        Regarding the show, I don't see any title changes.  It's too soon for Sting to lose and too soon in this program for Styles to win.  Booker T just unveiled the belt so it's too early for him to lose.  In the tag title situation, they've just set up Team 3-D with a babyface turn and Matt Morgan & Abyss as contenders, so the Machine Guns winning doesn't seem to make sense, although you can always do one change and then change it back on TV or the next show. 

        As far as the show goes, it looks to be more good than bad.  Sting-Styles is the key as far as how well they work together.  Sting has been motivated on promos and he's done fine in his recent matches.  Joe-Nash is going to be a struggle and probably shouldn't be put on next to last because Angle vs. Abyss has a better shot at being a strong match, plus with them doing falls count anywhere, it'll be real hard for Joe and Nash to follow.  Booker and Christian will probably be decent.  Beer Money vs. Machine Guns should be very good.  Rhino vs. Bashir probably doesn't interest anyone and the women should be okay.  The X division opener has the chance to be great if given enough time, but if it doesn't have time, it'll be one of those blur rushes to pin messes.  You have to do nine pinfalls, so anything less than about 15:00 will make it appear rushed.  Probably will be put on first and be a good opener, maybe even a great one, but it also feels like a match that has been done on every other show for the past two years.

 

        Tomorrow's Raw TV in Manchester, featuring Santino Marella vs. William Regal for the IC title as well a ECW being taped with Matt Hardy vs. Fit Finlay for the ECW title.  They are taping two Smackdowns on Tuesday in Manchester.  For whatever reason next week the only TV taping is a Monday show in Atlanta.  The first Smackdown has Undertaker vs. Jeff Hardy in an extreme rules match and Michelle McCool vs. Maria for the Divas title.

 

        TNA has TV tapings on Monday and Tuesday night in Orlando.

--Armando Garcia has resigned as the head of the California State Athletic Commission, which will be made effective at the next commission meeting on 11/18.  At that point they will name an interim commissioner and appoint a search committee for the permanent replacement.  Garcia was put in charge of the commission three years ago and has since been a very polarizing figure in the MMA community because he was very strict when it came to regulations and the most vigilant commission in the country when it came to drug testing.  There is a story by Loretta Hunt at http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/garcia-resigns-from-csac-15087 

 

--The advance for Wrestlemania in Houston came nowhere near selling out, although a $4.8 million opening weekend under the circumstances is still good.  WWE sent out a release and just mentioned tens of thousands of tickets were sold, which means they were avoiding giving the actual number.  There had been two schools of thought in recent weeks.  The one is that Wrestlemania is immune from any popularity downturn and the name will mean instant sellout, and they could do one of those 90 seconds to sellout deals which seemed the prevailing view, but there were others who felt that wasn't going to happen.  Last year in Orlando wasn't the case but Houston is a traditionally stronger wrestling market than Orlando.  The last time in Houston, of course, during the boom period, they couldn't print tickets fast enough.  But they've done a great job on television building the first day on sale, perhaps better than any year in history.  Houston has had its problems with Hurricane Ike, and the economy is an issue as well. 

 

--UFC sold a lot of the best seats for Saturday night to the MGM Grand, because they are offering special weekend packages of two $1,000 tickets, bungalow suites, plus giving you gambling money and other stuff for $2,499. 

 

--We'll mention it again tomorrow but a reminder that the Countdown to Lesnar vs. Couture on Spike will air after Raw at 11 p.m. tomorrow night

--Frank Shamrock was the special guest last night in Miami, OK for a show promoted by Dale Apollo Cook.  He said his next fight would be against Ken Shamrock in early 2009.  They advertised the MMA debuts of members of the Tulsa team in Chuck Norris' World Combat League, but it was sleight of hand as of the three advertised members of the team, only one fought MMA and the other two fought under kickboxing rules.  Nasty Nate Orand, a Miletich trainer, was KO'd in seven seconds in a huge shock.
