This week's WWE developmental no-TV taping report with Koslov and others PDF Print E-mail
By Big D (from www.wrestlingobserver.com/www.f4wonline.com and www.angrymarks.com)

Florida Championship Wrestling ran a REAL TV Taping this week. So when I walk in I see the same old hard-cam and now TWO other cameras, like the first show had about seven weeks ago. My suspicions were indeed correct. Almost every person I spoke with ENSURED me that ALL the shows in that building were taped for television. Me, using the practical side of my brain, thought differently because why would you record a professional TELEVISION product with WWE's stamp on it with just a hard cam. I assumed that it was just recorded for the wrestlers and management to watch and study, but was ENSURED that it was for TV. This isn't an INDY here. So now, this is the OFFICIAL second TV Taping, which is BS because I wish I had been told. Whatever.

Miss Angela comes out and puts over the Main Event tonight, a Fatal Fourway with the winner getting a shot at Jake Hager and the FCW Southern Heavyweight Title next week. Brian Kelly and Dusty Rhodes are in the booth.

Match #1: Scotty Goldman defeated Sterling Jack Gabriel. Goldman has new trunks now. I hope he didn't trash all of his Colt Cabana tights. Pure comedy to start the match here. Colt gets the early advantage and Sterling cuts him off and this and that. Sterling works over Colt's mid section, specifically with a body scissors. Colt makes a wild comeback with a combination of forearms to the face that Jack sold like Chuck Liddell hit him. Colt got the duke with a sunset flip from the second rope.

Sheamus comes out and cuts a promo on the Fatal Fourway Main Event tonight. He is obviously involved (Angela didn't announce the participants earlier). He says he's been challenging Hager forever and now he finally gets his shot. Huge heat from the crowd. He says he will beat all three of his opponents tonight to get the shot at Hager.

Match #2: DH Smith defeated "Carnival Freak" Sinn Bowdee. DH started early with offense, mainly forearms and whatnot. A few basic wrestling moves. Sinn Bowdee cut him off and starts to work over Smith's back. They tease Smith making a comeback several times but getting cut off. Diana Hart was there again, along with I believe DH's girlfriend, and of course, big pop from that section. DH makes a wild comeback that seemingly took forever. He did about 10 moves before finishing with the Running Powerslam. Short and to the point.

Match #3: TJ Wilson defeated Afa. This match had a strange feel to it because TJ was obviously positioned as the babyface here, but Afa was more over than perhaps anybody this entire show. The fans cheered for Afa like a giant samoan hero and TJ got SOME response, but not as much as they'd hoped. TJ opens the match hot and hits a springboard dropkick early to knock Afa down. Afa comes back hitting a rolling kick, followed by power moves and a hangman's neckbreaker. He then applies a nerve hold. Afa is quite the innovator, hitting a vertical suplex into a neckbreaker (which I've seen before, but Afa seems to be one of the few guys in FCW thinking outside the box). Some back and forth action. Afa starts to get overconfident, but TJ rolls up into a small package for a 3-count. He was playin possum.

After the match, Afa beat on TJ until Ryan Braddock but was easily stopped by Afa. Afa then kicked his leg into the steel steps. Braddock sold this seemingly FOREVER. I don't know if there was miscue, but he was in the ring for about seven full minutes until Drew McKintyre came out for the next match.

Match #4: Drew McKintyre defeated Ryan Braddock. This was a complete and utter failure. This is exactly what irks me about wrestling sometimes. Drew comes into the ring and I expected him to quickly slap on a submission on Ryan's leg and get the quick tapout. Well no, that didn't happen. Drew worked over his leg. And worked it. And worked it. And worked it. And continued to work it. I've never seen a man be completely unable to beat another man with one leg like this. They did hope spots for Braddock but the crowd just didn't care. They tried to make the fans care and failed, probably because he is feuding with Afa, the most over guy down here. Drew continued to take forever in beating the leg of Braddock down and does he win with a leg submission? No. Does Braddock's feet buckle into some kind of pin? Nope. Drew hits him with a weak faceplant for th pin. GARBAGE.

Afterward, Braddock sold the leg again and the fans chanted "We Want Afa". No sympathy. No buys.

Tyrone Jones comes out and cuts a promo on tonight's fourway. He says the same things that Sheamus said about winning the title and says Hager's future is "Extremely Dangerous". If that's going to be his catchphrase, change it immediately.

Match #5: FCW Florida Tag Team Champions Nick Nemeth and Gavin Spears defeated the Puerto Rican Nightmares of Primo Colon and Eric Perez to retain the titles. It's a shame that Primo had such a horrid debut on Monday because he is a much better worker in FCW and has been for a while. Eric and Eddie use double teams to work over Gavin Spears. Spears is extremely good at selling here, bobbing up and down, 1980s style. As I said before, Nemeth wrestles and dresses too much like Billy Gunn for my taste. We see a lot of near-falls and roll ups and this and that. I didn't get to see all of this match because I stepped out for a second, but I was told a lot of the middle was good. Gavin wins with a neckbreaker.

Intermission

When we return from intermission, Roucka is doing the ring announcing, which I assume is because Angela is wrestling.

Match #6: Angela defeated Daisy. This match was set up in an angle last week when Daisy challenged Angela to a match where if she won, she'd take over her ring announcing duties. Both of these girls were green as grass. There were a bunch of botched and sloppy spots here, but that's alright because that's what Developmental is for. I've heard Angela has more ring experience than Daisy, but it didn't show here. At one point, Roucka on the outside trips Angela, giving Daisy the upper hand. They did the infamous "apron bump", where Daisy went to hit Angela, missed, hit Roucka, knocked her off the aprin, then Angela did a roll up for the win. HUGE pop for the win. This pinfall got the biggest pop of the night.

Roucka announces D-Lo Brown will be here next week. Angela comes out from the back again to confront her. Roucka then hits her with... well... her tit. I mean it could've been an elbow, but it looked like she got hit with an implant. Angela then spears Roucka and beats her down, chasing her off. Angela resumes her ring announcing duties.

Match #7: Vladimir Koslov defeated Kafu. The fans chanted "USA" early on, which is ironic because Kafu is from Brazil. I freaking hate that. Kafu is known as FCW's "MMA Fighter" guy even more than Ttrone Jones. Koslov is supposed to be some Sambo champ. Whatever, it's a work. Koslov came in quick and started to work Kafu over with throws and locks. He even does the Mark Coleman knees to the head at one point. Kafu makes a comeback with a nasty stiff round kick, but quickly gets cut off with a headbutt and pinned. Kafu loses again, this time to the "Moscow Mauler".

Johnny Curtis comes out to cut a promo on the fourway tonight and says the exact same crap the other two said. I like how they build it up, but it's repetitive. Gabe Tuft comes out, who is also in the match. He says that he and Curtis used to be tag team partners, but all of that is thrown out the window tonight because he wants the FCW title. I like how they're building the entire brand around Hager and his title.

Match #8: Stu Sanders defeated Ian Richardson. Fail. The crowd was completely dead for this. This was I believe Ian's first match here in this building (even though we'd seen him around). He's obviously a rookie because he was green as grass. This match was putting me to sleep. Sanders won with something. Who cares, I was busy talking to people at ringside (sorry, this was really that bad).

Angela announces that next week, we'll have a threeway with TJ vs. Afa vs. Braddock.

Match #9: Vic Adams vs. Kevin Kiley. This was another boring match to be honest. The second match where the crowd just died and nobody was really over. Vic impressed with a nice bicycle kick and superplex, so the effort WAS there, but it just didn't get over. Kevin was the face obviously. Vic has kind of been floating around not doing much since his former partner Charles Evans was released. Vic wins with a modified Uranage.

Jake Hager comes out in street clothes.. I guess. I love how Jake comes out with a very nice dress shirt and RIPPED Jeans. WWE Dress Code violation. He cuts a promo and says no matter who wins, he will keep the title. He walks over to do guest commentary. Alright.

Match #10: Sheamus defeated Tyrone Jones, Gabe Tuft, and Johnny Curtis in a Fatal Four-Way to become the #1 Contender to Jake Hager's title. This was a pretty fun match. The heels started the match by attacking the babyfaces and attempting to double team one while tossing the other one out. Lots of back and forth action. The story to the match was Gabe and John coming together, and then getting cut off. It was essentially a tornado tag match for a while. Johnny does a springboard plancha on all the guys on the outside. Gabe and John start to double team the faces until Johnny takes the advantage by attacking Gabe. Heels again attack the faces. It's tough to keep track of these matches. Tyrone hits a huge suplex on Curtis. Gabe goes for a moonsault but misses and Sheamus slaps in the Choke Spinebuster for the 3 count.

After the match, they did the long staredown. Hager steps out of the booth and walks around the ring, teases entering, but leaves.

This is where the taping apparently ended because now we have what seemed like a dark match main event.

Match #11: WWE Women's Champion Beth Phoenix and Natalya Neidhart defeated The Bella Twins. Beth and Nattie could be the best female team ever. Beth is very over. This match was basically a squash. Beth and Nattie went in there and ran through the Bellas. We saw hope spots left and right but there was no hope for the twins. Beth worked them over with a Dragon Sleeper and even when they made the hot tag, they kept getting cut off. Beth and Nattie win with a Hart Attack. Awesome bonus match!

Well that does it for this week. I guess this will actually air but, who really knows anymore.

Quick Notes:

- This is indeed the OFFICIAL Second Taping for the show, which is supposed to air on the CW Affiliate in Tampa. Quite frankly I'm sick of nobody having a clue about anything around here.

- Beth Phoenix, Vladimir Koslov, and FCW star Gabe Tuft were signing autographs. Koslov, despite being an "angry heel" on Smackdown, was a damn nice guy.

- Next week, D-Lo Brown will be the special guest. {plug}
