        We used to get Thanksgiving spectaculars, then Starrcade, then Survivor Series and now we're left with the Turkey Bowl on Spike TV tonight from TNA at 9 p.m. Eastern:

*Consequences Creed vs. Alex Shelley vs. Cute Kip in a turkey bowl match

*Matt Morgan vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir in a turkey bowl match

*Rhino vs. Hernandez vs. Sonjay Dutt in a turkey bowl match

*Christy Hemme vs. Raisha Saeed

*Winners of the turkey bowl matches face off with the winner gets $25,000 in monopoly money and the loser having to wear a turkey suit.

        The main event segment is the payoff on who A.J. Styles & Samoa Joe's partners will be in the main event at Final Resolution on 12/7.  Thanksgiving was usually the lowest rated episode of the year when Smackdown was on Thursday, but for whatever reason, TNA has never been hit as bad in the ratings, but they will almost surely be down from recent weeks.

        We look at how Vince McMahon destroyed what would have been the most important of all the Starrcades up to that point in time, and the story of how he tried to sabotage the first Starrcade even before there was a wrestling war that had started, Ric Flair's version of what killed the Carolinas, what did kill Chicago as well as memories of some of the most important matches in the 18-year history of the event, with some behind-the-scenes stories of what led to the matches, what came out of them, and why several of them almost didn't happen.

 

        We look at the decisions being made regarding taping two Smackdowns in one night, the reasons behind them, and the business notes on how it affects company expenses as well as how it will affect the pay of the Smackdown crew.  We've got early notes on the Armageddon matches.

--The series finale of The Shield on FX on Wednesday night did a storyline based on Chris Benoit.  One of the main characters, Shane, a cop on the run with a pregnant wife and seven-year-old son, with the police on his trial, kills himself, his wife and his son.  He killed his wife and son with pain killers before shooting himself.  The creator of the show admitted that was the case, as originally the script was for Shane to get caught, but that he told the writers to change it to something the pro wrestler did last year. (thanks to Damon Dandridge, Matt Cail, Ryan Mulligan and others)  

 

--In U.K. ratings for the week ending 11/16, Raw drew 43,000 viewers live, 83,000 on the Thursday replay and 55,000 on the Friday replay.  Smackdown on Saturday did 51,000 and no rating is available for the Friday show.  ECW drew 49,000 and two airings of a Best of Survivor Series special drew 43,000 and 41,000 respectively.  Nothing from TNA or UFC among its channels highest rated shows (thanks to Ian Hamilton)

--On Pardon the Interruption, Kimbo Slice was talked about as a Turkey of the Year candidate.  Michael Wilbon noted that Kimbo wasn't happy with him about dressing as Kimbo for the Halloween show.  They also noted this was the 10th anniversary of Hulk Hogan retiring from wrestling to run for president.  Remember when Hogan claimed that they did a poll which showed he would beat Bill Clinton in the race, but he dropped out because little Nick was afraid he might get assassinated?

--It was 59 years ago today that, after a serious auto accident, National Wrestling Alliance world champion Orville Brown was forced out of the ring earlier in the month, the NWA voted that Lou Thesz, the National Wrestling Association world champion, would be recognized by the Alliance.  Brown and Thesz were scheduled for a unification match, which Brown was scheduled to win, two days earlier.  Thesz would go on to retain the title for the next six-and-a-half years.  To show how much respect he had as champion, the NWA never voted for him to lose the title.  All three times Thesz lost it, it was of his own volition.

Alan Tudyk and Katherine Keener have all been to shows with Barrymore, Diaz, Paige and Lewis having come to several shows.  They're partially studying for a movie Barrymore is producing.
