--The Seth Petruzelli story has gotten tons of media attention.  Jim Rome called it manipulation and said it risks Elite XC's credibility.  Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times has an article on it at http://www.latimes.com/sports/boxing/la-sp-mma9-2008oct09,0,7476817.story  A lot of interesting comments including by Dana White and Gary Shaw.  White also talked to the Boston Herald at http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/other_sports/ultimate_fighting/  "It put a nail in my coffin, too.  When dirty people go out and do stuff like that, it hurts.  Promoters have a bad rap as it is because of  the last 100 years of boxing.  We actually started to turn that around and were doing the right things and then you have these guys coming out and doing shit like that.  It hurts us."

--UFC has informed us stories of Abdul Mohamed coming to UFC at this point are incorrect.  He is not signed, he is not looking to be signed, and he is not on the January show in Dublin. 

 

--The WWE has sent out a memo saying that at the upcoming FCW tryout that John Laurinaitis would offer at least one, if not more, attendees, a WWE developmental contract

 

--For hardcore fans, one of the best fights of the year was signed for the 12/3 WEC show at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas with Wagnney Fabiano vs. Akitoshi Tamura.  They are two of the best 145-pounders in the world, likely with the winner being groomed to face the Urijah Faber vs. Mike Brown winner.

 

--Whether this is an indication of a national trend is unknown, but after record low ratings, Junie Browning's insane behavior drew the largest rating in recent memory for Ultimate Fighter in San Diego at 2.73 

 

--ECW drew a 1.2 rating on Tuesday

 

--The TNA web site's newest Spin Cycle show has Terry Taylor, Glenn Gilbertti, Pat Kenney and Vince Russo talk about Jeff Jarrett's return, Sarah Palin, young talent vs. veterans, who should be fired and more.   

 

--In cable ratings from last week, TBS was No. 1 with a 3.5 prime time average due to the Major League Baseball playoffs.  Fox News was No. 2 at 3.0 due to the race for the presidency.  USA was down to No. 4, behind ESPN, at 2.1.  Sci-Fi was No. 11 at 1.1 and Spike was No. 18 at 0.8.  The second hour of Raw was No. 22 and first hour didn't make the top 25.  Monday Night Football, presidential coverage on CNN and Fox News and baseball all beat it out.  It actually would have been the highest rated scripted entertainment show of the week.  Second hour was No. 10 in 18-34 but didn't crack the top ten in 18-49 or 25-54

 

--Live everything else, the WWE stock has taken a tumble, down to $13 per share at closing today.  The good news is if you buy now, you're getting an 11% annual dividend.  WWE sent out a press release yesterday touting the stock had only lost 7% this year, but they jinxed themselves by dropping 5% in one day.  

 

--U.K. ratings for the week ending 9/28.  Raw did 39,000 viewers live and 50,000 on the Thursday replay.  Smackdown drew 54,000 viewers on the first airing, and 46,000 on the next day replay.  (thanks to Ian Hamilton at www.theianhamilton.com)

 

--Kelly Kelly said that she will not be posing in Playboy

 

--The family of Nancy Benoit had their lawsuit against Hustle magazine thrown out of court by Judge Thomas Thrash, saying photographer Mark Semansky, who took the photos in the summer of 1983 that were released 24 years later, did not violate the then privacy of Nancy Daus.

 

--The Starz Entertainment series "Head Case," a 30 minute comedy, will feature Dave Bautista in an episode for the spring season
