We're looking for your thoughts on the show, so you can leave a thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle along with a best and worst match to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it We're opening with the Steel Asylum with Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Shark Boy, Jay Lethal, Petey Williams, Sonjay Dutt, Jimmy Rave, Curry Man, Super Eric and Johnny Devine. Spotfest match. The live crowd loved it. It was the usual X Division spots multiple man spots. Tower of Doom. 4 on 3 suplexes. The finish was Lethal and Dutt both climbeing the cage and hanging upside down by their legs and throwing punches. Lethal got the better of it and climbed out of the cage to become No. 1 contender for the X title. Jim Cornette is all excited saying this is going to be his crowning achievement. He can't possibly be serious. Plugging going to HD a week from Thursday. Foley is hanging in Cornette's office when The Beautiful People showed up. They were mad at the color of the M&Ms in the dressing room. Velvet said Foley had dandruff. They insisted on Cornette when he comes back taking care of the M&M situation. Rhaka Khan & ODB & Rhino vs. Beautiful People & Cute Kip with Traci Brooks as referee. This has the makings of a disaster. Crowd was hot for ODB. This wasn't even bad enough to be perversely entertaining. But a bad match ending with Rhino pinning Kip after a gore. Consequences Creed did one of those pro-USA interviews but didn't do well with it. Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Creed for the X title Bashir won with a rolling reverse cradle holding the ropes. Sloppy in spots but very heated. Crowd was into the USA thing, and the match in general, by bringing out a wounded war hero to endorse Creed at the start. Foley is in the office doing comedy. Raisha Saeed & Kong came out. Saeed said it doesn't matter what you think and Foley said it was gimmick infringement and he's calling The Rock. Instead, tho, he called Yerbel the Clown (remember in that Vince skit from ten years ago with Stone Cold?). Doesn't anyone realize how much this WWF nostalgia makes them appear to be so minor league? Taylor Wilde vs. Roxxi vs. Awesome Kong for the Knockouts title is up Wilde pinned Roxxi with a German suplex after Kong took a bump out of the ring. Short match. A.J. Styles talking with Foley. Styles said that he's happy to see Foley unlike the other people who came from the other company. Please end this penis envy already. Foley said he was on Styles' side. Bubba called Styles a huge mark because Foley really wasn't that big of a star. Foley got mad at Bubba for stealing his red flannel gimmick forcing him to wear different clothing. Bubba called him Cactus. Monsters Ball - Beer Money vs. Abyss & Matt Morgan vs. LAX vs. Team 3-D with Steve McMichael as referee is up now. Long match, more than 20:00 ending when 3-D used the 3-D on Hernandez on a table with thumb tacks (Hernandez went to put thumb tacks on the table but poor Hernandez couldn't undo the bag so referee McMichael undid it. Storm spit beer in Bubba's eyes and stole the pin on Hernandez. Crowd loved this match. They were really into all the weapons. Biggest spot was Abyss being put through a flaming table by 3-D. There was too much fire as his back was burning for too long until a fire extinguisher was sprayed on him. Lots of dives, Devon and Abyss bladed. Match worked for what it was and best thing on the show so far. You may find it hard to believe, but it's true--Steve McMichael was a much better wrestler than he is a referee. Christian Cage vs. A.J. Styles vs. Booker T is up Good match. Styles was the life of the match. Several near falls ending with Christian using the unprettier off the middle rope on Styles (sounded like a good idea on paper but really didn't look good) and then Booker came off the top rope with an ax kick on Christian for the pin. Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett with Mick Foley at ringside is up now. Jeff vowed to win the match for his daughters. Given that his opponent isn't Shawn Michaels in 1997, I'd say he's probably winning. Usual good Angle match. Kurt waffled Foley with a chair and then hit Jarrett with a chair. As Angle went for the pin, Foley pulled ref Rudy Charles out before he counted three. Foley pulled out Mr. Socko and used the claw on Angle, and then Jarrett hit Angle with a guitar shot for the pin. Samoa Joe vs. Sting for the TNA title ends the show. Much better match than you'd think. Joe's best match since the Angle cage match. He even did a dropkick out of the luxury boxes where he landed on the steps which was insane. Joe worked the match as a heel and was mostly booed. So then for the finish, Kevin Nash came out and took the bat from Sting as he went to use it. So naturally Nash then hit Joe with the bat and Sting used the scorpion death drop to win the match and title. |
