We look back at the many different things that killed Elite XC, including a realistic look at CBS Saturday Night Fights, the sad fact of life where everyone pointing to mistakes by the promotion missed the big picture. We look at the excess spending, how Elite XC first got in and what terrible deals they made and exactly what really killed the promotion.

We look at the different stages of the sale to CBS and what killed the deal and how the death of the promotion went down and the two major reasons the promotion folded, and its excessive spending and even money losses weren't either of them. We look at the various possibilities of what happens next for CBS and Showtime when it comes to MMA. We look back at what was going down on October 4th, the decisions the company needed to make under pressure, and how and why the wrong decision was made. We look at what could have happened that would have made the promotion bigger than ever and why fear led to the no-win choice.

We then try to sort out the mess of the residue, looking at the future of the top stars, as well as of the different companies affected by the folding and stipulations in their various deals. We look at who is likely to have to fight for significantly less money if they want to continue their careers, and the big questions every fighter that is now a free agent has to look at when it comes to timing. Gina, Kimbo Diaz and everyone is looked at, including who will get the pro wrestling offers.

We look at the interesting thing being brought up in WWE, that even with all the business signs going downward, they believe they are ready to springboard into another boom period and why, and it has nothing to do with new stars on the horizon.

We also have a complete business rundown of house shows, television ratings and PPV for WWE and TNA over the summer months. Who is up? Who is down? And a look in depth at what those numbers mean.

We also have more on all the Wrestlemania publicity, more fallout of the Lance Cade firing, new matches, the next three-hour Raw, Steve Austin's next movie, booking of Vladimir Kozlov and interesting quotes by Chris Nowinski about the NFL and WWE's reaction to his research. We also have a note on a very famous sports figure who was offered to WWE, but WWE turned him down. We also look at Showdown in Shea, best selling DVDs, the Florida developmental news including funny announcing as well as evaluating the top prospects. We also look at a WWE star who is doing an anniversary show in his old stomping grounds. We also look at why Honky Tonk Man was the longest reigning IC champion of all-time.

We also have business notes on the WWE's tours of Puerto Rico and Mexico this past week, as well as highlights from every show.

We also have a major story on Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling. We look at the first episode, what the ratings mean, the premise of the show, what did and didn't work, and most importantly from a wrestling standpoint, what Hogan and Bischoff were looking at spring boarding off the show when it comes to traditional wrestling business.

We also look at where the concept of this idea of what pro wrestling is came from, as well as the unique commentary.

We also have full coverage of UFC 89 from Birmingham, England, with match-by-match coverage, business notes, as well as notes on the future of the Ultimate Fighter television show, changes in who will be accepted onto the show, update on the coaching situation, as well as a look at the ratings as well as the future of Brandon Vera.

We also have a first look at New Year's Eve in Japan, and what major change is being made and its repercussions on the MMA tradition. We look at the dream pro wrestling stars match they are once again working at putting together for that show.

We also have a look at two former UFC fighters, one of whom was also a well-known pro wrestler, who were both arrested in recent days.

We also have our regular weekly features including a look at the ratings of all the national shows, results from the major league house shows as well as the major TV show reviews.

--Both area newspapers listed 1,400 as the crowd at weigh-ins, which is much smaller than the usual crowds.  Still, we're told the buzz in Chicago is pretty big, but with only high priced tickets left, not sure what kind of a walk-up they'll get.  It will break the Wrestlemania record for the largest gate ever at the All-State Arena for any event.

-- Brett writes: Not sure if this has been mentioned, but in the Providence market Friday Night Smackdown airs at 11:30pm on the local FOX affiliate, WNAC 64. (*Note I actually live in Somerset, MA, which although is not in RI, it is considered the Providence market). I write this to you because I have read about the disappointing ratings Smackdown has been getting since the switch to MyNetwork. I can speak for myself when I say that last night’s episode was the first one I have watched since the switch. Obviously I was aware that it was being moved to MyNetwork because of WWE advertisements on RAW, but the problem around here was that MyNetwork had not done any advertising that they had an affiliate in the area. For the past 2 weeks, I would randomly “channel surf” between 8-10 and hope that I’d find Smackdown’s new home by luck, eventually I figured that there was no MyNetwork in the area, and just figured I just wouldn’t be able to watch Smackdown for a while. The confusing part of it all is that WNAC is a FOX affiliate, which would be the last place I’d figure Smackdown would be on, and the only reason I found out that Smackdown aired on FOX in a different time-slot, was that I happened to be watching a few innings of the World Series this week and noticed a commercial for Smackdown in the 11:30 time slot.
