WWE house show report 11-14 Glasgow, Scotland PDF Print E-mail

From WON subscriber Craig Broadfoot

Hi Dave Braehead Arena looked to be totally sold out, I'd say mostly kids in attendence.

  1. 1.  Rowdy Charlie Haas pinned Snitsky with a roll up. Charlie got a decent pop. Match was quick and fairly painless.

  2. 2.  Women's champion Beth Phoenix pinned Candice Michelle in a really good match. Best Candice match since her injury. It went about 15 mins, and after lots of near falls Phoenix won with a face buster. Kelly Kelly was referee and Mickie James was timekeeper. After the match all the faces cleared house on Phoenix.

  3. 3.  Kane pinned D-Lo Brown with a chokeslam. Brown cut a heel promo before the match saying that nobody had even noticed he was back. Good point actually. He issued an open challenge and a face Kane came out. Nothing too bad.

  4. 4.  World Tag Team Champions CM Punk and Kofi Kingston beat Cody Rhodes and Manu. Really good long tag match with the heels working over Kingston for most of the match until Punk made the hot tag for a monster pop! Punk pinned Rhodes with the GTS for the win. Best match so far. Strangely during the last match ring announcer Tony Chimel went to the back, returned and asked the guy in the front row who Charlie Haas gave his Hot Rod t-shirt to, to apparently give it back. And the guy did. Weird moment. Intermission. Speaking of Chimel he was on heavy shill mode this evening for the new Smackdown v Raw 2009 game. Cringe.

  5. 5.  Intercontinental Champion William Regal pinned Santino Marella. Regal was the heel and cut an anti-Scottish promo. This meant Marella was the face. Not much heat, Santino got a pretty big pop after the match though. Regal won quickly with a knee.

  6. 6.  Shawn Michaels pinned JBL with the Superkick. Bradshaw cut a belter of a promo before the match, even making Chimel and the referee hold the American flag while he sang God Bless America. Pure gold. Great to see Shawn at a house show, sure has been a while since he's come to Glasgow. Decent match, with JBL on the offence most of the way. Shawn's first Sweet Chin Music was more like a Sweet Stomach Music as they botched it, but he recovered well and nailed it for the pin.

  7. 7.  Batista and Rey Mysterio beat Chris Jericho and Randy Orton. Lots of stalling before the match. Jericho cut a killer of a promo before the match also. Match went about 15 mins with the heels working over Mysterio most of the way. Massive pop for the hot tag. Rey hit a double 619 on the heels and Dave pinned Orton with the Batista bomb. Biggest pops in no order... Batista, Michaels, Punk, Mysterio and strangely Kane. Heel heat... JBL, Orton, Jericho, Regal Over all from a match quality and star power level, probably one of the best shows they've done in Glasgow for years! Really enjoyable. And for all the cheap plugs they had Tony Chimel do, they failed to plug the tickets for next April's Smackdown show in Glasgow which go on sale tomorrow, nor did they plug the already on sale Raw show for April. But they plug WrestleMania tickets being on sale. Totally retarded if you ask me. Not only that, there were TNA posters everywhere but nothing but a small laminet or two promoting the WWE April shows.
