ROH house show report 8-16 Chicago PDF Print E-mail

By Keith Lipinski

Attendance 500

Pre show. nate bash and ben sailer and ego fantastico vs ninja yellow and ninja blue and jaguar jackson in 301 when bash rolled up yellow. End was clumsy as no one was sure the match was in fact over. Bash from minnesoda (keep in mind I don't have spell check on this) had a very good look with huge dreads and a decent body. The ninjas are a fun gimmick. Someone back stage (adam pearce) did the gary micheal capetta gimmick of after the bell rang announcing "five minutes elapsed"

Pre show main event - the battle of des moines iowa winner becomes the KING OF DES MOINES~!  Alex sugarfoot payne (representing the north aide) defeated hunter matthews om 445 with a sugarana.  Sugarfoot was way over, matthews was fun to watch as he was memphis style complete with jerry lawler singlet and fistdrop attempt.

LONGER REPORT COMING TOMORROW

Main show. Crowd while smaller is HOT

1.  Kevin steen d kenny king 726 with sharpshooter submission. Good opener, king slipped while going up the ropes in the corner. but he did end up with a good showing and impressed the crowd as he flipped back to get out of a superplex attempt and while steen was sitting on the top turnbuckle-hit a huge engizurri and a buff blockbuster for two. Steen attempted his package piledriver but king flipped thru for a sunset flip but steen hit the sharpshooter for the win.

Pelle Primeau came out and let us know that chicago knows pelle and he's ready for a fight and he hasn't seen his old tag team partner delirious since last night when deli joined age of the fall. Daizee Haze came out to "its your fault" chants and said she was wrong to say no to delirious date requests and ended up asking him out. Jimmy jacobs and alison wonderland came out jimmy told us he was distracting deli and the age of the fall unlike love saves. Mschiff then attacked haze with the roll odf the dice. Delirious came out. Quite sullen and sad. He proceeded to beat pelle down and gave him a panic attack into the ring side guardrail and then a claw to his bloody head. Good angle

2.  Tag team scramble;  jigsaw and ruckus defeated the phoenix twins, mitch franklin & trik davis and the briscoe brothers in 604 with combo jug n tonic and double stomp on dash of the phoenix twins. Fantastic spot fest with all teams getting a chance to shine. The phoenix twins impressed the crap out of me and this was a very good scramble. Finish saw the very over briscoes hit the springboard doomsday device on one of the twins I believe but mark was hit with a superkick from jigsaw and then the other twin was held by jig for the combo finish.  Fun times

3.  El generico defeated tyler black in 1431 with a brainbuster. As expected very good match with many nearfalls.  End saw tyler attempt the phoenix splash miss and generico hit the yakuza and brainbuster

4.  FIP Championship: erick stevens defeated that young knockout kid chris hero in 2107 after a powerslam off the middle rope. Long match story was the knockout kid repeatly hitting stevens in the face very very hard

Return date 11/22 for PPV taping

5.  Bryan Danielson & Austin Aries defeated Nigel McGuinness & claudio castagnoli in 1323 when nigel tapped to cattle mutalation.  So awesome lots of great back and forth here. They squeased a lot of action into this short time. Claudio as a heel is fantastic as he with his mustache resembles the red barron. Everyone showed great fire and danielsons farmers tan is a thing of glory. After the match claudio hit danielson with a chair but it over his head and stomped it down. Match of the evening for sure

6.  Sweet N Sour Gauntlet: Roderick Strong def Bobby Dempsey (30 seconds bobby took a dive), Shane Hagadorn (332), Adam Pearce (752) and Chris Hero (51 seconds by dq with low blow and pushing the ref) however he was pinned by larry sweeney in nineteen seconds after hero hit three of his knockout punches on roddy and he was done

7.  NWA World Heavyweight Championship:  Brent Albright defeated Go Shiozaki in 2502 with repeated knee strikes to the head. Long but got fun towards the end with repeated german suplexes (they traded off five times) and chops

8.  Jimmy jacobs def the very over necro butcher in 1348 in no dq match after tyler black powerbombed austin aries thru a table in which a bloody necro was hunched over and jimmy laid on him for the win.  Good bloody crowd brawl including table, many chairs, blood, lysol and whackiness Afterward the delirious, the briscoes, steen and generico all ran in for hijinx. Steen and generico were face to facwe and then they brawlled and steen and generico hit dives to the outside to finish the show
