By Phil Adams Ron Kruck is hosting in place of Kenny Rice. Tonight's guests are Amir Sadollah, Martin Kampmann, and Gary Herman (CBS Sports.com) We begin with a recap of UFC 87. Everybody was impressed with GSP, of course. GSP landed 148 of 354 strikes while Fitch landed 71 of 253. GSP had 5 takedowns and Fitch none. Everybody was impressed with Lesnar's win over Herring, also. Bas said he could tell Lesnar was coming off a submission loss because he was being very careful at times. Martin thinks that Lesnar could have been more aggressive on the ground and that when starts being more aggressive there, he will be doubly tough to handle. Bas noted that Kenny Florian fought a very smart fight with Huerta. He was able to stay just outside of Huerta's range and therefore made Huerta look unorthodox and clumsy at times. Amir expects to fight next in either October or November, but nothing is official. He said his life has changed after winning TUF 7. People now recognize him at strip clubs. Martin will be fighting Nate Marquardt next. In the News, Matt Horwich is leaving the IFL for UFC. He will fight Ricardo Almeida at UFC 90. Strikeforce's next show will be at the Playboy Mansion on 9/20 featuring Babalu v. Southworth and Joe Riggs v. Misaki. Tito Ortiz is still a free agent. Tom Atencio of Affliction says that there is better chance of Tito Jackson appearing at the next Affliction show than Tito Ortiz. Next is a taped interview with Fedor. He has a minor injury to his hand, not a break. It is a chip fracture at the base of the thumb. He is already training, but not doing any hand striking. He will be able to resume striking in October and be ready to fight at Affliction's next show in January. He still wants to fight Couture, but says whether it happens is totally out of his hands. He didn't see Brock Lesnar's last fight, but is impressed with him. He would like to fight on 12/31 in Japan, but nothing is set. Next are highlights from Silver Crown Fights in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Drew Fickett choked out Joe Manzello in the 1st Round. Ricco Rodriguez (looking very flabby) choked out Titus Campbell in round 2. Highlights from Total Fighting Alliance in Long Beach and highlights from a show in Nasik, India are also shown. In response to an e-mail question, Bas thinks that MMA will be an Olympic sport in 2012 (based on nothing). Regarding whether it is a good idea to fold WEC's heavier weight divisions into UFC, Gary Herman noted that almost all the fighters he has talked to think it is a good thing. The guys going into UFC will get more exposure and the lighter weight guys will have more fights and exposure on WEC cards. It is also consistent with UFC's original idea not to make WEC a minor league feeder system. That's about it.
