I went to the WWE house show in Raleigh, NC tonight, and WWE Divas Champion Maryse was injured. In a tag match (Maryse/Natalya vs. Bellas), she had one of the Bella twins in the corner and was attacking her, when she suddenly collapsed to the ground holding her knee. She appeared to have blown it out. She was left in the middle of the ring for the rest of the match. Afterwards, she was taken out on a stretcher. I'd look for her to lose the title on Tuesday at the tapings, if it's as serious as it looked. Editors note: I would be skeptical at this point with Divas injuries because they are working injury spots with them at house shows.
Other results:
Great Khali d. someone. They started the show EXACTLY AT 5:00 (not a second later), and I missed the match. Khali won, and then did the kiss cam.
United States Champ, Shelton Benjamin, d. Hurricane Helms and R-Truth in a three-way. Good match. They did some nice spots, including the tower of doom spot.
Maryse & Natalya d. Bella Twins. Funaki was referee. Okay match, actually, until the injury. Natalya got the win with the sharpshooter.
Kizarny d. MVP. Kizarny looks okay, nothing special. Afterwards, MVP got on the mic and said he quit. So.... he quits the WWE, I guess?
Triple H d. Kozlov in a street fight. Hunter worked hard, but Kozlov's fundamentals are just terrible.
WWE Tag Champs, Carlito & Primo, d. Kendrick & Jackson, in a very good match.
WWE Champ, Jeff Hardy, d. Edge. Edge got on the mic and was getting amazing heat, including ripping up a little kid's sign on the way to the ring. Lots of stalling early. A simple little match. Hardy wins with the swanton.
Undertaker d. Big Show in a cage match. This turned into a VERY good match. A more toned-down version of their SmackDown match. They had some big bumps, though, for a house show. Undertaker wins with the gogoplata. 1. Great Khali vs Ryan Braddock: Quick squash ending with the Khali chop. Braddock looked decent & match was short enough for Khali to not look too bad. Kiss Cam was different than televison as Khali picked a very attractive girl from the crowd. TV doesn't do Khali justice as in person he looks even more gigantic. 2. R. Truth vs Shelton Benjamin vs. Hurricane Helms US Title. Benjamin won after R. Truth delivered an axe-kick to Helms & Benjamin through him out of the ring & made the cover. Decent match with a tremendous looking spot where R. Truth power bombed Benjamin while Benjamin superplexed Helms. Helms & Truth were both over, as both are from the area, but the crowd got more behind Truth after Helms doublecrossed him on a spot. 3. Bella Twins vs. Maryse & Natalya Neidhart with Kung Fu Naki as ref. . Neidhart submitted one of the twins with the sharpshooter. Match started out as good as could be expected but quickly fell apart as Maryse apparently injured her knee or ankle. i couldn't tell the spot where she was hurt as it was right as she was making a tag to Natalya & there wasn't anything obvious. I thought it was just selling until she didn't leave the ring after the tag & Funaki stayed down on the mat talking to her for several minutes ignoring some near falls & gave the "X" sign. they quickly went to the finish. The trainer & several referees were in the ring with her for several minutes & paramedics came in & she was stretchered out. Did not appear to be an angle. 4. MVP vs. Kizarny. Kizarny won with a modified DDT rolled over into a full press. Cool finisher. MVP worked the mic running down Kizarny. Match was not good except for the finish & the crowd was dead as neither was over a bit. MVP got on the mic & said he quit after the match. 5. HHH vs. Vladmir Kozlov in a street fight. HHH won with a pedigree after a sledgehammer shot. Match was terrible with mistimed spots from both guys. HHH got a huge pop coming out & crowd was into it but the work was not good. Kozlov's selling & punches looked really bad. 6. Carlito & Primo Colon vs. Brian Kendrick & Ezekial Jackson for Tag Titles. Carlito won with a backstabber on Kendrick. Everyone worked hard & it was a good match. Kendrick was great as the chickensh*t heel hiding behind the monstrous bodyguard. 7. Jeff Hardy vs. Edge for WWE Title. Hardy won with a swanton. Tremendous match. Hardy got the biggest pop of the night- no one else including HHH or Undertaker was even close. Edge was super over as a heel. He worked the mic running down North Carolina & Hardy & even tore up a fan's sign at ringside. Match started slow working on the mat & built to all their signature spots & reversals out of those spots. Hardy was awesome at playing to the crowd & every move & gesture from both guys got a huge reaction. They put on a PPV main event caliber match on a house show. That's not really surprising since I've seen Hardy put on tremendous matches in front of small crowds on indie shows here going back 15 years but he's really matured as a worker & Edge is the perfect opponent for him. 8. Undertaker vs. Big Show - Cage match. Undertaker won with the Hell's Gate. Show was on offense most of the match. First half seemed like it was wrestled in slow motion. Picked up when they started the climbing spots & teased chokeslams. Undertaker got a big pop coming out.
