October PPV show canceled PDF Print E-mail

The 10/11 Affliction PPV show, scheduled to be headlined by Andrei Arlovski vs. Josh Barnett for a title shot at Fedor Emelianenko, has been canceled according to reports from both Yahoo.com and MMArated.com.

The box office at the Thomas & Mack Center was still selling tickets to the event as of Noon Pacific time today and had not been informed the show was off, but the event had been removed from the company's web site.

However, fighters on the card were being informed today that the show had been postponed to a later date, and the PPV companies were also informed there was going to be no show.

Keith Kizer of the Nevada State Athletic Commission told sherdog.com that the event was being moved to January at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

There had been rumors for several days that Affliction was attempting to find a public reason for an impending cancellation, as live ticket sales were weak coming off a show that was believed to have lost in the range of $3 million to $4.5 million.
