By Dave Meltzer Welcome to our live coverage of WWE Unforgiven from the Quicken Loans Center in Cleveland. We're looking for your thoughts on both this show as well as UFC 88, so you can leave a thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it They didn't even do a show open which tells me they are afraid to waste time or they won't be able to fit everything into the show. They want to be over and done in 2:40 unlike TNA, which goes about 15 minutes longer. The ECW title match opens the show. We are told there was a drawing earlier. Matt Hardy opens with The Miz, who is from Cleveland. Now that he's going 20:00, picking Miz over John Morrison makes even less sense. Oooo, Chavo is out next. Chavo Guerrero pinned Matt Hardy with a frog splash so he's the interim champion. Matt pinned Chavo with a side effect to win the title. Mark Henry is in now, which means Fit Finlay arrives in five more minutes. Henry pinned Chavo with the world's strongest slam. This match is really bad at this point. 70% of the stuff has been mistimed the last few minutes. I mean, low-level indie bad, including Matt Striker doing the "bowling shoe" reference to a bad match. Finlay pinned Hardy with the Celtic cross Hardy pinned Miz with twist of fate and we've got 3:00 left. Last few minutes were good as there were constant pin attempts and Hardy kept breaking them up to save his title. Henry kept doing the slam on everyone and Matt kept saving. So Hardy won the title. Total lack of a title winning pop in this kind of match, though. Ted DiBiase & Cody Rhodes b Cryme Tyme to keep the tag titles. Finish saw JTG have Rhodes in a small package, but DiBiase turned over the pile and Rhodes got the small package pin on JTG. Cryme Tyme tried to jump them after the match but Afa Jr. came out and cleaned house on Cryme Tyme, so he's now part of the second generation team. They have Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho on already. 27:00 long match. The story was Michaels was possessed by the end and basically destroyed Jericho with ground and pound punching with him with the belt until it was stopped. He also superkicked the ref. The key spot was Michaels coming off the top rope to the floor with an elbow drop onto the ECW table onto Jericho and Cade both. The match didn't have the heat you would think and fans totally didn't get the ref stoppage finish but it was a pretty amazing performance by Michaels. Randy Orton told DiBiase & Rhodes that they shouldn't have been proud of that kind of a win. It looks like Afa's name will be Manu.
Smackdown title match is next. Jeff Hardy and Shelton Benjamin open the match. The Kendrick is in next. Hardy pinned Kendrick with a face plant Kendrick pinned Hardy with the Kendrick MVP was in HHH in last HHH with pedigree on Kendrick Hardy pinned MVP with a twist of fate HHH pinned Kendrick again with the pedigree Hardy pinned Kendrick with a swanton HHH pinned MVP with a pedigree with one second left. They actually went 20:16 to get all of this in. They are counting this as a new title reign for HHH so he now has 13. Good match. Michaels did an interview saying he's packing his bags and flying home tonight. He said he was content. But he's not content nor feels a sense of closure. Michaels promised Jericho that the worst is yet to come. Punk was doing an interview when he and Orton got into an argument. DiBiase, Rhodes & Manu all attacked Punk and Orton gave him the running kick. Storyline here will be that Punk is likely injured and out of the main event. Michelle McCool vs. Maryse for the Divas title is next. McCool won with a face first suplex. People didn't care but it was better than the Maryse Smackdown matches have been. Big Show is out and asked to be put in the Raw match. He asked the fans. They cheered but it was a lukewarm cheer. Vickie Guerrero is now out. She's no longer in a wheelchair. She threatened to suspend him and called him a big, dumb giant. Get out of my ring. Undertaker's druid music is playing. Big Show is laughing as a coffin is coming out. Undertaker is on the screen saying the coffin is her final resting place. Will she go voluntarily or does he have to go out there and do it himself. And here he comes.
She tried to run but Show grabbed her. And Undertaker is out. Vickie's struggling to get away from Show is up there with La Momia for realistic. But Big Show KO'd Undertaker. Well, he's been needing this turn for a long time. Show laid out Undertaker with body shots and a head-butt. Undertaker coming back but Show rammed his back into the ringpost. He dropped Undertaker on top of the coffin. Morw head-butts and a KO punch to the jaw. Now 3 elbow drops. Another punch. Vickie slapped Undertaker in the face and spit in his face. This segment felt like it lasted 15 years. Shocking lack of heat but that's more this crowd because that's been the caes all night. As Vickie and Show left, in the background you saw these kids giving them a standing ovation. Regal asked for the spot. They are teasing Punk showing up last and coming up with the win at the end. So that would be the alternative ending if the mystery fifth guy doesn't come out and win. Batista vs. JBL starts the match out. Kane is next in. Kane p JBL choke slam
They are shaving team fierce. Less than 4:00 before Kane was out and 7:59 before Rey came out. So it's either Punk or maybe Jericho last. Jericho is in last so most likely he wins in a photo finish. Sorry for the website issues. As an update we have just purchased a new server and will be moving over to it within the week. Finish of the match saw Batista pin Kane with one minute left. Rey tried a spot but Batista caught him and powerbombed him, and as this was happening Jericho stole the pin on Kane just as the time limit was about to expire. So Chris Jericho is your new World Champion. |
