SmackDown or JR and Lawler to be split up. Well I was dead wrong. I was surprised. At first I thought that if they did split up Ross and Lawler I figured they were going to put Ross on SmackDown with Mick Foley, Cole back with Tazz on ECW and Adamle on RAW with Lawler since I've read that that has been the plan for a while and they did do the angle a few months ago with Adamle walking off ECW then doing one match with Lawler that Regal ordered when he was GM. Then JR got drafted to SmackDown and I was about to turn the channel when immediatley Cole got drafted to Raw. I liked the idea of Jeff Hardy on SmackDown but when Triple H got drafted to SmackDown I'm guessing that they want to pump up SmackDown getting it ready for it's move to My Network TV. I only watch RAW since it's on a Monday and that's my day off. But I set my DVR to record Smackdown now. I tried watching ECW but I fell asleep listening to Adamle. Night of Champions looks to be headed in this direction. Either Batista will beat Edge or Cena will beat TripleH but I can't see them keeping both titles on SmackDown. Mark Henry will win the ECW title. ("See, we have a black world champion") Jeff Hardy will be Jericho's mystery opponent and Shawn Michaels will cost Jericho the match and that moves the IC belt to SmackDown. Cody Rhodes will turn on Bob Holly leading to Ted DiBiase Jr pinning Holly and he and Cody being the new Champions. Matt Hardy will retain the U.S. Championship. I can't remember the rest. Only time will tell. As far as the angle with Vince, well at least my dad didn't call me asking if Vince was crippled. Last year he called me and asked if Vince really died. "Paul, Paul, I can't feel my legs" LOL ( Someone must have been talking with Russo) Take Care, Matt Obemma p.s. I wonder if someone has pitched the idea that since gay marriage is legal now in California. They should have 2 real homosexual wrestlers get married when their in California. (Orlando Jordan and Chris Kanyon?) Then do a divorce angle. Here's my thoughts on the supplemental draft! Raw: 1. Jaime Noble - no impact in ring, but adds depth as backstage prepper 2. Duece - Dad got him here, so will see what they do with him...I say NOT much. 3. Chuck Pulumbo -If he still rides his bike to the ring = push. If he doesn't, then another Polumbo gimmick failure. 4. Matt Striker - Schools now in session, which heel needs a mouthpiece?!? 5. Layla El - SHOCKER to me, as Vince hates her look...I say they bury her, but she's a fighter/good learner and the audience DOES like her! We'll see, but my moneys on writers "couldn't figure out what to do with her". 6. Kofi Kingston - this break out RISING star will get the Shelton Benjamin treatment on RAW...what does that mean...see Shelton Benjamin last few years on RAW (it felt like years!). Don't think you can break the ceiling buddy...he'll be labeled "can't draw, can't speak, can't work correctly" SmackDown: 1. Trevor Murdoch - He had to go with Cade elevated/linked to Jericho and gone from his side. Because Murdoch's body type is atypical, he will NEVER be more than "named" enhancement talent (ie Val Venis). A tag team with Jimmy Wang Yang would be an interesting redneck tandem? Just might work! 2. Big Danddy V - Ordered to lose 50-100lbs before returning, hopefully in a body suit/PJs...will be 2nd tier talent on SD, but means NOTHNIG for ANY brand. 3. DH Smith - Shot out the cannon and was getting over with little help, but the public drug test failure sent his stock to just above ZERO. 4. Brian Kendrick - I guess that means Paul London will be further smacked in the face with ZERO bookings on RAW house shows and he'll make the occasional Heat appearance...oh wait Heat was cancelled and so IS his career! As for Kendrick, a bit brighter on SD, but plenty of Samoan spikes, pedigrees, mic checks, tree slams are in his immediate future...after that they could rebuild him from the ashes which will lead to NOTHING! Sad way to kill a tag team that meant something two years ago! 5. Maria - Shocker for me...Once the hottest Diva at the start of the year, got Playboyed and now dumped asap to SD...wow, that's an a CLEAR indication that your career has peaked...see Torrie Wilson for Maria's future! 6. Shelton Benjamin - Up, down, up, down...which way is he headed?! I see him as an IC or US title chaser and holder. I wish the best for Shelton - may he be blessed with "normal" hair color once again!!! 7. Carlito - get mad and rip a hole in Triple H only to move to SD under TRIPLE H...screwed again...time to revisit WWC in Peurto Rico and be champ there! ECW: 1. Mark Henry - Will be ECW champ at Night of Champion. This is the fall out from the Michael Hayes racial insensitive case. I like Herny, but WWE doesn't. Why?!? He makes a downside $1 Million (or has it been 10 years already). 2. Hornswaggle - Don't care, but kids do like him. 3. Super Crazy - Welcome home "ECW Original"...as soon as Adamle says "ECW Original" Crazy's career will essentially be over just as quick...I hope not, but you know what "Not Vince's Original" means in the big picture! 4. Finley - old veteran paired up with Hornswaggle...they'll push their merchandise for another year. Great teacher/worker, will probably have a program with Henry to make him look better (aka what he did for Batista) Peter Jaderock Hey Dave, Just a few observations on Raw and the upcoming PPV: I like just about all the draft picks except for JR. I think Mick Foley and him will make an interesting and informative (if allowed) team, but I think it would have been better on Monday, live, than on Friday. Unless I’m mistaken, aren’t all the combatants in the ECW title match at Night of Champions on other brands (as of Wed morning)? So, who ever wins, it will not be an ECW wrestler? Didn’t they strip Bobby Lashley of the ECW belt when he was drafted to Raw? Is Jericho defending the Intercontinental belt or not Sunday? With several mid-level guys on the roster, especially ECW, wouldn’t it be a smart move to bring back the cruiserweight belt (although I agree with the too many belt theory), as a way of showcasing their talent, and putting it on ECW. And also to distinguish ECW as a different brand. If I never see another Vince storyline, it’ll be too soon! Mike Rand So how long until someone comments that Vince must have been into some heavy shit for God to bring this down on him? Mike DeGeorge {plug} |
